Remembering Danny born on this day May 13th 1950. One of the unsung guitarists with an incredible talent and could play many styles of music. On fire 🔥 🔥🔥🔥 when duelling with Peter. RIP 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

Talk about ‘Killing the Golden Goose’. Mick Fleetwood what we’re you thinking?

To Mic's credit, he shrugged off Bob's earlier demands. I say that because if he hadn't, the Bare Trees LP as we know it, would have never happened.

@@RobbyByrne I’ve seen interviews, as I’m sure you have were he appears to be bragging about sacking Danny. Not something I would like to draw attention to if I was Mick.

@@seanevans1300 I agree. I felt it was wrong of Bob to disclose he was trying to get Danny terminated much earlier than previously thought.

@@elowyn9664 Somewhat confused. Are we talking about Bob Welch or Danny? Who would be considered an eccentric and floundering guitarist? Or is it someone else you're referring to. And please expand on creative input and jams. I get Mick was in it for the almighty dollar, but we're talking about 1972. Appreciate you helping me out here.

Talking about Bob Welch and the type of person he was.

Apropos of Danny Kirwan's FM time with Fleetwood Mac, it's impossible to know whether he found Peter's departure a creative burden or not, but it's important to remember he was as affected by the Munich incident as Peter was, and that was one of the factors that changed Peter irrevocably. Thereafter, Danny's drinking reportedly became unmanageable, and the version that is most commonly told about his sacking is that he decided to sit out a FM concert and then critiqued the band's performance after the show. Post FM, Danny didn't have much of a solo career, releasing several unmemorable albums.
Danny and Peter dueling on guitars set the template for two guitar led bands who jammed and was imitated by the Allmans among others. To his credit, Danny wrote some memorable songs, although here "Coming Your Way" does sound like a variation of "Rattlesnake Shake".

Appreciate your perspectives, Tim. Danny flew off the handle, no doubt. However, some things to think about. This wasn't the first time Danny had issues with Bob over tuning or whatever they were arguing about. Danny injured himself during his tantrum and he was in no condition to play that night. Third, could the situation have been rectified later on. There were no warnings / talks to improve the situation. Mic stated, " what Danny did was unforgivable." Was it really? Could the members have sought help for him? No. They told Mic they no longer wanted him in the band and the rest is history.

Seems to me Danny was left with far too much responsibility when Peter left, and not much support either. Just shows how talented he really was that despite his problems later on he still shone in performances. 🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶

Sadly Danny simply drank too much. He was very emotionally unstable according to band mates.

So glad I found your channel @robertbyrne8589. Wonderful collection of my favorite old school rock. Was soaking this up at 14 in 1970 and now after years of absence have returned and enjoying so much. Have you been able to find film footage at all? Seems very little is available anywhere. I’d love to see footage especially of Danny playing. Thanks again.

Bob Welch couldn't cary Danny Kirwan's guitar strap.
