Love Biota! They got me started in the hobby with their tank a year ago (amazing customer service btw), and I quickly spun down the rabbit hole into obsession. Had to expand to a 66 gallon about 8 months later. Love what they're doing with captive bred fish.
Thank God I stumbled upon this video! I have been researching and researching on how to start a frag tank. Well I found out they sell complete setups for a great price so I will look no further now. I'm buying the 13 gallon complete setup from them. Great video and thank you!
I would have no problem paying the extra $20 per yellow tang!! Especially since there are no more wild caught from Hawaii.. Glad to see someone captive breeding them!! Thank Jake! Hope Reefstock in Denver is still happening in Feb'18??
@@mikkelkirketerp4884 , didn't know if u knew... Yes, my Large Blond Naso Tang was bought for $79 and if you can even get one these days, was $900 last year for same size mine is now.. That is fricken ridiculous... Everything has doubled or tripled in price, and not just fish and coral.. Just dropped another 2K$ on 4 lights, so this hobby ain't cheap no more... Did a tally mentally on my system and have an easy $15K invested by now just on equipment ;( But it is one of two addictions I have next to fast rides (hand rebuilt Saleen Mustang and hand built pro-stock 117cube wide-tire Harley;) Parts for them ain't cheap either..
Wow! That saltwater aquarium kit is very well priced. Imay look into something similar here in Australia, might be a good starting point for me. But it will take time. I'm currently happy with my Tropical Aquariums :)
I think this Guy love so mush his shop that he feel at home that’s why he walks like that, at least he share his progress with us and we can learn something from it, let’s look at the positive part and let’s block the negativity part
Great video! I have been binge watching a load of your videos learning everything I can before my first saltwater tank comes next week! It’s a Red Sea REEFER 250 and I have had to give up my birthday and Christmas for it 😄 (for 5 years). But I have one question: I have picked out fish I would like to stock the tank with but I am not sure how many I can put in, so I was wondering how many fish would you recommend me put in to my 200 L salt water reef tank
Well as much as I dig what they are doing it's useless if they only whole sale and idk who they sell too... would love to get a trained mandarin from them some day. So if you could get a list of their clients that would be helpful.
I just bought a captive bred female Mandarin from algae barn ....they only get a few a week to sell and they email you as soon as they are in stock. I was 10 min to late last week but I lucked out and got a female this week . Good luck 😊
If you take less than 3% from our oceans. Are good enough of a breeder to put more than 10% back. And bother to put some back. THEN you're someone who'd I'd deal with.
neat video, although those corals man... xenia, green star polyps... argue all you want about being pest free, those are two of the largest pests that get sold to new hobbyists all the time.
Well this hobby has never been really cheap anyway and i guess i won't get cheap in the future. It is a hobby so i assume you have to keep things decently cheap to attract new ones to the hobby. Otherwise the hobby will go away eventually.
20 dollars more to save or ecosystem... why wouldn't you i understand its more but to save our environment i rather pay the extra money plus they seem healthier
omg "HE DRAGGED HIS FEET.. SO UNPROFESSIONAL" lol.... What a petty thing to comment about. His facility looked awesome and Biota is innovating the marine hobby.. Much respect to these guys.
For the sound of him dragging his feet to be in the video of him showing off his facility is unprofessional. they can still be innovative but that is lazy / unprofessional to have in a showcase like this.
Simply amazing. I hope more and more fish species keep on coming from captive breeding. Thanks for sharing, Reef builders.
captive bred is something everyone should support.
The hobby needs more places like this! Keep up the good work

Those clams stole my heart ♥️

I need 2 hour videos so I can watch this in bed till I fall asleep
Awesome work these guys are doing. Shows a true Hope for the future of our hobby. I cant wait to own one of those mandarins.

This didnt age well ;) oh my have they skyrocketed in price!
@@mikkelkirketerp4884 , you do know Jake has passed away?
@@zanimal4u yes, and?

