  • The TYR Valkyrie Speedworks is an all-new performance running shoe designed to take on the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 and Adidas Boston 12 in the plated speed training segment. It features a full bed of beaded PEBA in the midsole and a plastic plate. In this video, I give an overview of the shoe and take it for a 12 mile progression run.

    Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT. Great look, great traction in all conditions, great tread life, almost no road noise. They do tend to hang on to smaller rocks and throw them out at highway speeds. I have them and love them. Will buy again if these ever wear out. I have 45,000 miles these and they still have tread left.

    Tyr is the norse god of war, and the namesake of Tuesday (Tyrs day). Older spellings of Tyr is Tiwaz or Teiwaz he etymology is related to the greek god Zeus, and the original deus/divas meaning simply "god" in latin. Pretty damn interesting when you read up on it!

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Před 4 měsíci +4

      They are really similar looking and on foot. The only difference that's meaningful is the plate - other than that they feel identical. I got a little more speed assistance in the carbon but it's almost an endorphin speed 2 vs pro 2 situation where the rides are super close together. Speedworks would make a great budget racer like the speed 2

    As a mid to forefoot striker, foam in the front of the shoe is more important than the heel, so low drop shoes like the TYR that put a few more mm in the forefoot appeal to me. The flat bottom of this one concerns me though, as my favorite shoes, like Mach 5 and ES3, feature good rockers.

    A bit late to the party here, I got a pair of Speedworks and absolutely love them. But after a few 10k+ runs, I found the hardened piece at the toe box upper area gave me pretty serious black big toenails (from toenails banging against the hard fabric). I have never had this in any other shoes in the past. And the length of the shoe TTS for me vs other well fitting shoes. Wondering if you came across this issue?

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Před měsícem +1

      it definitely feels short to me at the front in my normal size. i think i could've gone up half a size and that would've resolved the issue - i believe it's because of the aggressive toe curve at the front
