You always seem to have the most realistic and usable advice! My wife and I really appreciate all that you've shared online. We're planning on getting 2 tangs (Yellow and Yellow bellied Hippo...very young, very small and at the same time) for our 90 gal tank with plans on expanding to a 250-300 gal tank within a couple of years so they shouldn't outgrow our plans.

Stunning tank! What parameters do you keep your 300 at? It looks like you are getting some great growth out of your corals.

I primarily only have tangs in my system but I kinda just get my collection of what I want and add them all one shot deal. Then thats it lol, the few times I've attempted to add additional tangs they've either caused ich outbreaks or died because they were getting picked on. I plan on upgrading from the 150 to a 220 and when i make that change I'm going to add 6 more tangs hopefully it all works out well

Good tips on adding multiple tangs Travis. I have 3 tangs in my Red Sea reefer and have hardly any aggression except for the occasional tail slapping.

Always so sketchy adding tangs. I just picked up a pair from my LFS. A yellow belly blue and a white tail Thompson. I was only going to get the blue but they were in the same tank and looked like they paired up. Watched them for about 10 mins and decided to get them both. They are super happy and tang out together all day.
Seems like an option for anyone looking to get multiple tangs.

I've got a 210g that I've been adding stock to. I have been trying to go with the least aggressive fish first and increasing in the aggression as they complete quarantine. I've got a few wrasses in quarantine now. Next group of fish for the 210g will be dwarf angels. Last group will be tangs. I also have a 50g cube. The main fish in this tank is a clown tang. He's about 4 inches. Initially, I wanted to put him in the 210g, but I think he may out grow the 50g before I am ready to introduce tangs to the 210g. I also think he'll be too big and will bully the other fish. Thoughts?

Can anyone tell me if Acan coral shed. This morning I noticed a light film on it,took a turkey baster and blew it off. Also, noticed the same on our candy cane coral, although, some of the candy cane coral's tentacles were out for the first time I noticed. I believe this to be, because, we started using Poly Booster along with Reef Roids the other day. Enjoy this channel very mcuh and appreciate your assistance. Dan

Please guide on adding fish order please. Iam setting up a 180gallon tank with minimalist rock structure. Similar to luo's reek tank. Sump is 65 gallon with brick media.. skimmer and refug.
I want to keep 2 sets of clown fish occerlaris pair and black ice pair. Blonde Naso , powder blue, yellow, regal, one bristletooth(either 2 spot or sqaure tail)(maybe sailfin or not if advise). And six line, red coris and a pair of leopard wrasse. 2 or 3 blue green chromis. A foxface. A schooling banner. I like my wrasse and tangs very much. Please advise the order/method to put tanks. I plan to get small or juvenile if possible. Also please any utilitarian fish would be appricated.

    Any suggestions?
Two weeks ago powder blue was set free from behind egg crate in 180 with powder brown. For 24 hours it was fine, then brown wouldn’t swim tank and stayed in front right corner with Blue swimming the tank keeping brown there. No fighting but I separated the blue. Should I put them back together and only separate if the aggression gets out of hand?
    Thanks, Dave

  • @strat1960s

Oh My Goodness! I'm stocking up my 210g. I got a naso tang and a bi-color foxface a few weeks ago. They're in the 3 to 4 inch range. I've had a clown tang in a 50g cube for almost a year. It's a solid 4, maybe 5 inches, and much too big for the 50g. I transferred it to the 210g and within an hour had my naso and foxface in a corner. I am trying, like you suggested, going with a few feedings of algae strips each day to try to reduce the food related aggression. I'll give it some more time to see if the clown mellows out. I found myself rooting for the foxface to stick the clown. Does that make me a bad guy?