Amazing work, respect and congratulations!
You guys are awesome putting these together for people! Id love to get one :D
Such a great video! Very informative
Also thank you for making these videos for us! 😘
Wow.....Some cool fish.....great set up👌🏻👌🏻

I would love a Yellow Tang and a Coral Beauty from Biota. They are the last two fish I will be adding to my 90.
Oh my gosh that all in one system is totally doable for me. I found my way into my first saltwater aquarium.

I'd totally go to Palau for a vacation but I read about how hospitals/health services aren't that good there. Maybe some day I'll still go though.
Great!!!!! now I'm going to have to buy this tank
Awsome information!!!!!
Great video
Really cool idea the all in one buy!
Funai Reefing is doing this too. Pretty sure they don’t believe in pillaging the ocean for our reef tanks
And of course is raining in Florida as always, Jake they only sale to retail stores correct?
wow captive bred yellow tangs thats awesome
Awesome place
Cool video

I would buy one of those prepackaged systems
Awesome
I wish this was available in the UK. I’d love a marine aquarium.
Captive bred yellow tangs went from $60 to $400 real fast
Impresionante
So where do i go to buy captive fish I went on their site it said only Clowns. Why?
This is my dads company see the girl with tangled yellowish hair, that’s me
Tee hee!
What is light white/green broccoli coral?
Hey Jake I saw you at the Aquarium king the other day lol I barely recognized you i thought it was a look a like
Yep I was definitely there, too bad it seemed like that shop was having a bad day. Shoulda said hello!
apparently someone poisoned the tanks with a chlorine tablet that week. By time I realized it was you , you were half way out the door lol
Awe I wish they shipped into canada😢
I don't get why rabbitfish are popular to eat... I tried a dusky spinefoot it was sooo bad
Six years ago he guessed it would be $60 - $70 For a yellow tang. I got mine for $90 wholesale last year and they're now $165 retail.
over 200 around me
I love clams but I want a cleaner wrasse and cleaner wrasses pick at clams😭
... I want the frosted white top for my evo
What food did he say they feed the blue mandarins when they get a little bigger? Sounds like callanus but I can't quite make it out, ~5:10
Dominic Martino You had it. Check out PE Calanus
Probably cyclopods
That's what I have heard
Well as much as I dig what they are doing it's useless if they only whole sale and idk who they sell too... would love to get a trained mandarin from them some day. So if you could get a list of their clients that would be helpful.
TheWoolyninja4 they sell them on their website to consumers! In singles and pairs.
I just bought a captive bred female Mandarin from algae barn ....they only get a few a week to sell and they email you as soon as they are in stock. I was 10 min to late last week but I lucked out and got a female this week . Good luck 😊
Awesomeness
I’d love captive bred tangs,
are the mandarins not fighting?
I understand the quality they're providing.... But their prices are pretty high..!
Tidal Garden is high quality and not near that expensive...
u said bout Palau? u mean Palau in Philippines?
Haha no I meant Palua with a Capital P, East of Philippines.
Sadly they say the reefs will be gone by 2100. Sad!!!
$659
1:59 what is that beauty?
That's a pulsing xenia
First. Award.
Watching in 2022 and retail at $60
Is no longer a thing lol now closer to $300
Did he just say 60-70 $ for a yellow tang?
That seems reasonable for a captive bred one. In Australia a yellow tang can easily be $100 and up!
Reef Builders I know, here in UK they are about £50/ $70ish. I would be more than happy paying twice that for captive one.
60 to 70 for a yellow tang. no thanks.
60-70 is high but since the state of Hawaii has closed to catching fish for our hobby this will soon be the only yellow tangs available.
You pay a bit more but its more sustainable, the more we can move over to capture bread the better.
Well this hobby has never been really cheap anyway and i guess i won't get cheap in the future. It is a hobby so i assume you have to keep things decently cheap to attract new ones to the hobby. Otherwise the hobby will go away eventually.

Biota aquariums are overpriced
drags his slippers the entire video... couldnt be more professional to show his facility?
omg "HE DRAGGED HIS FEET.. SO UNPROFESSIONAL" lol.... What a petty thing to comment about. His facility looked awesome and Biota is innovating the marine hobby.. Much respect to these guys.
