Today we'll be looking at how this slightly bigger IINE Risecon tatacon does in taiko no tatsujin and how it compares to the official Hori tatacon. It claims it can roll 15. Bruh.

I HAVE A QUESTION
IS BUYEE ONLY FOR STUFF IN JAPAN?
(ALSO SORRY FOR CAPS LOCK)
I literally made a buyee acc this morning to buy a fumo and found this video a few hours later. im so mad
your channel picture looks like toph from avatar
@@amri8236 you're right
I really wanted this to succeed cause it looked so promising. I'm hoping there'll be something like a software fix in the future
yeah
im pretty much sold on the initial unboxing and hardware reviews earlier LMAO
I think it's fine if you're a casual
Usually cheap knockoffs don't have this much potential to be good, disappointed that the software was so buggy :/ Great review!
tokaku is like a mythbuster of rhythm game related products if they are working as advertised.
Bruh i like how the transition of the video with sponsor ads it's really well timing it's one of the best I've seen!!!!!!!
I actually own the IINE one and it's so worth it! I do not plan on doing any super hardcore drumming at all and the HORI drum is $40 more expensive here, if you're a casual then go for IINE :) Though I haven't tried on PC, on switch it works so well and it even feels modded after playing a while
If the drum itself is "better" but due to the internals it just doesn't work as expected, you could potentionally strip it and replace it with a known functioning motherboard and whatnot and use the drum itself with stripped internals from another functioning device.
Lowkey could also potentionally just see if it's fixable on the board itself, if a connection is a bit iffy etc. Or you could possibly just need to replace the sensors.
not worth the effort
@@checkit7528 ngl man hardcore rhythm gamers will do everything to play better
@@xxhyphenxx9365 If the latency isn't so low that you're literally sending your inputs backwards in time then you've still got room for improvement
I got kinda curious and looked at their youtube comments and aliexpress reviews for the drum and it seems to be sort of hit and miss. There's people who have the input problem on Switch while not on PC, some who have the problem on PC and not on switch, and others who have the controller work perfectly out of the box. There is also someone on aliexpress who expressed the triple note problem.
That's some great quality control right here.
You literally need to pray as much as you can to get one that works properly if you're planning to buy that controller, regarless of the platform.
All good reviews I’ve seen of it are people who only play normal/hard levels which are less demanding of the drum
simple answer: buy 3, 100% odds of getting at least one working one
@@bracoeth Wish maths worked like that
Iine just made a new Tatacon similar-ish to the arcade ones called IINE Taiko Drum Controller Pro Max. I'd love to see you review that one!
As an FNF pleb I'm so impressed by the measuring software that you use to determine the performance of all the controllers and keyboards you play rhythm games with. I always thought that the fighting game genre is the most hardcore and competitive genre of games when it comes to input latency and the importance of a good controller but I'm starting to feel like that might not be the case.
timing and latency is everything about rhythm games.
I mean, all that means is that you know nothing about the deep end of competitive scenes...
aahhh you finally made a review for this tatacon, i was thinking of buying it because it worked really well on the video they showed but i guess i was really right buying the hori one afterall
Thank you for these videos! I've been wanting to get a Taikoforce for YEARS and I think after this video (and another you did comparing the hori, taikoforce and the third party drum) i'm going to really try and get the taikoforce. I'm not very good at modding and don't have a lot of time tinkering with stuff I'm afraid of breaking lol Issue now is that the price in the Taikoforce has gone up immensely D:
Thank you for this review, I also had the same problem with the iine.
There are universal drivers for increase hz on usb devices, my old keyboard doesnt have a softwere but that drivers saved my osu experience so i think can work on that drum
This is helpful! I just got into Taiko via the Switch, and I'm looking into controllers..
I Didnt get any notification on this vid i i thought you Didnt Made any video love your VIDS
It's a good day when tokaku post.
