It’s time to start testing some pellets and slugs out of our Avenge-X .177. We’ve got 8 projectiles to put downrange in our first set of tests at 25 yards. Which will come out on top? Will the Avenge-X shoot pellets better than Slugs, or will I finally have my .177 slug slinger that I’ve been looking for? Let’s find out!

Holt crap is right. Amazing how much better those slugs did than all the rest. Can’t wait to see how accuracy and shot count changes on low power. And both power levels in .22. Thanks Rick. Tons of good info.
I saw the power setting, and it lever was set to H. Could you make a video with it set to L? Really appreciate it. I always enjoy your videos 😊
So it's now officially a slug rifle.
Really wished you would have shot 5 on high power and 5 on low power so we could see the difference. It would have been nice to know how well it works and what to expect from this feature.
We will get there. There is way too much to cover on the avenge-x. We will take our time and get to it all hopefully.

The reg creeping up every time your rifle on idle position. Thats explained the speed going high on the 1st shot. Should check on the reg o ring seal if its still in a good condition

I just picked up a 177 avenger I put a hawk scope on and first shot dead on at30 yards 30 shots down and still dead on I put a Donny fl extension to make it easier to pump I love this thing crosmen premier hollow point did I say I love it
Don't you just love it when that happens. I don't own a pcp in 177 yet. Interesting to see another shot string on the knockout with a little more fps

I removed the reg from my first gen avenger, cleaned, lubed & reinstalled. Creep fixed (maybe 100 psi).
The pellets would have done just as good if they were flying under 900 fps?

Thanks for making nice videos. I always watch your reviews which are too informative. Here is my opinion, from reviews of other reviewers I have seen avenge X with more consistent shots. However, the regulator is not as good as it was supposed to be. But looking at the spread am more confident that the shots should be more consistent with heavier pellets.
Also I would like to see if you could re take this test again with a new regulator installed from airventuri.
I’m sure that if those pellets were traveling under 915 fps, they all would have done much better . Too unstable over that.
please explain why 14.3 crosman pellets cost 6 bucks at walmart and there are 500per tin now crosman makes a 19 gr domes but only 200 in the tin but they are 12.99 thats more expensive than jsb and H&N their a good pellet but not affordable at the rediculous price maybe you can shed some light on why the rediculous price i know it has nothing to do with the avenge x but keep up the great videos and work you do. i hope everything with the condition is working out for you i will keep you in my prayers and on the prayer list at church God is a miracle worker and can heal anything
Sounds like you got one with a bad reg.
That's why I got the new Pocket chrony. It's reads up to 1270 fps.
oh rick it really sounds like you have gotten one with a bad reg it should not be that eradic atleast the 5 i have reged dont do pressures that much different
Crossman 10.5’s worked well in the original avenger .177.

Well, I've been waiting for this, so thank you! But, having watched some tests by other folks(but using a more substantial bench rest and 22 cal), I was expecting much better groups. Indeed, at 25 yd and below, shooting my unregulated 22 Umarex Origin, and usually get much better groups than that, especially if I stay well below 3000 PSI. (but, you normally have so much more wind than me, don't know about during this test). That is shooting either off of my $28 plastic rest or from a Death Grip tripod. So those results are a bit disappointing. But then that last group. WOW! I guess this is a sho nuff slug gun? As for the mediocre results with most of the pellets, I'm thinking they were simply going at least 100 FPS too fast for optimum accuracy. What do you think? I am usually shooting just below 900 FPS with my Origin, getting great results. But, I'm probably going to try one of these, it just looks too nice!

Dang them Jsb Slugs 13.43 are Lasers 😮
I have the gen 1 and I have the same problem with the regulator, it begins with 2900 psi and after the first shot it drops to 2200 psi and stays there till I refill again.
Thanks for saving me some money. I was going to get this gun as I have the original avenger in both 22 and 25. But after seeing these groups at 25 yds. I won't be buying this. Only shot slugs well. Especially this is only 25 yds
Mine is EXCELLENT 1/2 MOA at 50 yards with Baracuda Match 4.52
And that's why slugs are the best when you find the right ones. That would be my choice for that gun. 13.43 KOs.
