What people need to consider about facilities like this is the more efficient we can make aquaculture, the less of an impact our hobby has on the ocean.
4 years late to the comment but, this is so true. people are so hypocrit. its fine to take out from the ocean than aquaculture? i think not. this is way better than harvesting constantly out of the ocean
This is pretty cool. Yes it's pretty heavily stocked but that's common with fish breeding. I saw no unhealthy fish, all very clean tanks and water so imo nothing wrong here. A well thought out breeding setup and expanding.
Great video and this way of raising Clowns for tanks is better than catching in the wild when they used to knockout fish. Once the fish are sold they mostly go to owners who treat them like gods.
Thanks Jake for showing us a truly amazing sight. I have come to Clown fish keeping at the age of 70 having come back to UK from working in the desert more sand than water. it is a true eye opener.
Thanks for all the work in producing these vids. Great looking clowns. i’m all for captive bred specimens, but i’m still partial to the common strains on the market. It’s a lot of hard work to do what they do. Thanks again for sharing!
I absolutely abhor any deviation from naturally coloured clowns. It was an Ocellaris clownfish that got me fascinated with marines as a child. Saying that, i am over the moon that people have found a way of making enough money to sustain clownfish culture. It is a fantastic thing to lower the impact our hobby has on the wild. Great video Jake and i hope that and any other facility like it flourishes.
really interesting setup, it seems the asian market just really knows their shit. also interests me how they dont seem stressed with so little space, i wonder how that works
The aquarium in Monte Carlo has a tank with hundreds of clownfish and they display the same pattern of ball-schooling in one ball even though the tank had lots of space.
This facility is beyond belief, it truly is amazing, I have never seen so many clown fish under one roof, and the water quality is Cristal clear. When the more unusual strains become more available to the world market, it’s going to be awesome. The breeder is truly dedicated to his hobby/ business, fantastic video, cheers 👍
UV light from ANY fluorescent is definitely known to stimulate the onset of melanin, the black pigment. But the red color is mostly affected by pigments from food
Stephen Olner it's not really about what people say, if you have 70 clown dish in a tank, you cannot go 1 week in holiday anymore. So to breed some and keep maybe a handful of clown fish sure isn't a problem, but nobody can mass product them as a hobbyist (or anyway it's not a hobby anymore but a job ^^)
Most western hobbyists don't have access to tropical waters, stock is expensive and daily salt water changes are prohibitive both in time and money. This reminds me of goldfish just with salt.
@@robert6106 Most asian hobbyists don't have enough space, Don't have cool waters. Tanks and other equipment are expensive and we too don't have time. What you are seeing is a fish exporter so they have to cramp fish. our fish shops are small even the famous ones are small while for western countries most fish shops are the size of supermarkets. We make do with what little space with have and cramping fishing together is how we keep livestock cheap. I'm sure your fish shops would do daily water changes too.
Truly mesmerizing….i would literally work there for free just so I can be around such beautiful fish…. You can really tell the owner has a passion for all those fish I didn’t see NOT ONE dead fish in any tanks…. Kudos to your for making this video new sub here brother
Can you please tell me about the broodstock feeding habit followed over their for maturing the sub adult clownfish and a big thanks to show the variety of clown fish.
At my local fish store there was this clownfish with the normal orange white and black stripes but the dorsal fin had no black it was really cute though I’m gonna buy it when my tank cycle is finished
Hello, I love the setup your filming. I'm interested in the "over the tank biological filtration". Can you give me the name of the company that makes it?
It's hard to tell what the right "density" is for these fish. You can make a point that they are showing their natural behavior with these balls, and they would probably feel less safe in smaller numbers. And that's actually what these fish do, if kept in home aquariums in small numbers, they scare like crazy. If these fish felt stressed out, they would grow badly and be very susceptible to disease.
When people in the Reef Builders FB page comments, crying because they hate clownfish mutations. Look, at least they aren't taken from the wild! Looking forward to more mutation! Please focus on good quality long fins!
This video is mind blowing I love all the different pattenation ( my husband only likes the original occelaris type so I don't think I'm going to be getting anything like these anytime soon 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😍😍😍😍😍
#44 at 12:45. i just got a breeding pair from the local shop. they said they ordered a group of around 75 clowns from Taiwan. im gonna guess i just got some of the last really expensive pairs thy had from last shipment. im gonna get matching sea hares.
I have true Percula clowns and I'm thankful to have them in my tank and they thrive. True ocean clowns are the ones you want to have. Would you want a Ferrari wrapped in Green and Blue with pink and yellow stripes or would you want a true red 458 Italia? You might as well get a freshwater neon Tetra.