By any chance, will you do a video on Taiko Rhythm Adventure Pack someday? Also great video! Had high hopes from the intro but guess the Hori tatacons remains as the go-to, huh.
Love that the outro is either Teo or something similar
You're like the only person making content like this, thank you
Maybe not the only person but definitely the best
@@redalchemy For sure, I don't mean to discredit smaller channels, I appreciate them too!
I'm waiting for this review from you tho!!!
I’ve never bought one and I’m looking into it so this is very helpful, I hope I can actually find a good one and become great at it
That was such a smoothe add transition
when tokaku uploads am happy
That was the smoothest ad transition ive ever seen what
i find it hilarious yet reasonable that the video had a sound test
Idk when i subbed but nice vids loel
looks cool, I wish I had a tatacon, I've been playing Taiko web with Rock Band drums with JoytoKey
wait....your pc wallpaper is so cute!!! ;-;
Oh so it works on the Switch? Am sold! :D
This seems really good and I hope it blows up but I wish the inputs get really good
since they're so similar in building (inside at least), can you replace the IINE PCB with the HARI one?
or just make a custom engineered board with raspberry pi pico or something
This is really cool. Which bachi do you recommend for people who haven’t gotten taiko no tatsujin bachi before and won’t damage the hori drum which is unmodded?
every bachi will destroy your tatacon if it isnt modded
thanks for the review! Do you have a video about bachi you recommend?
As someone whos taking percussion class i am very interested in this
Thank you for this detailed review. Couldn't decide between getting this or the Hori since their prices are similar for me. This is my 3rd attempt at finding a review for the iine drum. Finally found it using "hori drum review" as a search term
What a good sponsor
Don't even know what this is but I watched anyway 😂👍 good video
I wonder how to test if my drums have problems. So, I recently bought a couple of used Hori drums. One seem old with minor dents and marks.. I just can't find a way to test these drums properly since I'm new at TnT. What is that software you use on PC? Beside, is there any thing to clean the front after it get little yellowish with lots of marks?
off topic but the ending music activated my fight-or-flight response because of project diva on the switch lol
Yay a taiko video
I’m kinda relieved it ended up not being worth it since I just got my Hori drum a few weeks ago. Did the wood plate mod, but I still need to go back in and get the kat sensors, I keep forgetting to get the material for it. I’m also having a lot of issues getting the drum offset to work well when streaming to my PC capture ;-;
How do you like your Hori drum? I just ordered mine on Amazon and im worried by people saying you have to really wack the thing for it to register hits.
@@sarahhenry3607 just mod it
where im from i cant seem to get some kind of rubber to mod the tatacon ... what thickness is your foam tape that you used ? or is there maybe any other way to mod my tatacon ? (I have the Hori Switch one)
Hello. It’s 1:43 am and I’m watching a review of a fake taiko drum
Fun
Very fun
Hi im new...
Where can I get the official switch Taiko no Tatsujin Rhythm Festival drum controller?
Also, does that switch drum controller work on PC?
also I am a drummer, why do you do the rolls/drags like that when rolling normaly (as far as I know) will give you more points?
tokaku with an aubrey pfp>>>>>>
Oops I just bought the Hori one yesterday. No regrets.
I know this is a bit of an old video so I’m not sure if you’ll see this but I’ll shoot my shot! I just recently bought a Hori tatacon and I’m having issues with it registering my notes :( Do you think the foam tape method you show here will help it be more sensitive or the punch hole method with the cardboard? Or do you believe I’ll need to get a custom cut wood/cork board for it work better?
what's wrong with it?
If anybody wants to mod the KA. I used 0.5mm thermal pads that I had lying around instead of the 1mm tape that Tokaku used in the video.
This is so impress
Did you install joyToKey? Mine was not working as well, after installing the program and configuring the keys (as per product manual), the drum is way more responsive
Never gets old hewwo everybody
Would like to ask if you've tried any of the drums on Taiko Web and see if they work? Planning to buy a TataCon for Taiko No Tatsujin on PC but recently found out about Taiko Web and it's huge library of songs
Can you share wich drum u got? I just bought the game and I really need the drum! haha. Or wich one do you recommend.
