This is Grandma from Texas. I’m 70 soon and been a follower of Jesus Christ since I was 16. I sang in a gospel quartet for 5 years. Gospel, I’m a veteran. This by far is the best rendition of this precious old hymn I have ever heard. Seems to me the way Amazing Grace should be sung. As far as Dan Vasc reactions. Go to his channel, close your eyes and point. Thank you for this reaction

Absolutely agreed! I'm 73-1/2, and like you, I've sung heard and sung the song thousands of times (and played it on my trumpet, on the piano, and other instruments, as well). It's ALWAYS one of my favorites, and I have never heard anyone hit the mark with it like Dan has, either. WONDERFUL!!! 😀

(On my birthday) I was diagnosed with COPD 13 ish years ago, and had the whole ball & chain of the 100ft tubing and O² concentrator as well as the mobile giant bottles. I'm so thankful that God has completely healed me of that so now I'm able to sing again! My Granny played the harmonica beautifully! At family reunions and holidays, we'd gather round the piano and play and sing hymns for hours! Some of the best memories of my lifetime! My twin plays a little piano, but excels at the harp! My momma and daddy both sing, and momma plays the banjo, piano, and her dulcimer! I can't wait to sing with all the angels in the Heavenly choir!! Dan does the best I have ever heard on Amazing Grace. He is outstanding/ awesome which both is an understatement.
Dan Vasc is beyond incredible with this performance, i've seen reactors be blown from their seats by this, one reactor was so moved they even knocked their camera over when they hit the floor
Yes! The anointing on this is VERY heavy. Many people have recognized that for what it is, but others have simply been "blown away" by the power. Such a gamut of emotions has come through all of the (over 100, I believe) reactors, not to mention all of the "just plain" listeners. 😀
I've heard many many renditions but this one makes you feel the meaning completely.

When dan talks metal hes refering to iron maiden, Manowar, Helloween, angra, skid row and the like, a more classically trained approach to metal.Hopefully you check out some more of his stuff because this song is just a small taste of what he can do, i suggest his cover of wuthering heights or carry on both angra songs
Dan has a very eclectic song list. He sings everything from power metal, folk, music, obviously hymns, opera, and all sorts of things in between. This is definitely a rabbit hole that you need to go down.

I was lucky to have a fellow Dear from Brazil recommend this singer last year. Dan Vasc is incredible. He has some great songs on his channel. Amazing Grace is finally bringing him the recognition he deserves. Have you seen the video of Dan and Gabriel sitting on the lounge with an acoustic guitar and tamborine singing "Eye Of The Tiger" unplugged?... it's absolutely brilliant,,, just their two voices and no fancy tricks, not that Dan needs or uses them. I think the video is from Karla Bessa, she does a lot of Dan videos with a slightly different take on the original and she does some that are compilations of Dan and other artists who have made covers of some of the music Dan has done... they're pretty good...😁

Never heard Dan compared to Dio and am not a metal fan (or wasn't until I found Dan) so I can't comment on the comparison. Do know that Dan is all about power and up-lifting.

He has more covers than hair, and he has a lot of hair. I have not been disappointed in any of his stuff yet. He covers Disney, Female vocalists, Elvis American Trilogy. ad nauseum. The next most amazing two for me are I'll make a man out of you from Mulan, and as an entire chorus singing Handels hallelujah.
Yes! I also love both "Angels We Have Heard on High" and "Adeste Fidelis," plus "Son of Pain," "Nessun Dorma," and both of his Elvis covers (especially the trilogy, which was for his father, within days of his passing away). There are a few of the metal songs that I don't care for as much, but mostly I love them (yes--even at age 73), and have noticed that nearly every one of them features a victory of some sort. Dan is all about POWER and victory, and NOT defeat.

He's done a cover of Holy Diver by Dio. Dan is absolutely amazing and can sing literally anything! Any and all of his songs are worth listening and reacting to. Explore his channel, and dive deep. I highly recommend listening to the entire All Covers playlist, oldest to newest, to see how far he's come since he started. I've been a fan since only 9/15/20, when I first heard The Sound of Silence. There's something for everyone on his channel.

This rendition needs to be played at every church on Christmas Eve service/mass. I'm a Metalhead from 1986/87 and raised Catholic, and although I haven't been to church for about 10 years (for several reasons, health being one of them) I still can get choked up about a good church hymn being sung with power and passion such as this.
My three faves of Dan Vasc are amazing grace, the song of the white wolf and loch lomond.
This song dates back 339 years ago. It was written by a man who helped abolish Slavery. I once was lost but now I am found. So, powerful. I would rather walk this world alone rather than give up the peace and joy God gives me. He has plucked me out of dark dispair many times.
LOVED your reaction -- especially your facial expressions when he hit the harsher vocals. I believe his preferred metal genre to sing is power metal which is a perfect fit for his voice, though, as other commenters have mentioned, he can and does sing everything on his channel, and exceptionally well at that.

This is very much on par with Disturbed's SOS. In fact,, Dan did a very good cover of Disturbed's version of SOS, which is what led me to following Dan Vasc. He is awesome and well worth a deep dive. 😊

Now you need to start going down all of the different rabbit holes on his channel. He does quite a few different types of music, AND he definitely has originals (with his band "Fearless," which includes his brother Davi). He's Brazilian & Italian. I think you would love reacting to his Christmas songs (easy to spot)--especially if you want to see the full gamut of his range (HUGE). He sings a one-man choir version of Handel's "Hallelujah [Chorus]" from "The Messiah," which is...well...I encourage you to find it and see what you think (grin). I used to sing the highest parts in that song, for many years, at Christmas time, with many different choirs. I repeat...he sings ALL the parts. I hope you do react to it. 😀
Speaking of subscriptions--Dan is pressing toward 1,000,000. Since he posted "Amazing Grace," there have been a TON of people subscribing to his channel, who had never known he existed (I'm one of them). I started watching the numbers go up after I first saw the channel, and was pretty amazed. On 06/15/23, I began a chart. He was at 798K by noon on that day. For the next three days (up to the 18th), his daily total was raised by 1000 subs, and he was at 801K. On the 19th, he was "stuck" on 801K. On the 20th (which has just turned to the 21st, CDT), he hit the 802K right about noon. I'm hoping that by noon today, another 1000 subs will have occurred. At that rate, he should reach the 1,000,000 mark by the end of February 2024 (perhaps before). We're all rooting for him.

When i was in basic training in 98 lol we sang the national anthem and the army song every day for a month. We sang this song i think once in cadence like the way for us soldiers.This amazing grace is amazing.
