    Glad to hear such a positive review on this. Can’t wait for my copy to arrive sometime in the future.

    The characters are more differentiated than Yomi? That is a claim I would need explained. Yomi did a clear job making their characters VERY different.

    I just got this today. My only complaint is while yes I have everything and it can fit into the box it's because its just a box. There's no insert, no dividers, no tuck boxes, nothing. So unless you want 500+ cards just fumbling around in a big mess you'll have to figure out a better storage solution.

    • @DwarfyDoodad
      @DwarfyDoodad Před 4 lety +1

      Sandwich baggies. That's what i did for BattleCon while waiting for the Tuck Box KS to deliver. It takes no real investment to have 12 sandwich bags in the box, and it's not some stumbling block. If it had an insert then you would wind up removing it if you wanted all the expansions in one box. The box itself is not large enough for inserts holding 10 characters and that would be your complaint if it had an insert. The insert would literally be useless and thrown away if you bought the expansions. Similiarly tuck boxes or dividers, again this is *not* a big box and it would have to be bigger to have the things you say are "draw backs" and the price of the game would go up because it is more expensive to produce for content you either throw out or don't use.

    Can you compare Combo Fighter to Way of the Fighter, and EXCEED Fighting System?

    • @drstclair
      @drstclair Před 5 lety +2

      I've played Combo Fighter and EXCEED. Exceed is much deeper and about positioning as well. Combo Fighter feels very luck based, more so than EXCEED.

      @@drstclair I own EXCEED: Seventh Cross, the complete line of Way of the Fighter, and went all in on Combo Fighter.

      Battlecon ?

    • @DwarfyDoodad
      @DwarfyDoodad Před 4 lety

      @@JoachimErdtman I got one of the Exceed sets out of a giveaway, it feels like a lateral comparison to BattleCon and not it's own thing. I own BattleCon and outside of the give aways, I am unlikely to go out of my way to purchase Exceed, BattleCon is just better.
      I did get Combo Fighter amusingly enough through some error I never paid for it but have the full set and between BattleCon and Combo Fighter I am really scrutinizing other fighting games, Exceed is still down on my list, perhaps more so because if I want to play something heavier I go to BattleCon, if I want something lighter and faster i do Combo Fighter. I think where Exceed struggles for me personally is that it is too much like Battle Con which I love while the differences aren't enough to make it worth having both.
      If you have Exceed you don't need to get Battle Con, just focus on Exceed, Tom has said that Battle Con and Exceed are mostly interchangable, though he likes BattleCon a little bit more I think it would apply for comparison when he compares it to BattleCon. He *might* like Exceed a little more but it depends on the person he is playing with.

    when and how to draw cards ?

  • @SuperPilotMike
    @SuperPilotMike Před 5 lety +1

    So theoretically you can choose wrong every time when the single card is played and literally never have a turn? Sounds like a great mechanic. Hated it when I saw the Kickstarter and this just verified it for me.

    • @malcomchase9777
      @malcomchase9777 Před 5 lety

      That sounds hard to do even intentionally. But yes, assuming you just randomly pick a card every turn, it would be like dice never going your way or drawing the worst possible tiles each turn, etc. etc.

      @DiegoDeschain Před 5 lety +2

      Yeah, for me it's not the art style, I like that, it's the art direction that bugs me. Half the characters look like they're about to tell me to check my privilege. Bleargh.

    This game looks pretty good, but when I look at the characters/character designs of other games like Yomi, Exceed, Battlecon etc., the character designs in this game look boring as hell. As someone who owns those other three games, I can't justify this one.

      Kalleu Castro I was thinking the same thing. And since I didn’t like Yomi, there’s zero chance I’ll like this blatant Yomi rip-off. Tom says this one is better, but no matter how much you polish a turd... yeah.

    • @darinherrick9224

      Yomi like other fighters is just too bogged down in mechanics. This game does what a fighting game SHOULD do. It plays, fast, fast, FAST!!!!