Cool video once again. I would've loved so their rotifer and pod production - or was that off limits too? Any other pages regarding info for marine fish breeding? I'm reading into it atm. There's not too much going on in Europe regarding captive breeding :(
I kind of panned over the food production on the way to the larvae, but definitely check out the Coral Beauty Video for a look at hw it's done on a large scale. czcams.com/video/AqK6bu3g538/video.html
What people need to consider about facilities like this is the more efficient we can make aquaculture, the less of an impact our hobby has on the ocean.
highly underrated comment, absolutely.
Agreed. That is the most important thing in my opinion.
4 years late to the comment but, this is so true. people are so hypocrit. its fine to take out from the ocean than aquaculture? i think not. this is way better than harvesting constantly out of the ocean
And soon we have clown fish like we have goldfishes..... I'm for protecting the ocean but against overbredded fishes
Should have never made hybrid marine fish. It’s not natural and if some get let lose in the wild you’re going to ruin the eco system
Rip Jake 😢 The hobby has gained tremendously from your years of work and knowledge...Shall the legacy live on forever!!!
This is pretty cool. Yes it's pretty heavily stocked but that's common with fish breeding. I saw no unhealthy fish, all very clean tanks and water so imo nothing wrong here. A well thought out breeding setup and expanding.
Facts tho
Damn Jake, I’ve learned so much from you. Some of my favorite videos. You will be missed
Great video and this way of raising Clowns for tanks is better than catching in the wild when they used to knockout fish. Once the fish are sold they mostly go to owners who treat them like gods.
I guess I am boring because I like just plain old clownfish.. Although if blue colored ones were produced I'd be down for those..
Thanks Jake for showing us a truly amazing sight. I have come to Clown fish keeping at the age of 70 having come back to UK from working in the desert more sand than water. it is a true eye opener.
What an amazing place! Thanks so much for taking the time to show us! Big thumbs up!
That was amazing!! Thanks for taking the time to video for us. Love the ball schooling so insane
Thanks for all the work in producing these vids. Great looking clowns. i’m all for captive bred specimens, but i’m still partial to the common strains on the market. It’s a lot of hard work to do what they do. Thanks again for sharing!
It's really hard to beat a perfect mature specimen of many wild clownfish, I'm partial to bluestripes (A. chrysopterus) and wild true perculas myself.
Thanks Jake for your hard work. Love these beautiful clown fish.
This vid is 2 years old but it is still the most amazing video on captive bred clownfish.... Totally thumbs up!.. 👍
I absolutely abhor any deviation from naturally coloured clowns. It was an Ocellaris clownfish that got me fascinated with marines as a child. 14:28 can we talk about the fact this clownfish literally looks like he has a skull mask on!?
The things I’d do to have such a beautiful fish I swear
Awesome variety of clowns. Oive that nanobox shirt as well, Dave rocks!
AWESOME! I really enjoyed the videos from all your stops in Taiwan!! Safe travels!
It is mind blowing, I have never seen that many clown fish before.
Thank you for sharing this with us. :)
Thanks Jake for the time it took to take this footage & For the generosity of the owner as well. Amazing clownfish and facility
really interesting setup, it seems the asian market just really knows their shit. also interests me how they dont seem stressed with so little space, i wonder how that works
most amazing fish store ive seen..
The aquarium in Monte Carlo has a tank with hundreds of clownfish and they display the same pattern of ball-schooling in one ball even though the tank had lots of space.
Is no one going to call out this guys talent and passion for these fish I didn’t see NOT ONE dead/sick fish in this guys tanks absolutely beautiful
Can you post a link of your distributor, for these exact clowns
I love this guy. I was so sad to learn he passed away and the circumstances around it.
At least he got to live his short life doing what he loved.
This facility is beyond belief, it truly is amazing, I have never seen so many clown fish under one roof, and the water quality is Cristal clear.
When the more unusual strains become more available to the world market, it’s going to be awesome.

Jake, keep up the good work! But get some rest soon!
Thanks AOmega, been catching my breath in Australia the last few weeks
Totally Awesome! Thank you for sharing this with us! Keep it up!
'Aquadancing'.....does exactly what it says on the tin 🕺
Thanks so much for such a cool video. I can just imagine how cool it must have been to have been there in person.
I love Clown Fish, they come in my top 5.
Nothing can beat the original clownfish
Love me a wild true percula clown
Love this video Jake, what a treat to have visited 😍
ive been doing some testing on 4 month and up fry with different lighting for growth and also for black coloration
UV light from ANY fluorescent is definitely known to stimulate the onset of melanin, the black pigment. But the red color is mostly affected by pigments from food
Reminds me of a puppy mill
What will be Interesting is when breeding moves from the Labs to the hobbyist
Stephen Olner it's already possible and is done but is simply too much work for hobbyist
Touli Loup they used to say the same thing about breeding discus
Stephen Olner it's not really about what people say, if you have 70 clown dish in a tank, you cannot go 1 week in holiday anymore.
