Despite how all the broadcasters mention his name, it should be pronounced as if there is only one "e". Zev. It's actually Ze'ev, but the quick way to pronounce it is with one "e". The name is Hebrew, and it means "Wolf".
Interesting! Thank you. I tried my best to copy how he says his name in interviews.
@@davidst-louis8315 I've seen some of the interviews. There is a Hebrew name that matches how he pronounces it. It is generally spelled "Ziv", and it means brightness, radiance, or brilliance.
He'll go in the top 7 of this class. His hockey sense, IQ and offensive upside are too good too pass up on.
Agreed completely. He’s incredibly smart with the puck
He's the Brzustewicz of last year, his ability to fool the opponents who are chasing him is awesome and he's always doing the best play under pressure, he's mister good decision like Brzust was last year. I think he's faster than Brzust a little bit, Brzust is more calm and Buium move more the needle.
Was waiting on this one
Those smart 6 foot passes are the sign of an elite player or a soon to be elite player.Smart, fast & high IQ.
When are you guys going to do another EP roundtable?
Early January
At 3:37 you mention that Zeem is a "high stem skater". Where can I learn more about what this means?
It means a player who lacks flexion in his lower body as he skates, at the knees and ankles. I talk about the consequences of this right after. It's a complex topic and too long to dissect fully in a short vid. You could do some research on skating posture. Even something like Laura Stamm's book on skating, old, but could help.
@@davidst-louis8315 Thanks I'll get a copy!
pretty sure he said high stance
@@meller7303 I did! Trying to work through this accent :p
I thought it was easy to understand! Great vid btw. Buium's numbers are crazy. @@davidst-louis8315
He’s the better player than Levshunov for me, but I’d rather have levshunov cause he plays bigger and is right handed. Which the hawks only really have Rinzel as a RHD in the pipeline rn.
True. They have to many leftys. Kourchinski passes up way to many open shots. Coach has got to get on him.
Korchinski is also the youngest defenseman in the league and lost his dad this season. Davidson will get a vet to play with him next year and i think youll see a completely different player. @tomslick2058
@@tomslick2058 Korchinski has never been a shooter or a goalscorer threat ever since juniors. It'll be great if he can develop thay but not something you should count on
In a way he reminds me of Makar. All the potential and ability to be amazing at the next level but just like you said, needs to upgrade his defensive play. Also reminds me of Lane Hutson is a sense. Minnesota and Ottawa will always welcome ya Zeev! High hopes for him.
I was thinking A. Fox type.
+1 on both responses. Just a very very smart hockey player
I am starting to doubt your guy's ability to accurately access skating. I feel like this is the fourth player you have mentioned that lacks high end skating due to ankle flexion. His stride and weight transfer are really good. I admit I don't watch alot of Zeev but I can't imagine calling his skating a weakness
Some other strides are more debatable, but Zeev is definitely one player who has to work on his mechanics. It's not a huge deal, but it will prevent him from making certain plays in the NHL. His skating looks good because he's always moving and always using it. That aspect is a strength. It depends on what you value really. We focus more on the mechanics than other outlets, but also value output (straight speed/acceleration) and the way players use their skating. In the end, he will likely receive a 5-grade (meaning an average NHL projection). Lack of ankle flexion is a common problem. We may have made videos on the prospects whose skating project closer to average in the NHL.
@@davidst-louis8315he's very similar to how Lane Hutson skates, maybe Buium has quicker feet but his posture and stride is very similar while Hutson is better at fakes, still less ankle flex then some other skaters with similar ability but I don't see that stopping both from being excellent top 4, maybe top 2 NHL defenseman. The talent and ability is there, there feet are always moving with a good blend of shoulder fakes.
Reminds me a bit of Korchinski both having some mechanics issues in their skating but still being able to use cutbacks and other moves to evade the forecheck and break out from there.
Yep. Great comp here for skating. Korchinski's lateral movements are a level above, but it's the same contrast. You will probably hear a lot of deserved praise of Buium's skating, too.
He would look great in Teal.
I don't know, his skating mechanics look pretty good for a defenseman. He might be the best skating D of rhe draft. I really like Silayev's mechanics. Parekh is quick on his feet but his skating is raw. Buium as better shiftiness and better foot speed.
You think this guy is potentially an Adam fox type player?
Maybe not as good but still up there?
He’s got 32pts in 22games which is incredible. Thats similar to fox’s production.
He has the Makar / Fox / Hughes processor but just not the high end generational skill, IMO. The 2 way IQ is off the charts though from my perspective. Just a very intelligent player.
Would you say Shea Theodore is a good comparison?
He's almost like a poor man's Makar. Similar 2 way high IQ and processor without the flashiness, playmaking and generational skill.
Good Comparison?
Poor man's Makar which is more of a statement to Makar than at all a knock on ZB. Same high end IQ / processor without the generational high end skill.
Noah dobson
Detroit has his older brother Shai Buium in the fold.
LHD is within the cycle of need for the Red Wings.
Yet Detroit needs to draft top flite forwards and keep doing so as they need this desperately.
Hawks need this guy.
Another left-handed D is what they need?
Macklin.celebrini.with.blackhawks.big.deal.
Please no. You'd have your Keith / Campbell set up again with him and Korchinski.
- Blues fan
Does he project to be like Josi?
Not as smooth of a skater.
Please montreal
If team members allow defenseman play such individualistic game(
im looking forward to seeing him on the leafs
Hopefully Celebrini is the guy the Hawks get. But if this guy is left at Tampas pick grab him. Can't see spending a real high pick on a pure defensive guy like Dickinson. Enough offense upside projects.
1st.overall.pick.blackhawks.macklin.celebrini.big.deal
Dickinson isn’t a pure defensive guy. He’s a point per game with a Lot of goals.
He’s actually very well rounded and he’s only going to get better
That guy ain't american
Born in California though?
His parents are Israeli
@@trsctr thats the criteria to be from somewhere. lol
Born in america = american
you've never met anyone other than a white person haven't you?
