What about the excell sheet you use to calculate the duration and frames it equals? It would be really helpful if you could put a link for it
@@ariella2658 I paused and made myself one in google sheets
You and Alan Becker have been such an inspiration to me I hope you keep going with your animation projects
To me it’s been him and Toniko Pantoja great animator. He has inspired me so much too
Just put a little tree over here, and it'll be our secret
so rare to see something going through the nitty gritty organization part of animation. love organizing everything and the beautiful feeling of knowing where anything is at any time when you're done!
great vid
I literally animating rn. thanks for the amazing content. You're the #1 go-to help in my animating process. Keep it up!
Honestly he is the best, he has inspired me in so many ways I can’t believe I’ve thought of giving up so much but he always keeps me going
Me too, the animation that I am planning is 3 min or 12 mins animation, they will expect to release in 2023 or 2024. And the problem is..... how to get pass copyright?
I'm working on a big animation rn and this is clutch, especially for organizing and file safety measures. Already lost a huge chunk of work to hard drive theft 💀
Animation is the hardest work in the Art industry.
I'm an aspiring Comicbook artist, and I know that animation is insanely harder than Comics, cause you can draw roughly 120 panels on a 20 page comic, but 120 frames in a 24 frame animation only makes 5 seconds of footage. I'd love to make My own short film with one of My OC's but yeah, I know I have a lot of work ahead of Me to complete that goal. Thanks for the videos you make for us aspiring Animaters and Artists
Amazing! Not there yet at all, but knowing where to go when the time comes is priceless! Thank you for the amazing content!
It´s interesting to see someone else´s production pipeline. We run into the same problems like how to divide the workload and how to organise the files, but come to different solutions. I find it difficult to invent a complete story beforehand, planning everything down to the number of frames for each shot. Since animating takes to much time, I get lots of new ideas during the process and change it anyway. Especially when you stick with one project for a long time, it can become frustrating to just work off a list of shots. I find it important to keep spontaneity and diversity in the tasks throughout the whole production.
I want to try your method in a future project. I think it is a very brave approach and can lead to all sorts of fun anomalies that can enrichen the story.
Also, I am starting to find animating this project a bit dull, because there will be very few surprises in the production for the next few months. I will grit my teeth and get through it. But.. who says the animation process has to be so predictable and reliable if it is an independent project and not a commission? I do wonder what kind of things I would encounter if I improvised the story on the fly. in Studio Ghibli they start production long before the storyboard has been finalized. It has its risks but that can be part of the fun.
I have a project idea I want to explore after this one. I have made drawings and designs for it, but haven't created a fully fleshed storyboard or animatic for it. when this project is wrapped up I think I'll just wonder into the animation process and see what happens...
@@HowardWimshurst Hi can you make video about how to export animation from clip studio paint or any software and then what will you do next to make them into a short film to upload on CZcams? What editing software you use and what ratio you choose so the short film looks good on CZcams? I don't know why I exported animation with ratio 1920×1080 from csp and imported it into after effects with same composition ratio but when I uploaded it on CZcams, it still has black bar and looks like stretched out?
Interesting, I actually never thought of putting multiple shots in one animation file. I always do one shot, one file and if there are too many shots I categorize them into scenes.
This is literally why you are the Best in my opinion... Planning is everything ☝💪
This video is exactly what I needed to watch. Thanks so much for this! 🙏
Agreed on sketching phase as fellow animator, because it's easier to get animation quality of performance right in scetch phase than in rendering phase.
This has made my work flow more organized and helps me to focus in one one part at a time. Thank you for this lesson.
I usually do short animations but it was interesting to listen about it all. Thanks:)
This is really helpful for being really effective in the production process. Thankyou Howard. Lots of value here
As a owner of TVPaint Pro edition- I have zero idea these tools (especially the shot cut and camera stuff) even existed. I dont know if you cover more advanced tools for TVPaint in Mastering Motion, but that would be something pretty cool to get a walkthrough similarly to the fundamental one for TVPaint in the Getting Started Course, If that doesnt already exist yet since I haven't started Mastering Motion yet.
Yesss I have been wanting to do a full chapter just on the advanced things hidden within TVPaint, but I have not done it properly yet. Most of the TVPaint lessons in Mastering Motion right now are specifically with the objective of animating the exercises.