The outro song is “teo”- idk just a song in project diva
I bought Taiko no Tatsujin for switch a time ago and I want a drum, probably I will get that drum or the other that have a mini control, in your opinion of this two what is the best? (it will be for Switch only)
is it ok to make mix with this 25cm drum reactor and the no brand (or DOBE) drum?
I mean put the no brand (DOBE) drum controller board to this 25cm drum
Buying it , wiring arduino , Yaaay 1000Hz drum ( i guess ? with proper code added , i don't have that drum i can't try myself )
I've never been so hyped for a product and then so quickly disappointed, I almost got whiplash
They are releasing a new bigger, better drum so hopefully it will live up to expectations
wow thats better than my tatacon
hi can you give the link to buy the same super roll bachi that you recommended? thanks!
so i recently got into playing taiko no tatsujin on my Nintendo switch, and I've been thinking about getting a new controller for the game. but I'm not sure i want to buy the hori drum, because if i don't end up using it that's $80 down the drain. are there controllers that you'd recommend that are cheaper?
there are pretty much only 4 controllers on the market: the official hori, the offbrand dobe, the offbrand iine, and the taikoforce. dobe sucks and will probably break within months, iine is too risky to get, and the taikoforce is $350. your best bet is the hori.
and yes i know i'm 4 months late so you have probably already gotten one
@@zezus001 iine is a lottery. It might work well on pc or switch and have issues in the opposite platform... It's a shame when it's your only option, got mine for the switch and it works surprisingly well there, but on pc sucks
@@EneRec How do you check if it sucks or not? I just got mine and with little experience Idk if it sucks or not.
Can you please let me know where to buy this foam tape you are using to mod the drum? I can't seem to find it anywhere
They look like those double sided foam tape. You probably can get those from stationary shop or DIY shops
what website do you use to test the inputs of the tatacons?
(btw, I'm also from Singapore)
Would it be possible to put the Hori electronics in the iine housing? Then you might get the Hori performance with the feel of the bigger drum.
I used this IINE drum before and it's exactly the same issue then I returned it back.
It worked great for me
when the double don or double ka note comes, why do you only single hit the double note?
After the hewwo everybody video the intro made laugh so hard... cool
So it works pretty good on the switch? Would you say better than hori?
I wonder if somebody could verify this, but I had the PS2 tatacon that came with Taiko Drum Master for years and recently picked up the Hori.
I felt like that the old PS2 tatacon had a similar size to the knockoff, was more sturdy and that they made the Hori smaller. I'm still getting used to it but the extra size is a dealmaker for a lot of us. Was the PS2 tatacon different or is it just me?
It's definitely different, it's got different materials, a vastly different stand, different sensor assembly, and of course there's the size difference. There were actually also different builds for different drums across the different games in the series, I have a drum from 2002 that came with the first ever PS2 Taiko game and certain things were different compared to other official PS2 drums I've seen. The most annoying is that the plastic that holds in the rubber rim, which, in my 2002 drum has the plastic filled in around the rubber nubs, meaning I had to tweeze out a ton of plastic to try and mod it
I love this game, I thought it would be boring, but I literally JAM OUT to this game. It’s like being at a rock concert, holy shit! I love playing the pirates of the Caribbean song lol.
Possibly stupid question but what are the larger / ergonomic drum sticks being used ? I have huge hands and he Hori ones are super tiny.
yes. although for the hori ones, you could try wrapping badminton grip around the bachi to make the grip thicker if it helps!
tokaku omori fan 2:01 very pog.
(p.s ayo the pizza here)
Hi! Would you happen to know if either of them, or at least the Hori, works on PC? (as the PC version of the game is now playable via Xbox Gamepass). Thanks!
