Hi Dale, nice choice here, great vid. I agree with Colour of Spring being the best. As you say it's the transition album. It feels like the perfect sweet spot between the early commercial and the late experimental.

Great video, Dale. Talk Talk is one of my favourite bands. I don't have the first couple of albums, though my wife had the Natural History compilation. It's really from Colour of Spring when they hit me, where you can see both where they've come from and where they are heading. And Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock are two of my favourite albums ever. I just bought Mark Hollis's solo on CD. I might give this thread a go. Cheers

Hi Dale Jacks' a great guy, although I admit I don't always watch him. Good choice with Bill, knowledgeable and talented artist too, definitely deserves more subs. Great to see your Talk Talk and Mark Hollis collection..I was late to the party with Talk Talk and bought their last 3 albums on CD ( glad I made that format choice)..there's definitely a transcendent vibe when they're at their best..I did see an interview with him from back in the late 80s around Spirit of Eden period and you could hear how fired up he was about music and the desire to produce work thst was different..he certainly achieved that!. Now then Dale. Thanks for that overview, I do like a bit of Talk Talk. I love the progression between their albums, few bands have developed their sound as dramatically over the course of so few albums. Although I do feel that the jump between Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock isn't as drastic, probably why I'm not such a fan of their last album. I think Tim Friese-Greene doesn't get the credit he deserves, I doubt Mark Holis could have developed as he did without the incredible production and musical skills of Friese-Greene. Have you got albums by any of the spin-off groups, Harris and Webb's .O.rang and Friese-Greene's Heligoland? I think they show that Holis wasn't the only creative member of the group. I do love Holis' solo album, I bought the CD when it came out. When it was finally issued on vinyl I didn't get a copy, as I thought it was so quiet any tiny pop or click from the vinyl would ruin the ambience. I only recently found out that bassist Paul Webb also goes by the name Rustin Man, and recorded that fabulous folky album with Beth Gibbons of Portishead. Speaking of which, are you going to pick up the new album from Gibbons? Cheers - Hedley
I kind of panicked once I mentioned Mark Hollis that I hadn't researched anyone else but styled it out anyhow as nobody would notice, or if they did they wouldn't comment. Didn't allow for the Hedley scrutiny did I? Nothing escapes the magnifying glass...I'll look into the spin-off groups...I have the Gibbons/Rustin Man album (excellent), so will give the new one consideration. I bought the classical album where she provides vocals on 'Symphony of Sorrowful Songs' it was a bit over my head...
it was a bands discography that you have alot !!! how classic a band from MTV Talk Talk it's my life from MTV and on occasion MTV today the 80's they show there video!!! the color of spring , Spirit of eden , Laughing stock., the very best, Lifes what you make it do you have any of these albums on cassette or cd?

Talk Talk, that is a difficult band for me Dale. I have tried but the music is kind of out there and hard to dance to.
