- This tutorial shows you how to extract and save a multichannel 5.1 WAV file from a Dolby AC3 track on a Video DVD. It also goes into details about how to look at the various tracks and streams on the DVD. The tutorial was created for a research who needed access to the surround sound files for research purposes. As always, be careful when working with copyrighted materials.

Thank you so much! This video was incredibly helpful! Now I can listen to the soundtrack without the dialogue!
Thanks, very helpful for learning the correct Handbrake settings for extracting the 5.1 audio. I was very happy to find that I could import the m4v file into Audacity to view and manipulate the discrete audio channels so didn't have to go through the hassle of using Adobe Audition.
thank you for clearing up my misgivings surrounding dvd audio
Really helpful, thanks for this
I'm subbed to your channel. What a funny coincidence 😂
thank you! only problem I have is, when opening in my editing software, (vegas pro 14) I can see the video and the 6 channels listed, but no sound in all 6 channels. playing the video in vlc, theres sound. any suggestons would be appreciated.
FUN FACT: When you extract the audio channels of a logo, they sound like prototype fanfares
Hello! I am wanting to separate the vocal track from a show I own on Blu-ray. However, It says that it is 2.0 and not 5.1. Does this mean it is unlikely that I’ll be able to separate the vocals from the rest of the audio (background music/sounde effects, etc)?
Thanks a lot. I have several DVDAudio discs, and I hate have to eat the damm menu every time, just for listen to the music. . .
Hi Jared, I'm trying to extract the 5.1 surround sound from an album on DVD, and each song has one photograph that shows on screen when it's playing. The output file is not the full 48-minute album, but is instead a 5 second completely silent video that quickly flashes through each image in rapid succession. Do you know what I'm doing wrong?
no idea! Sorry.
Hi Jared.
Do you think there is a way to somehow get 5.1 surround from movies without using expensive players.
5+1 channel from movie to 6 channel amplifiers.
Im building media theatre box with 4k tvbox, amps, storage..inside enclosure and wand to get high quality playback, main problem is audio because I would like to have real 5.1 surround.
Maybe its possible to extract 6 channels and then play them by 3 separate players to 3 DAC at same time?
Maybe have some idea?😅