She used both to play TAJPlayer/OpenTaiko on PC. I think both would work with the official game too
cool drum
What's the software used on the video to see the sensors?
Is the sensitivity better on the Hori drum even without the mod?
5:32 whats the name of the music here?
1:59 Tokaku's profile picture is Aubrey ?!
I just bought the Iine when it on crazy sale, only 30$. Does the problem of the drum only occur when you play at very high difficult mode?
Yup, it's exactly that. If you don't have the low hz problem (wich you can also fix on PC with some methods), you can perfectly play on easy/normal/hard! It's a great drum for begginers
How's going? Are you satisfied with the drum?
Buyee is why I'm broke. Found out about it a couple of months ago, and I can't stop buying things from Japan.
I've seen people buy so many interesting things from Japan with buyee. I've seen someone buy vintage cassette and audio players there and that's really cool..
@@tokaku yeah it's a great service, but can get expensive quite quickly. I've found some amazing NIB items that I would have never expected to still be available. Only thing for me is, gotta add $10 to every item for the standard fees, then whatever it cost to ship to Buyee, then $10 to consolidate it all, then whatever it cost to ship it all to me. My last order was close to $800 after all said and done. Love the service though
I did my own tatacon and I had problems with dropping notes and in the end for PC it was a VSYNC issue. I turned vsync off and I could play normally on taiko web, tjaplayer and others. Maybe that's the issue you had with this tatacon.
vsync... vsync in where though? nvidia settings? wha?
@@tokaku I know it sounds weird but it worked for me, I had to turn vsync off ingame (when possible) and at nvidia settings. I stiil can't get my tatacon to work with switch emulation even tho it's also in PC, it drops a lot of notes. But for taiko web and tjaplayer it solved my problems :)
I just got my iine today before I found your video. my Ka work fine but I have a problem with Don and I've noticed that the software have noticable latency, it make the drum voice from hitting the note so laggy (I've try changing my speaker and found out that it's not the problem so I concluded on the drum software). I've seen that modding it helps the sensor to be less laggy(?) So I'll try it. If any one know any other way to fix this please reply ;-;. Thanks for the info and vid btw!
Edit. For some reason it work perfectly fine in PC with low latency (tested using gamepad-tester) but sadly not ok in switch;-;. Still haven't mod tho.
Hello, does it have low latency on pc unlike in the review?
where did you buy the hori drum I NEED ONE
you can use wup-28 to overclock it probably
How much do you spend for rythm controllers?
I bought it and replaced the circuit board with the hori one
2:41 WHAT THE HECK HAPPEND TO TZECHIS HAND AND ARM!?!?!
fyi using wooden maibachi on a modded tatacon wears out the sensors like 5x more than using regular plastic bachi and its gonna die in like 3 months if you regularly use it like that
Cool controller
Morning
DOBE and IINE already exist for years and known for their inexpensive console accessories.
I have the knock off drum that comes with a controler in tha cable. is there a way to mod that one? Its pretty soft in the middle
as far as i know, no.
Been watching your video from different drum.. And yeah, because I am planning to buy a Taiko No Tatsujin game on my switch. No plans playing on PC. But I think after all the modding, HORI still the best option.
The HORI price is 3250, while the IINE drum is 2800, here in the philippines.. But it doesnt matter I think because theres a voucher when buying it.
Guess Ill go for Hori. Thanks for this.
MAYBE you still have the link how to mod HORI drum. lol
On PC you can try force installing a 1000Hz USB polling driver, seems like this device defaults to 125Hz on PC. This may stop other USB devices on the same controller from working fi they don't support 1000Hz.
so uhh, how were you planning to do that?
Watching this at 5am my time 🤣
It doesn't work on PC, works on switch but does it work properly on PS4?
this drum posed as a hori on crazysales. i got it and it didn't even work. it getting returned so hopefully i'll be able to get a real one
