Don't forget that these were discovered in the mint director's collection when she passed away. There is also one example that has been found that didn't have the "tear drop 4".
Blows my mind that the mint director blames the coin collecting community for the coin shortage then takes away mint marks. In the meantime she is pumping out special strike coins and putting them in her collection.
I trust nothing the govt tells me.
I always enjoy watching your channel. You're always throual and I'm not scratching my head afterwards with more questions than I had before I searched. Thank you!
I just found two of these!
Interesting, never knew. No I have to look at the ones I got. Thanks for the Intel. 😎
Another really cool video man. I'm gonna search all my '64's for this one. Thanks for the info.
Great video Blue I spent loads of dough to find one of these!!

Interesting video as always. Thanks for the share. All the Best ~ Shirl
I own 3 of these sms Kennedy's.
Very cool, great info as always. Thank you BlueRidge!😊
I don't think there were a billion of the 1964 Kennedy half dollars although it might seem so, there were about 430 million of them minted, which is about half a billion. Love your channel Thanks
I got a pointy chin 2008 Lincoln cent...and its almost a spike !! Keep 'em coming, blue ridge. !!!
Ty Silverhound for the learning experience here an awesome channel.....Louie
I just picked up one of these, I’m comparing Two coins and ONE of them is Really prominent next to the other. WOW! I’m SO happy I watched this video! Idve Never known
Thanks for another great video. I will check the few I have 👍
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing the information.
Great, nice to know, somehow I miss this video, I think I was on Vacation!!
Sounds like someone from the mint got out with a handful of those 64 experimentals. Thanks for the info i will be checking mine
Great you acknowledge the edge I commented on coinhelpu's video where I believe there should be more images shown about this as its a big indicator of this 1964 sms half dollar. The more you can show and acknowledge about identifying such a coin should be out there so people aren't saying they have one without all identifying indicators of such coins. 👍
Ok maybe I don't have one. Lol
Never heard of this type thank you 😊
Another terrific video, thank you Shaun
, thank you very much for all the information you always help
Their are around 30-50 1964 SMS quarters, which would mean the penny, the nickel, the dime, the quarter and the half dollar all would have the same amount. Im sure some are lost or destroyed but still their is a lot unaccounted for and havent shown up.
i would like to show you some pics i have of my 1964 silver coin.I love your videos. thanks for your knowledge
Whoops!🎈 😎. I’m ready now to go! Kennedy 1964 how about that 12 examples even, this is very new to me .Nice Info. I like it & looking right at the coin, good camera shot. Thank You BlueRidgeSilverhound! 🎈👍👍🎈👍V
Does the top of the ear look different to you? It seems more detailed than the business strike in the side by side photos.
AWESOME news for another rare coin!
Hey Shaun I really think I have the 1964 Kennnedy Half . It’s in a plastic holder , I bought years ago because it s my Birth year. But I’m very new to this hobby. Because of you’re videos, I have found ,I think a lot of coins! From 1 5 gallon water jug. And a couple of coins I bought at a second hand store. Should I take thiscoin out of plastic? To put under my new coin scope??
Thank you Shaun.
Great Video thank you very much.. I recently inherited a coin collection from my grand Dad and there is a Half dollar on a Necklace set and it has very sharp edges and and the little teardrop underneath the 4. Who would i send pictures to to verify the coin due to me living in Germany..

Hello. I have a similar proof like 64 quarter with the CNC cut lines down Kennedy's neck. Very nice coin. Part of an inheritance from my grandfather, who was a co-founder of a local bank. Needless to say he picked special coins for his personal collection. How do I research this quarter? Thank you, Kenny
May 25-2021. Thanks, I'm going to find one

Hi Raeina Ngatuakana here I have 4 Kennedy half dollar's from1964 to 1965 1966and 1967
Nice!
How do you know if you have a proof 64 sms
I have a Kennedy half dollar that only weighs like 10.6 grams...could it be valuable?
The actual story is, there was a shortage of coins in the 60s due to hoarding, so the mint was to remove silver from coins starting in 1965. Also, to curtail hoarding, they would remove all mint marks from coins, even though all three mints produced coins from 1965-1967. The SMS was produced to allow the Philadelphia mint to produce more business strikes instead of tying up presses for the slow process of proof striking. So a dozen sets were created, and at one time were the possession of one collector. They eventually got broken up and sold off. But no, you're not going to find one of these in loose change or at the table at the local show's bargain bin. People knew these were special for a while now...
Good info, thank u! Do they have experimental SMS for the 1969 half dollar as well?
I have a silver 69 Kennedy, struck on a silver Blanchard

