  • Today I test out Testors Color Shift Spray Paints. There's several colors to choose from and they even have their own black base spray paint to go with them. I got very good results with these, I was pleasantly surprised.
    I purchased these at my local Hobby Lobby.

    Thank you once again Mr. Rex for another informative video. So many of my decisions in purchasing my modeling paints have been based on your reviews. Better to watch your reviews than spending money on products I had no idea of. I use to try stuff just to try it that I eventually just tossed.

    I don't know how you have the time to keep pumping out all this info, but it is much appreciated. I'm not a great fan of color shift paints however I'm looking forward to your upcoming tests of the SMS chameleon range (gotta be good coming from Aussie). I've used a few of their lacquers and a couple of their color shifts and pearls and they spray really well. Their support here is also fantastic. Congrats on your own range coming soon so good to see how far you have come from when I first subbed and you had like a few hundred subs.

    Although I enjoy and find all of your paint and product comparisons very instrumental to the hobby community in general, I would love to see you do some productions on Gunpla or model building and painting. Also how using certain products would benefit such builds and which would be the best accessories to use.

    I actually met the owner of SMS paints here in Australia and I was blown away with the colour variety that they had in the demonstration Rack that was on display at a model expo. I am very happy with the outcomes of the paint and I have used them on many of my builds. The finish is awesome and I recommend anyone to give them a try.

    Maybe it's just because it's over video, but the metal flakes seem to be not just heavy but big as well. Vallejo, Greenstuff World, and Turbodork color changing paints seem to have finer grain flakes.

  • @darkwood777
    @darkwood777 Před 2 lety +1

    The secret is that you really need large, curved surfaces to see the color shift well. Something like a motorcycle gas tank or fender seen under the sun is about perfect to see the shift in color. I've used all of the Testors color shift paints and am generally happy with them. The flakes are larger than some other brands of paint, so they can look out of scale for a small model. I think putting them on a little heavy is much better than too thin. If the paint goes on too thin, the flakes don't have time to settle onto the base surface at the correct angle, and that makes the color shift less obvious.

Iridescent Shimmer, Emerald Turquoise, and Turquoise Waters. I will say that of the options seen here, and from personal testing on my BattleTech miniatures, Pink Champagne, Emerald Turquoise, and Blue Galaxy are my favorite. Hi Rex. Just some thoughts. I really do like your channel & I'm subbed. But I can only watch so many plastic spoons being painted. Most experienced modellers will generally have one or two paint ranges they use, often just based on chance or availability initially, and on inertia after that. (And here in Ireland & Europe, the available ranges aren't are broad, even online. Few will order supplies from US and have to pay additional customs. Also spray cans don't ship between countries usually) . So I personally don't watch most of the paint tests, unless I want to know something specific (eg Vallejo or AK Metals compared to Al-Clad, which isn't available). However, there are many other areas that I think people would be interested in. Like your great 1 hour review (my wife thought I was mad) of cutters. Modelling putties, fillers, primers, polymer clays, maybe some tools (eg. I personally think based on work experience also, that Dremel are an inferior brand & Proxxon are superior). Of course, I'd hope you didn't have to pay for any of that stuff and would get it from the manufacturers! Anyway, this is intended to be helpful and constructive, because I'd love to watch more of that type of content also ( I don't model gunpla at all myself btw).

    While the name 'Testors' still exists, which (if any) colors they actually make themselves is questionable. Did example, the entire "Color Shift" line is actually made by Rust-Oleum. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as Testors it's not the only company doing this. Perfect example would be the spray & airbrush paints sold under the Traxxas & Pro-Line names, neither of which are actually made be Traxxas, or Pro-Line (and, truth be told, the Traxxas-branded spray paints are outstanding).

    I'm not sure whats going on with your sould mix this video, mate. Your voice is only coming out of my left headphone speaker, the right side is just static noise. It's definitely your sound mix because I hear sound from the right side whenever you move something to that side? Weird, it's not a interest killer but it is weird to get used to, especially when you're at the spray booth!
    Edited due to snumerous selling mistakes, bloody tablet,!
