Inspirations breakdown pt 2 - Valse and Nocturne 1

Chopin's Valse is a piece of music that had quite a direct inspiration to my composition, Nocturne no. 1. This video is a breakdown of the influences, similarities, and differences in each piece.
I was so sure when I first heard this piece in my head that this was a piece of music that had already been penned down by Chopin, but I just couldn't find it. And I'm glad I didn't. Although there are remarkable similarities in the melodies and chord structures, the overall difference in our compositional structure really changed the outcome of each piece.