So to breed some and keep maybe a handful of clown fish sure isn't a problem, but nobody can mass product them as a hobbyist (or anyway it's not a hobby anymore but a job ^^)
Most hobbiest breeders dont go on holiday anyways. I know I didn't when inbreed discus
Omg..! Everything types of super clownfish! Speechless. Very² cool man!! Regards
I hope you can make video like this more details about the system
This kinda sucks watching all these amazing captive bred clown fish and at my only local saltwater fish store they are all wild captured
boycott them hehe
I’d pick captive bred fish cause they’re almost always easier to keep
just gotta order online. i have 2 LFS. one sells wild caught clowns and the other is captive bred only
I love the reef stuff but that bonsai tree is crazy
also these fish probably live here for about 2-4 weeks since demand for these clowns is so high [btw this is just a guess]
That's pretty cool that they ball school so tight. It almost looks like a bee hive or something like that. They are all pretty fish.
Hey Jake! Love the video. I’m going to try to swing by there and do a Matt’s reefrank special as I ride thru the area. Thanks for the overview.
You're 'riding' through Taiwan?
Cant blv my eyes,
Those clownfish can’t stop dancing,
My fav 14:30 🏆
The best intro music on utube
Mozart's or Picasso's? What an awesome experience! What an amazing, incredible experience. I love it!
Beautiful fish and facility.
Beautiful clown fish. Tanks for the video.
What an amazing place, I bet some of those clowns are worth thousands!!,
Great video Jake 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Western hobbyists always harp on tank volume while Asian fishkeepers main focus is on filtration
Most western hobbyists don't have access to tropical waters, stock is expensive and daily salt water changes are prohibitive both in time and money. This reminds me of goldfish just with salt.

Awesome. Thanks for video
Awesome video man! I love clowns so much!
Damn, those are some nice strains!
Phi Le not strain its a morph
Badass farm! The amount of water being changed and filtered has to be crazy!
How come people say clownish harem tanks are almost impossible to keep long term, but then you have a place like this?
Why do we not have stores like this in the US?
Jake!!!!!! Wtf this place is mind blowing!!! Wow I seriously have to get me a clownfish ..... Have a safe trip back home ✌️🐟☮️
Wow! Amazing! A question: aren't they 'jumpers'? Because as far as I can see, the tanks are pretty shallow and there are no lids.
Can you please tell me about the broodstock feeding habit followed over their for maturing the sub adult clownfish and a big thanks to show the variety of clown fish.
Amazing video and amazing fish, super cute balls of clowns, wow! Clown fish is numero uno!
Mmmm all Askoll motor block return pumps that I could see there. Smart move for a facility that needs reliability and simplicity of equipment.
AMEN Brotha!
Great video as always.
Cant wait until the offspring of that blue blending under the black spot clown fish. I want these fishes
I wish I could order a pair
This is the best clown fish video i have ever seen.. i was in clown fish heaven!! Thanks for such a bad ass video!
I'm glad you guys liked it so much, it was definitely clownfish overload at this farm!
Wow this is crazy impressive!
These fish look rlly exclusive
wow incredible! Good work Jake
awesome i want to buy that fish
You forgot to record the massive bonsai plants at the beginning.
These fish are named after famous artist etc Leonardo da Vinci, Picasso, bob ross,
@Squirrel I need a Bob Ross LOL
Sorry, I am really not an art afficionado, but seeing BOB ROSS named in a row with da vinci and Picasso even hurts me :-)

Absolutely amazing footage 👍🏻
That fish at 14:37 reminds me of lucha libre
The clownfish army!
Reminds me of touring joe lichenburg’s old fish room
#44 at 12:45. i just got a breeding pair from the local shop. they said they ordered a group of around 75 clowns from Taiwan. im gonna guess i just got some of the last really expensive pairs thy had from last shipment. im gonna get matching sea hares.

Wow that's a lot of clown fish strain
It was amazing thx!!!
It's hilarious that Westerners criticize the Far East's fish keeping practices when the best fish and invertebrates come from their.
Purple Groundhog Our big chain stores like Walmart, Petco and Petsmart can be horrible. They can neglect their fish especially their bettas.
An the fact that us westerners constantly have dead fish in our fish store and buy fish only to kill them due to lack of knowledge lol
Codyman isn’t that every country
There**
Come from their what
Its that cooling system with calcium reactor in sump filter???
How do u order them and how much?
WOW Made 2 years ago Any in states Orlando?
Buddy, Where do you get all the money for the studio and the world trips ?
Great video
