- In this video entitled, Landscape Photography can a scene be too busy, I continue my journey in Assynt and the Scottish Highlands.
As you can probably tell from the thumbnail I had a couple of very productive days in Scotland. Because the locations were so awesome, I had to cull and cull again my collection of images from the 2 day shoot.

Some really good images there and competely different to your usual minimalist approach to photography. I particularly liked the B & W image at 17.47 which showed the texture of the rock and cliffs.

I went to Ullapool the year Princess Diana was killed. In fact I drove back from Oban on the Saturday am of her funeral. I spent 17 days in Scotland & we went to Sky on there newly opened bridge. £5.00 to get in & £5.00 to get out. Oh I think that has changed. We even stopped in Edinburgh to see the Tattoo. My big regret now is that I was not into Landscape Photography then so I don't have any pictures. Maybe one day I will go back, but it is a long drive from South Devon.
Stunning pictures as I watched in awe.
You'll have to plan a return trip there for your 30th birthday ;)

Gorgeous images! I struggle with all the chaos in woodland photography a lot. Where I a there are not a lot of choices, and the undergrowth is massively thick at times.

Looking forward to my trip up that way very soon. I love the landscapes in the far north, we have been there 3 times so far but there is still so much I want to take landscape photos.
Nice honest video Gary, I forgot my filters at the fairy pools in the snow, 2 & 1/2 miles to the car park needless to say I had to make the most of it

Thanks for that Gary, I love those locations and whilst you don't say where they are I recognise every one of them from Loch Assynt, (yes I've photographed those trees so many times in February under snow) An Teallach (the house is now a sort of bothy) to Durness and Duncansby. I can sympathise with you about the weather but that what makes Sutherland what it is. I've really enjoyed this series especially during the lockdown when travel to our favourite places is restricted

Absolutely outstanding Gary, I was up the Scottish North West in September but never got the shots I wanted to as I was driving my family around for 10 days. Next year if we are allowed out im going back on my own lol.
Love your passion for photography and its inspired me to get my camera back out and try some of your techniques.

Fantastic series Gary. I smiled when you stopped at the wee abandoned cottage on the Destitution Road, it's a must have image.
It's probably my favourite form the video. This location was the reason I went back down South before heading North again. I keep driving past the place but never bothered stopping.

I do love the way you show several images that you have taken, I get a real feel for the place. Although I can imagine it is a lot of drive, stop, walk, shoot & repeat. Like you loved the 3 trees shot at the start.
