I'd really like to see Erin put a Cambridge Audio Minx Min22 in that Klippel. Not enough that I'd pay $300 for a pair and ship them 😂 but I'd enjoy seeing how they perform. I have 7 of them and think they're great (also with a mandatory sub).
I've been interested in those speakers ever since I saw Joe's video raving out the setup, but the pricing is so out to lunch in Canada. A pair of those monoprice speakers cost as much as a pair of Elac debut 2.0s(Around $380 Canadian.)
Same here. At one point they were close to $200CAD per pair, and the 5 speaker plus sub combo was around $500. I wish I would have pulled the trigger then, but our house was still being built...
Looking at these as desktop computer speakers with the sub!
The current pricing is exceptional so in your shoes I'd probably get a move on.

As of this writing you can get 5 of these satellites and the Monolith 150 watt 8 inch THX sub for $409 per set. That's crazy. I'm so mad I don't live in the states, I'd buy two sets. I'd put one in the garage and one in the bedroom just because of the low price and good performance. $409... The sub alone retails for $350. $409 is basically half the retail price for the set.

Thanks Guys... Erin.. Maybe you could try the Ascendo "The 6" 's next!! My dilemma at the moment is wanting coaxial heights/atmos.. but wondering wether they need to be aimed at MLP because there are no coaxial "in ceiling" versions of speakers that are angled for aiming. Thinking about these Monolith vs Ascendo "the 6" wedge vs Focal Dome Flax vs Triad InCeiling Rotating Silver/9SAT vs KEF coaxial in ceilings. Cant find any real info / comparisons for this! Thanks in advance!
I picked up two of the Monolith 8 inch THX subs a few months ago for my desktop setup. I am using them alongside a MiniDSP DDRC-24 and a pair of Kali Audio LP6-V2s.
The subs sound really good - I have them in opposing corners of a small room, and get even lower bass than Joe with them (their responses START dropping off around 23-24hz, as opposed to that being the -3db point, with surprisingly low distortion at good output). I run them in extended 1 mode and i plug the ports to avoid chuffing, which I could notice before.
For their price, I think they’re great. I will say though, I was hoping they’d sound AS GOOD as my dual Monolith M15 V2’s, just at significantly less output, but that’s simply not the case. The larger 15’s have a “tightness” to their notes that I haven’t been able to achieve with the 8’s, even in the small room at low volumes. An unfair comparison probably, but something I thought I’d mention.
Price aside, I’m really curious how the Monolith 8s compare to their 10’s and 12’s…
The THX 10" is significantly larger and the amp is more powerful. Not really a close comparison in my opinion. Just looking at the two drivers, you can tell the 10" is built to have a higher excursion. Same for the 12" and larger versions.
Also, I don't think it's designed to be sealed off. I've asked specifically, and the port plug is just to keep things out in shipping. It still works, but there's no specific tuning with that setup in mind.
@@joentell that’s interesting about the port plug. Yeah, I didn’t see any documentation about it’s specs in sealed mode which had me thinking, but at higher SPL with the port open, I could definitely hear noticeable chuffing. I took REW measurements and besides the expected lower output, everything still looked flat, but without the noticeable chuffing/mechanical sound noise I was hearing when running sweeps with the ports open. I figured in my small room with two of the subs, I’m not really in need of SPL anyways.
@ErinsAudioCorner I'm interested in these for multi channel music at my desktop. For the price it looks like they can't be beat. I'd love to see a comparison of these to the Aperion Audio A5. Similar size and coaxial, but more money. Erin, you mentioned a while back you would be testing some Aperion Novus models. Any chance you could add the A5 to your list? Thanks!
How do these work for atmos height speakers, mounted on the ceiling? Say as opposed to satellite speakers stolen from a JBL Leviton 5.1 HTIB?
I use them as heights mounted high on a wall. I have one mounted as a VOG speaker also but using a speaker mount for safety. 20x20x9ft space and no issues with volume since I cross them at 100Hz+. - Joe

I have a 11x13x8 movie room. My center is 8’ from my listing position but my LR’s would be 8.5’ away. I currently listen around -17 to -21 depending on content. I never listen anywhere close to reference. Would you guys recommend this system in my situation? I’ve been watching your videos on these speakers for months. Thanks, Tom
I think that's above the recommended spec for the THX Compact certification.

@@DIGGERS881 Love it! I get oddly excited about this setup because it's what I was hoping subwoofer/satellite speakers would sound like back in the 90's. This system delivers on that promise

I know this is just me being salty but it pisses me off but I’m getting 1 million videos about these things six months too late now they sell for $250 a pair or $800 for the 5.1 and for that price there’s no way they’re worth it.
