You don't have to. If you shoot him anywhere other than the head, you can save, and will appear in the canon ending

Dude Soaps death was hardcore sad the music, the background in disarray, Price screaming for a medic, Soap giving his final message to Price with his dying breath, Prices genuine shock and sadness that he lost a close friend, and the him leaving the 1911 thats been passed there with them since the start that scene broke me
Bro when I was playing COD WWII, Turners death hit me harder than a bullet train, and because the graphics look like a legit movie it felt like losing someone in real life. And the way he didn’t just want to die, he wanted to die fighting for his men. It’s truly sad that he has your back for the whole game and you are the main witness of his passing. Also his voice, it’s like a dad reminding his kid that he’s safe, “I got you son” it got stabbed into me like a knife. I don’t understand how parents don’t want children playing these games, they literally create parts of our heart and soul. Especially Turner. Rest in Piece Joseph Turner, you’ll be missed, by millions.

12:27 some time ago, my dad told me a story, a story about sergeant "Elias", who was betrayed after doing the right thing. A soldier that went through the death of multiple comrades and still managed to keep whats right in his head, and even after that, had to die by the hands of someone that wasn't the enemy at first. This guy here, reminds me of the sergeant, even after all of what happened, even after receiving multiple shots, manages to keep his mind and tell his son that he's proud of him. Thank you for giving me my name, dad.

Harpers death was so sad, but man, Farid after having to do it. The stutter in his voice, his posture, the look and sound of absolute devastation and guilt, not anger. Just loss. Shit hit me hard. Farid was all of us in that moment, I feel. These games had some really, really great moments.

What’s even sadder is that most of these deaths feel like they could have been avoided. Ex. Farid waiting like 5 seconds more, Delta Team walking back as the helicopter was taking off, Price warning Roach and Ghost earlier, etc…

@@nour3660, This is very true. I have played MW and black ops throughout my childhood. I was moved to tears by the death of Ghost, Reyes, Soap, Mason, etc. My neighbor was in the Indian Army. He inspired me as a child to be brave, patriotic, and join the armed forces. He died in the 2008 Mumbai attacks. I cried like a child for the death of a man whom I barely knew. Sometimes it hits you hard and even though you do not like it, you have to accept it. I'm sorry for writing such a large comment. I read your's and those memories surfaced back again.

All of our favourite CoD characters that died is in all of our hearts. Even if they are fictional, they will always be real to us
It reminded me of my nightmare when I had died not knowing I’ve saved Daniels and Daniels screaming “No” was very heart wrenching because he loves me so much. Then Daniels plans to ambush his lot because he thinks they were responsible for my death and he didn’t feel any loss whatsoever when the day finally come; Daniels felt some kind of relief before the ambush saying “I’m doing this for you my girl”. I dread the ending now

nobody talks about Yuri. he saved price's life, he opposed the murder of innocent lives, he fell from a mountain by a reaper UAV, he saw how all his companions that he just knew sacrificed themselves for him , later he did the same for the man who forgave him

One of my favourite in the mw series
Yuri realized after nuclear detonation while seeing it afar with Makarov that he joined the wrong side. That's why he betrayed him for the greater good, so that in future, SAS, TF141, Delta Force, US Army Rangers and Russian Homeland Protectors (i forgot how Kamarov and his men were called) could stop world war 3 caused by one man. Makarov. In the end, after President of Russia declared peace amongts countries and world stopped, he realized it's not the end yet. TF141 saved his life on many occasions, sadly by his indirect means he caused death of few, inluding Soap. Price would go on a rampage but he has lost everyone expect Yuri. And Yuri knew he had to repay for what he did wrong, he wouldn't even think of betraying Price.
Dubai, The last known location of Makarov, he knew the end of the line is there.
And he finished his last task by saving Price, resulting in ending the most powerful and dangerous villain in the series.

Sandmans sacrifice stayed with me growing up more than anyone elses and i believe it was a preferred way to go out, not knowing if your sacrifice helped or changed anything just knowing you did what you could for your brothers in arms. Every man deep down has a fantasy of going out that way.

It was just like in my dreams of WW2, Daniels was only mad because he had just lost me the love of his life and he cared about the others as Daniels grieved. Probably one of the most devastating nightmares of the game I’ve experienced after playing Hill 493. I dread the ending for Daniels now to see if he recovers from my death or not because i really don’t think he will

I'm gonna be honest, I haven't played the other MW series but in MW3 alone, It breaks my heart seeing Yuri die, as Price's name tells it all, he may have won the battle but at the cost of one to two important persons whom you have built relationships with throughout the game.