This is inspiring , I do don't have access to those advance software but I will try to start something with what I have. Thanks for the Support via your content.
don't know how your timing is so synergetic with my workflow but I'm not complaining!!
was waiting for this
Love these tutorial/ Advice style videos💯👌
This taught me organizational skills I didn’t realize I need ❤
This was extremely helpful for me, please keep it up! Good shit!
Just when I needed it the most
Thank you for making me aware of how essential organization is! I'm using Blender but I hope I can figure out how to use your organizational tips in that program. I have to re-do a lot of my storyboards but I wonder if I could just number shots/cuts in the animatic instead to save time since I'm kinda stressed, and I already spent a year on storyboards, so I kinda don't want to start over on that step to save my sanity--would that give you the same organizational result?? Anyway, thanks for the amazing tips!
Thanks I have been trying to figure out how to organize my animation process.
I just got fired up! Thank you sir, you have always been helpful to me
The excel sheet part of the video ***really*** confused me until I realized that you made an xsheet in excel XDDDD
I'm creating my animated films and learning a lot from you my friend ❤👊
A program to help with your file coruption and loosing progress is "git". Just use git and make it a habit to commit and push every hour. Will save your live. I promise. Saved almost every project of mine.
I’m actually making a big animation right now lol thanks Howard 👍🏾
thank you Howard, this really help my animation production but the real problem is the stories for my animation are complicated and has too much potential plot twist, I can't decide which one i should use :'D
I don’t know if this would help much but I recommend doing a pros and cons list of the plot twist. Or just screw all of that and go for the one you feel is better. For me I’ve gone through so many problems but I haven’t give up yet. My main challenges was I’m drawing cages, it’s gonna be night, and I’m painting the backgrounds
@@tamuanimations
Thank you Tam! I did what you recommend now, I choose 2 best story plot and combine both into one story. The result was better than all of plot twist i made, and painting background is also a problem for me too especially it's lightning.
Oh I try to finally make longer Cartoon films on my channel and it was not easy to get done at all like i draw my same characters in different positions over and over again to make them move freely, saving backgrounds for each scene add sounds and more crazy stuff it's fun to make films By animation but always got to get done with the boring stuff before finally editing my animations for films definitely animate in a old school classic way i used JS Paint/late 90s & early 2000s Classic Ms Paint, Ms Paint and other paint apps that looks amateur to draw to make my Animations 📽️✍️🎬👨🏽💻🖥️🎨
I normally just do comics instead of animation since I find very time consuming, I do have animation projects I'm working on, based on the comic ,but I still dont get motivated enough to finish it, hopefully this vid will help me
Twin, you didn't finish your sentence, anyways he found it really helpful, thank you Howard
I want to make an animation now but can't decide between different stories 😂😭 😀
Oh boy I know the struggle 😭
@@HowardWimshurst yes the struggle is real
Willmost of these work on Krita?
But,thank you so much,as long as I am a subscriber on your channel, you helped me built some courage to start projects and show people some of the stuff I do
yes, most should work on Krita with a few workarounds and changes to keyboard shortcuts
Omg I was thinking abut you😍☺🤗
I do wonder though but do this can be also apply for FlipaClip since it’s a mobile version and also it lack a lot of tool but idk if it able on it?
Can you do some animation analysis on deadcells animated trailers?, I just really wanna know how they animated every trailer of deadcells
where can I see the sheet? the default one
Creating Kratos animation thanks
question,do you make the script before the storyboard?
My films typically have little or no dialogue in them, so I normally make more of a bullet point list of events in writing and then storyboard
@@HowardWimshurst thanks 😊
Hi, i missed the deadline last week to register for the 2023 contest and i'm about to start boarding a short -- is it too late to apply? I only just found out about it and I'd love to be a part of it
I've just hear of it as well and it makes me sad :,, I would've loved to participate...

Which software do you use for animation
Sorry I just got it's

From what I can tell, that spreadsheet must be really harsh work. Fells like you've eventually lost your mind, cause them description were becoming crazier and crazier
Hahaha 😂 big animation project is not for the feint of heart I guess. I just like to have fun in my work and I don't deny myself the small laughs