I have two of these with the lines under his ear and on his neck and they match the ones on my 66 67 SMS sets also the markings on the 4 and the doubling on the W I’ve never known that was anything special about them until I just watched this video I had noticed a long time ago that they had those lines on the neck and cheek just like the 66 and 67 but thought that’s how they all were
Is this different than the accented hair variety?
I have to JF Kennedy's coins 64 + 67 and I don't know what to do help me please
Happy Easter BRSH. My brother is getting married in few hours so gotta be quck with my question. The coin in your video is Auction#1239 Lot#5545 sold at HA 9/7/16 which shows serifed I in liberty..dangled 4 in date of obverse indictive of a normal non-accented strike....reverse shows broken rays 11-13 & straight G. Now onto Auction#1114 Lot#2704 sold 7/30/08 at HA..obverse has serifed I but no dangled 4...reverse shoes broken rays & straight G. Both reverses are the type 1 & both obverse show normal strike. My question is would a 64 example with the type 1 reverse be considered a SMS or SP(specimen)?? I have 3 examples with type 1 reverse & 1 was confirmed to be a straight G. 4 examples with solid rays & flaired G. What are your thoughts???? Thank you in advance for any info & may you have a Blessed Easter!!
What sites would be the best to show pictures
I have a 1996 D Kennedy half dollar, with the A on the word Half miss print, the A is missing the lower leg looks like a reverse 4, can anyone point me in the right direction to find out value. The coin is in excellent condition
😢I have a 1964 and a 1967 I was in the States in 1971 my auntie worked in a bank and always said keep these safe
I have. Meny of. Them Two is golden fillet with gold stamps
Do all them have a tear drop at 4
I have one kinda looks like the one on the right, it kinda looks like a mirror coin but not gonna say it's proof because that is a big word to say, and it has a lot of micro skratches, thoug it doesn't have that double strike thing. well I really wish if it was an SMS coin, not to sell it, but to have something kinda special 😊
Wow I have one !!! Now what do I do ?
Wasn't there more on the reverse on this SMS coin? Line break in the between 2 stars? Plus. A straight "G" no flag?
I stumbled across your post on the '64 dollar with the edge ect....... I think I've got one!
My great grandfather gave me it around 45 years ago. I have images I could send you to see what you think? Ps, thanks for the presentation, I've sub'd too😎🙏. Dx
Hey there stranger you got me bustin out my lone 1964:now. Excellent video kind sir I would share but I'm unfortunately riding out a 30 day ban on FB so until the 28th all I can do is smash that like button my friend SMH. LOL
If I’m not mistaken I think there’s three or four stars on reverse side where the line does not go through them
Yes - they refer to them as “ rays “
And the “ accented “ hair that
( supposedly Jackie O ) did not approve of and asked to have changed . ( look
It up )
I have a 64 half dollars error star
I noticed a what seamed to me a diff on the inner ear of the half dollars you were showing. Correct me if I am wrong on thst sir. Be safe. Peace.
Thanks. Great vid! His “jowls” or beneath his chin looks different as well.
Hello have one coin 1964 kennedy half dollar!how sell it?thanks
I was born June 11th 1964. A woman that I met gave me one for my birthday. This point has not been processed through people at all. It's excellent condition. What could you tell me to be able to get it checked where? Thank you for your help I appreciate you very much.
I'm sending one off to PGS. I'm sure it's at least an accented hair. But compared to any other coin I've ever seen. The reflection given off is really cool. I'm hoping it grades at least 63 or 64 accented hair. If it comes back as one of these. I'll be happy! But I doubt it. Like I said I'm sending it to be graded cause I'm pretty sure it's an accented hair at least.
i have 1964 kenedy half dollar how can i sell it and where
I picked up a roll a week ago. I couldn't believe what I was seeing in the middle of a 72 coin was a letter 2.. it looked like what they call a sm. Date number two. After looking at it underling a microscope, it's so clear I have heard some strange things come out of the mint, have you ever heard of anything like this? Where do I go to have this checked maybe a new rare error?
Got one
I have such a coin. It was in circulation. Fortunately, the time is quite short, as you can see on it, but it is not battered. Personally, I think it's the most beautiful American circulation coin of the twentieth century. The more I learn about it, the more closely I look at it. I'm seeing more and more anomalies on it and I'm starting to wonder if it's worth sending it for a professional assessment and risking unnecessary expenditure of money because it seemed to me something. U.S. coins are a difficult subject for an amateur from Europe.
I bet somewhere out there there's whole rolls of them put up and never even looked at by grandma's and grandpa's for the last year of the 90% silvers, just waiting to be uncovered.
It was at Philadelphia. They don't do anything small scale. Must be 50K of them out there.
And surprising they didn't also test the dime and quarter since they were testing for the SMS.
Just shows you how indistinguishable the SMS coins were compared to circulation strikes except to the trained eye. There's probably also 1964 SMS quarters and dimes out there also waiting to be discovered.
Many melted down for "junk" silver by the people who don't care enough to look for the sake of numismatics. Just melt melt melt money money money..
I have a 1967 Kennedy half dollar in the letter I is some letters what are they and I also have 2 50cent Kennedy half dollars that weight 12.0 grams what are they
