No matter how much you know, there is always something to learn or re-learn. Great vlog, many thanks Gary.
Agreed 10000%
Great video - really well explained for a someone not used to doing long exposures but looking to try. Thank you Gary. I loved the colour image but the B&W works as well.
Every day’s a school day, very clear and concise. Even repeating the difficult parts. 😀
Great vlog Gary and very useful. I have to be honest mate and tell you that are only one a few photographers that I follow that have maintained forward momentum during these difficult Covid-19 times, so well done. Keeping it interesting and focused with superb and very clear delivery. Keep well and stay safe, cheers.
Excellent and detailed description of long exposure photography. Thank you.
Absolutely spot on Gary, top man on here for explaining things, I just wish some of the other CZcamsrs would take a note from your presentations, Thank You...
Thank you Gary, I learn something new every time you make a video teaching how you frame your shots.
fantastic gary!!!! thanks.
Top Vlog Gary, will give this a try very well explained.
Nice vlog Gary. There is always a place for a step-by-step tutorial such as this one with so many people picking up cameras for the first time. Photography is not an easy craft for a beginner but explanations like this makes the learning more interesting. When I started photography five years ago I started learning from books which is alright but videos such as this feels like you are giving people a one-to-one workshop and is far more informative. You are becoming my favourite vlogger.
Fantastic as always Gary and thank you.
brilliant Gary, very well demonstrated, and loved the final image
Another great video Gary, very informative
Fantastic video…probably the best I’ve seen on this subject. Thank you Gary!
Great Vlog Gary, to explain how to capture a long exposure. Been doing photography for many years but I still love looking at vlogs that go back to basics just to see if I've forgotten something. We can all learn more
Brilliant Gary. Very helpful thanks.
Thank you Gary. You explain everything simply which as a beginner is great. Cheers.
I bought that cheap 10 stop ND you recommended last year. It works great and the slight colour cast is easily corrected.
Hello Gary, a great video tutorial with excellent information on how to achieve long exposure photographs. The shots at the end are great. Thanks for sharing and continue to stay safe in these mixed up times. 😷
As always, Gary-very helpful and well explained. Great VLOG!
Great tutorial and lovely images.
Thanks Gary been struggling with filters and focus , will definitely try this out and slow down .
Great tutorial- thank you!!!
Just learning and you make it so fun and ez to understand
Very nice Garry.
Love your fine art images.
Great tutorial video Gary. 👌👌👌
great video, great capture, thanks for sharing
Gary, its such a pleasure to watch your videos because you make it so simple to understand things. Well done indeed, it takes an effort to make such incredible content. Thank you!
Thanks Gary, Great Video, very good run through of long exposure photography thanks
I am brand new to photography. I appreciate you taking this step-by-step ~ thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to do this tutorial. I always learn new techniques and ways to compose my photos.
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial, easy to understand 👍 great photo, image , picture
Always enjoy your uploads Gary I've learned so much from you your so good like I've said before at explaining what your doing.
Always brilliant & informative
Thank you very much for this tutorial. Greatly appreciated.
very wise words, excellent Gary
Hi Gary,
Another well executed video and explained very well.
Lovely images as usual.
Mate, that final image... 😮 👍👍
Brilliant Gary Thank you 👍
Another quality video Gary & I don’t normally do landscape photography.
I just really prefer the way you come across in your tutorials as you accommodate all levels.
Thanks again. Mark🇬🇧
Spot on Gary like it 😊
Very good! I often use multiple exposure with a Lee filter to extend the exposure time beyond 30 seconds. I set up for the normal exposure with the filter then run 3 shots on multi. The camera blends all 3 (or however many are chosen) images into one. It's not a way of increasing exposure time versus that calculated by the light meter, but it does allow the extra milkiness with water because effectively the scene is exposed three times at whatever exposure is set thereby multiplying the exposure duration at metered setting by 3.
Always enjoy your videos Gary, even the basic stuff like this - it does none of us any harm to go back to basics.
But here's a useful tip that I saw a vlogger do years ago that you haven't done: attach a velcro strip to one leg of your tripod and the other piece of it to your intervalometer. That stops the intervalometer from dangling down and swinging about in the breeze, and you don't need to stand there holding it during really long exposures. Just remember to use the two second timer when taking the shot.
Ty Sir for taking the time to educate... 👍
Brilliant Gary, more like this please!
Thanks Ian. Any suggestions?
Great stuff, thank you sir.
Another excellent video Gary, thank you very much. I did a double take when you recovered Bulb mode at 17 minutes odd having done so at 15 minutes but I see that it flowed better leaving the second mention in and it is sucha rare item it doesn't hurt having it twice.
I don’t know how many times I have come back to your video, either as reference material or just to enjoy how your explanation of taking a photo comes across as so easy to understand, so I am left with “ so that is how you do it” you certainly have a talent for communication. Cheers Gary
Really informative and well done. Thanks, Garry.
Thank you Gary 👍
Another great video with loads usefull informations
Very welcome, cheers Alex 👍
Just so enjoyable and some good tips, best guy on You Tube. Love your Fine Art photohgraphy and help.
