    Wow, pretty impressive how easy you made that look, I've always thought it was near impossible to net fish in a reef tank. I'd like to see how you do it in a taller aquascaped reef tank. I have a clear net for catching reef fish while diving, but have never seen the clear plastic specimen tub technique.

    Great job Jake in corralling the yellow tangs together in one take. 😊 introducing more tangs into my 600g will be somewhat of a challenge but I plan on putting 4-5 more in there with the 7 I already have under cover of darkness. I have plenty of rock work for them to hide as well as alot of swim throughs for the fish so I’m hopeful I’ll be able to pull it off.

    When it comes to a favorite tang, mine is the Mimic Tang since it's a more affordable option for a yellow Tang and buying them bigger and fatter is better since they have been in the store being fed the same flakes and pellets you will feed them at home. My Mimic Tang, named Melanie, is very active and loves her Ocean Nutrition Formula Two Flakes and Hikari Seaweed Extreme Sinking Pellets and even fights the damsels for the food. She's one of the more docile tangs I know but I will be adding a powder brown, a sailfin, and a white tail bristlerooth in her tank with her and maybe I'll try to redecorate the tank to reset it and they will be added at the same time.

    I can't imagine how much 5 Yellow Tangs cost. Haven't seen them for sale for years at my LFS. I've read that you can have multiple tangs if they are different genus? That all said, I have two 6" Blue Tangs. I have some chasing, but it isn't bad. They've been together since they were much smaller though. Wish they were a pair, but no luck with that.

      Same issue here, I got two hippos ones slightly smaller. I took him when a friends tank crashed and they were fine but i started noticing the bigger one chasing after the other and the little one hiding.. I am now revisiting trying again now that I am looking into getting a 125 6ft tank. Maybe it was due to the small tank. I am gunna try these tips.
      After seeing aggression I separated them. And my LFS wont take them cause they have 12” one there and he looks absolutely miserable in a 2x2, takes up the whole space

    • @johnatella8498
      @johnatella8498 Před měsícem

      @@MaxK-p7y I have mine in a 125. Both are about 5-6”. If you can, go bigger. I am looking at a 220, but it is still 6’ long, which doesn’t really change a whole lot, but it does offer me the opportunity of adding some other larger tangs…I wonder if having 3-4 Hippos would be better than 2.
