  • How will China respond if the US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visits Taiwan this week, and could Taiwan be the next Ukraine if Xi Jinping decides to invade the country?
    (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Taiwan, on the face of it, appears just like Ukraine. A nation constantly under the threat of a much larger power, with an invasion always at the back of its mind.
Any future conflict would engulf the two great superpowers of this century, the US and China.
In today’s episode of the Fourcast, our International editor Lindsey Hilsum puts the current flare up into context as geopolitics comes to terms with a future where Beijing is King.

After the Ukraine, I have always said, China invading Taiwan - could be the next trigger to WW3.

Declining power? Please China is a paper tiger. Whatever you might think of US it's military has been fighting for 20 years. Operating actual combat missions and logistics. What's interesting about her opinion is she thinks Trump was a belligerent fool with china. He's an idiot for sure. But his foreign policy wasn't personal. China understood that it was transactional. The Taiwan issue is personal and that's a big difference. When she talks about Russia invading Ukraine and China invading Taiwan a being similar it's not. Taiwan has been planning for the day for 50+ years. I can't imagine the missile systems they've got. I bet they have every weapon system Isreal has. They have the advantage of only being invaded over water on one front. There surround by huge mountains and jungle that would make military logistics impossible for china. The estimates for Chinese causalities is over 250,000 just to land and control a beach head.

The USA is very funny, he clearly does double standards for the separatists in Luhansk and Donetsk who want to separate from Russia, they reject it, but for the separatist government in Taiwan, which wants to separate from China, it is supported, which is actually contrary to what he himself said, namely agreeing to the one China policy. When viewed from a geopolitical perspective, China really upholds the wisdom of becoming the strongest new superpower in Asia by taking responsibility for how it plays a role in setting an example for other superpowers such as the USA, whether to use violence immediately, which means military operations or not. other options need to be kept in mind that china is even economically far ahead of russia so if china really wants to invade taiwan it might be very easy for him like russia did to ukraine but china chooses another option which is possible from china's perspective if he declares war now then it is certain that inflation will also soar along with the price of food needs and their derivatives to various countries in the world because I still remember that Russia is very strong in its influence in the energy sector such as natural gas, they have money, so that it makes supply chains in European countries all shout it's the effect of secular countries. As Russia, if it has used its economic power and felt the impact on European countries, which actually need Russia's presence, especially if we compare China's economic influence in the world, it clearly far exceeds Russia's, because maybe in seconds China will decide whether this should be with the option of military aggression against Russia. Taiwan, do you see the impact after using this option, I think President Xi Jinping has received a lot of input from his advisers to be more concerned with the global impact that will arise if China conducts military aggression against Taiwan now? For me it is not surprising for Pelosi to insist on a provocative visit to Taiwan because the whole world already knows America's character, namely "WHERE THERE IS WAR THERE IS AMERICA" because it is a fact that almost 60% of America's GDP is donated from their arms sales sector, that's why America will quite happy if there are other clown countries like Ukraine to want to be sacrificed as America's battlefield even though in the Ukraine war it is clear that America's role does not match the reality, America only looks firm at the beginning but when the war broke out from Russia America's actions were only limited to sending weapons, this is very funny because I actually feel sorry for the people of Ukraine because of their president comedy policy to enter Nato which was provoked by America they are now a country that will disappear from the map I hope Taiwan does not follow in the footsteps of a clown country like Ukraine.

what the Americans should be doing is mirroring Taiwan industry in a new city state in America called new Taiwan.. and then when the time comes... give them US citizenship and semi autonomy within that territory... whilst at the same time drawing a tough line by strengthening other nato members militaries and making nuclear deterrent available... to include Japan and Australia additionally. As for Taiwan... its just a matter of time... it cannot be defended forever ; its too close to china. Promise Taiwan citizens a safe democratic zone with internal self-governance in the US... move the business/skills... if necessary let China have Taiwan... but form a strong defensive line in the pacific with Japan, SK, Australia. Or do nothing... end up losing all Taiwan business to china... end up with a big war in the pacific.. the other option is to cut off china economically... and cripple its economy so it cannot win an arms race.. which will also badly hurt the west ; but in the absence of that action, then its a given that Chinese naval assets will just grow until they can more than contest that region close to their own country .... against US/western forces... so really.. this is delaying the inevitable .... the west decided to invest heavily in a militaristic territorially expansive dictatorship... so this is the result..