Thanks Gary Fabulous I have learned something more about Photography.
Very well explained. Thanks 👏
Interesting and helpful. Thank you.
Maaaaan. The trick of Set your exposure, Then place the filter and then calculate +10 stops or use the app.!!! AMAZING! I Struggled a lot with this B shots.
I thought that was exceptionally well explained and thank you for taking the time to make the vid
Very well explained - thank you!
A Masterclass! Nicely done Gary 👍Del
Great tutorial. Great image.👍🙂
I've been watching your videos for a while now and although they have all helpful as a real beginner this is the most useful. Thanks Gary. I'm just waiting to be allowed to go more than 5km from home to try some of this stuff out. Keep it going please.
Bloody Brilliant thank you!
I must agree with Nigel King, you are moving along nicely with the uncertain times we are in, no whats in my bag or have you seen these filters round or square yet lol if you no what i mean. so good on you to still want to teach the basics of camera work, well done and I liked the b&w by the way.
You’ve got a new subscriber. Just watched a couple of your videos and like your down to Earth approach. Looking forward to watching more..
thanks Gary another gem!
Nice video Gary, well explained in easy in depth steps and so easy to follow. Very inspirational, have not used filters before but will give it a go.
Sound video Gary - great content & excellent explanation. I'd say great vlog for beginners & experts alike and those somewhere in between..... cheers
Great vlog Gary i've been looking for somebody like you to explain this type of photography in plain English, watched it over and over again Supered video keep them coming always look forward to your video's 👍👍
brilliant, thank you, Sir!
Very instructive video.
That last shot is simply stunning. Top work mate.
Thank you once again for a really helpful video. I know we have seen some of this before, but for me it is great to get a refresher. Thanks a mil.
Cheers Brian 👍
Thank you for this I have a Nikon d3300 and just tried the bulb setting and have a time setting as well will have to try it on a dark clear sky excellent vlog
Thank you
Very inspiring and useful, creativity and knowledge it's a thing you have to give and sell, love your work
Amazing
this tutorial right here was probably the most useful I could find, as a beginner who just let his smartphone behind and started with a bigger camera. (OM-D E-M 10 Mk III)
Most "tutorials" I found were all about "Buy this particular product" or "throw your money at that specific brand". Your tutorial was like, "remind the rule of thirds and use the basics to figure out your settings to get a similar result as in this image". And maybe use this free app, if you don't want to make the math in your head.
Great and very informative video, went to spurn point last week. What a Pandoras box it is of stuff to shoot. A brilliant place, you could go there over and over and there would still be something new to shoot. Thanks
I really enjoyed this video!
Fabulous Mr Gough!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 📸🎥🎬🎞📽👍🏻👊🏻👌🏻
Good tutorial and I love that picture.
Hi Carlo, thank you!
Great video not just for beginners we all need a refresher now and again, 👍👍
We had a pod of about 50 swim past Saltburn pier start of the week (bit of a flap getting my camera setup.🤷♂️) but got a few good shots.
Excellent video
Great image. I learn a lot from you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
My pleasure!
Gary - just to say thanks for the heads up on 10 stopper ND filters... I'm off to St Michael's Mount this weekend, so for autumn light, gonna give it a try! Appreciate the work you put into these vlogs!
Gary the king! Tks
Thank you for this video...So well explained...
Cheers Pete
Great CZcamsr! highly recommended :)
Thankfully for you
Excellent video Gary. Very interesting and very well explained. Thank you :)
Thank you
Recently discovered your channel and I’m very glad I did. Great stuff on it and very interesting. The end photo here was stunning. I’ve never heard of B mode and I’m clueless about filters. I’ve lots to learn.
All your video are always wonderful, whatever the subject.
Great tutorial anyway : I learned you push the histogram after defining correct exposure ... will give it a try
Cheers
Thanks for the Lee filter app, very cool.
Thank you great video 👍
Awesome as always Gary, I bought a Zomei 10 stop after last years video, but just changed it for a Hoya Pro ND, I have been out a few times with it and the images are getting better, mistake I made was I was shooting in AP. Thanks again.
Nice vlog Gary - easy to understand. I've just started getting into long exposure photography and did exactly what you suggested which was to start with some cheap entry level ND filters. They work just fine and the results are better than I expected.
same here...... bought a new camera, a new lens (for wildlife).... had to cut corners somewhere and bought cheap ND filters and shoot from an ancient, but very sturdy and heavy, tripod. Happy with the results thus far
great video Gary, I've not got a 9 grad filter, I think I need one, I try but its nothing like you get with my basic 10 stop, thanks very much
Great video, even for those of us at this for a while.
I must use my histogram more and not guesswork 👍
Good Job!
Hi Gary I'm a newbie on your Tatorials, love photography. Just starting out. Got my new camera ect. Don't really know where to start🤔 but I'm so excited to give it ago. Got know idea about lens. But thankyou for your help and tips best wishes Janie👍
Great tutorial, Gary. I hear the cheaper ND filters can create a colour cast but it can be removed in post-processing. Will invest in some cheap ones to try out the technique 👍
