I don't know. I'm thinking there's going to be a run on defensemen in the top five. I could see Demidov being a victim of the Russian curse like last year, and maybe falling to five. Eiserman could also see a big drop and a guy like Iginla making a huge surge up the board. As a Hawks fan, I'd love to see a big, strong power forward like Lindstrom being on the receiving end of Conor's passes down low.
Blues fan here! If Jiricek is still available at our spot we absolutely pick him. We have a far greater need for a defenseman, and I think it's close enough that we don't need to worry about bpa

@@plrt6794 Someone tell Montreal that please... Last year they said they were going with the best available player, then passed on Ryan Leonard, and Matvei Michkov, for a right d-man (David reinbacher, who scored one goal this year). Bad mistake, that'll haunt them for years, probably worse then the time they chose Jesperi Kotkaniemi over Brady Tkachuk. Oh well, they better draft a forward this year with their 1st overall pick, and hopefully trade Winnipeg's 1st round pick for a goal scoring forward, (maybe they can throw in Reinbacher!!) lol. Habs need goal scoring badly. D's great, goaltending is good, plus some good goalies coming up, so it's time to focus on goal scoring, I hope it is anyway! lol.
@@toddlauretteHabsFan I'm a diehard Habs fan and I disagree with you based on what we are seeing from Juraj Slafkovsky. Everyone wanted Habs to pick Shane Wright but Montreal went with Slaf, the big guy who had the higher ceiling. Now it's just 2 years later but it sure looks like Montreal made the right pick. I wanted Ryan Leonard also but after seeing the way Slafkovsky has progressed this year, I will let the experts in Habs front office make the decisions. Its WAY WAY TOO EARLY to say that Montreal made a mistake with David Reinbacher. How about we wait at least 2 or 3 years to see how this pick pans out? That would be the smart thing to do since the scouts seem to know a lot more than we do. Show patience - specially with a young D Man - and then decide after a few years if Habs the right pick or not.
@@albertvanular433 Again i have nothing against reinbacher, it was just the wrong pick, Habs didnt need more D, they NEED scoring. I wanted them to choose Slafkovsky over Shane Wright, and I also wanted them to go with Ryan Leonard, but i figured if they didnt, they'd at least go with Michkov. They both, Hughes and Gorton said right before the draft, that they were drafting the best available player, not for position, plus i dont see what everone else sees in Reinbacher, is it the 4 goals in the last two years?? I actually have no doubt he will be a serviceable defenseman in the NHL, at least he fuckin better be! lol, Habs already had at least 12 defensemen going into the draft, and the team needed scoring, not more D. U can trust scouts over me, or anyone u want, but they aren't always right. I have been watching and playing hockey steadily for the last 44 years. Im passionate about my Habs, and when i think they made a stupid move, i am gonna let it be known. People dont have to agree with me, it's just my opinion, some people get right mad at me, for not wanting another defenseman on the team, lol. So again, i have nothing personal that i dislike about reinbacher, i am sure he's a great kid, at the time of the draft, and still, they didnt need a defenseman, but they went with one, and the least offensive one in the 1st round. And when it happened, i didnt know one Habs fan that was happy about it, literally every Habs fan i know, EVERY ONE of them, HATED the pick, and then some assholes sent reinbacher some hate mail, and then we all (Habs fans), seemed to feel sorry for him, and he was no longer a bad pick, all of a sudden. I stick to my decision that David Reinbacher wasnt even close to the best pick in the draft, and when we see Ryan Leonard, and Matvei michkov lighting it up, we r going to regret this pick so badly. Then every Habs fan will be like, see, i told u he wasnt the right pick, and then im going to put my fists out and just spin like a helicopter!! lol, oops letting my bad thoughts come out on the internet again! lol. I hope so much that im dead wrong, and he is a super stud. Right now, id honestly trade him for a high 2nd round pick. If u read all this, ur awesome!! lol. How similar stylistically is Catton to Will Smith?
There are similarities...I've had the pleasure of watching Will Smith a lot last season and he was just great with the puck on his stick. I've only seen Catton on video, but he does conduct himself in a similar manner by controlling the pace of the game when he has the puck on his stick.

Columbus badly needs a PPQB, they're going D for sure. Werenski is gonna split from there as soon as he can. And I would think Arizona needs the same. Chicago also needs D don't they? I could see Lindstrom dropping to the Habs in this scenario.

I like his simple grinder-like game paired with his dangerous shooting ability. Jiricek is intriguing but not sure where he’s at health condition wise. Thanks again for this!

While Seattle need Defencemen, they're better off taking someone else at #10 and getting a Kiviharju or Pulkkinen later in the draft.

SJS never had a #1 overall pick. It’s our damn turn! I have a horrible sinking feeling that we won’t get it tho. Although we have the best chance of anyone, it’s still a 75% chance we don’t get it. And I swear, if Chicago gets two #1 picks two years in a row, imma lose my shit! Lol. Please God, the Sharks deserve the #1 this year like nobody else.

That’s a dumb comment. They are poor right now but stockpiling young talent and drafts. They will be a vastly improved team in two years and the Shark Tank was (and will be again) a difficult place to play.
Grier has done a good job starting the rebuild.
The shittier the team the bigger the reward, should be the other way around.
The issue with that is the shitty teams would stay shitty forever. Some of them still do, but if a team is bad and also doesn't get to pick early they're not going to have the talent to help them claw their way back up. Add to that the fact that free agents are less likely to choose to go to a shitty team unless they're overpaid, the teams will be extremely talent-poor.
Definitely not the other way around. That would make no sense at all. For the sake of fairness, in every professional team sport i.e.: Baseball, Football, Basketball, Hockey, etc. the worst teams get the higher draft pick and that's exactly how it should be - otherwise crappy teams would remain crappy forever. In some cases they still do such as Buffalo Sabres who have not been to the playoffs since 2012 . 12 years and counting lol
