  • @frightenedtreephotography4304

    Nice vlog Gary. There is always a place for a step-by-step tutorial such as this one with so many people picking up cameras for the first time. Photography is not an easy craft for a beginner but explanations like this makes the learning more interesting. When I started photography five years ago I started learning from books which is alright but videos such as this feels like you are giving people a one-to-one workshop and is far more informative. You are becoming my favourite vlogger.

  • @jerryhutchinson2543
    @jerryhutchinson2543 Před 3 lety +1

    Very good! I often use multiple exposure with a Lee filter to extend the exposure time beyond 30 seconds. I set up for the normal exposure with the filter then run 3 shots on multi. The camera blends all 3 (or however many are chosen) images into one. It's not a way of increasing exposure time versus that calculated by the light meter, but it does allow the extra milkiness with water because effectively the scene is exposed three times at whatever exposure is set thereby multiplying the exposure duration at metered setting by 3.

  • @dougiemilnephotography756

    Always enjoy your videos Gary, even the basic stuff like this - it does none of us any harm to go back to basics.
    But here's a useful tip that I saw a vlogger do years ago that you haven't done: attach a velcro strip to one leg of your tripod and the other piece of it to your intervalometer. That stops the intervalometer from dangling down and swinging about in the breeze, and you don't need to stand there holding it during really long exposures. Just remember to use the two second timer when taking the shot.

    this tutorial right here was probably the most useful I could find, as a beginner who just let his smartphone behind and started with a bigger camera. (OM-D E-M 10 Mk III)
    Most "tutorials" I found were all about "Buy this particular product" or "throw your money at that specific brand". Your tutorial was like, "remind the rule of thirds and use the basics to figure out your settings to get a similar result as in this image". And maybe use this free app, if you don't want to make the math in your head.
