- In my current animated storytime there are a couple of shots that need camera moves! Here I go over how I use the camera tool in TVPaint (my main animation software). Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for this! I just got TVPaint and I'm trying to learn how to use it, but your videos have helped me a lot. You're such an underrated artist, keep going
Thank you! I’m hoping to do a full TVPaint walkthrough soon so let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to include!
thank you so much for this tutorial!
Glad it was helpful!
Another great one. Thank you.

Love 😍
Like lightning ⚡️ ❤️
Thank you
No problem! Glad it helped!
Hii! I'm struggling a little with having the camera follow a character! I've made 3 point for the camera to follow, but I think I'm struggling most on the Camera Time/Position window. Any advice?
(Sorry if this sounds kind of vague. I'm just not sure what other way to word it😅
You're an amazing artist though, love your work!!🌌
It's a tough one to explain but if you want it to start at a certain point that's not the actual beginning of the shot you'd have to adjust the graph. if the character stops, getting the camera to stay still and not immediately move onto the next point is... difficult :') if you have discord I can explain in there - I'll be able to post screenshots too - but no pressure!
Hello KDSketch. Sorry for the question but i was wondering, do you set the canvas to a canvas with camera and then work from there, or would you suggest I animate it first in my desired canvas size, and then make a separate project with camera, import my animation and layers, and then work on the camera movements? I'm struggling on how to start hahaha
No problem!! So you can add a camera to any existing project - I usually work at 3840 x 2160 so I can resize as I like. If you make a new project you can use the multiplane camera to comp things -- I did it this way in this project czcams.com/video/bDlCBcXWPJc/video.html let me know if you have any other questions :)
Hey KD. I have a question. How do you change the foreground color in tv paint so that when i create an mp4 file. It doesn't come out black.
when you're exporting the animation you want to make sure 'background' is ticked otherwise the file will be transparent/have a black background! Hope this helps :)
Thank u
No problem! :)
I like Ur tutorial s
Hi KD, I only have TV Paint Standard, what do you recommend for camera transitions?
An editing program would be ok! Sometimes I use davinci resolve - they also have blending modes if you want to add a texture too!
@@kdsketch Thank you so much for your quick reply! Love your videos x
So let's say I want to have the camera move from point A to point B in one scene, then start from a completely different area for the next. I'm having trouble setting a new Point A cuz the next shot starts where point B ended in the last scene. What should I do? Do I HAVE to start an entirely new project for each camera cut?
You can right click on the points on the camera and copy and paste them in new shots (saying this without currently being able to check!) and you should be able to adjust from there? I’m assuming you’ve got each set up in their own shot in the storyboard panel of TVPaint?
OMG!!!! I'm such a noob. You helped me figure it out, I NEVER used the project tab!!! DOY!
I never understood it's function! I've been making my entire project in one "scene." No wonder I couldnt add a new camera LOL
Thank you so much... I appreciate your quick response!! This video's been very helpful as well.
I feel like I learn something new about TVPaint every time I make something! Hope the new way of splitting the shots helps!! ✨🙌✨
hello😀 I want to zoom in on only the BG, but is that not possible?
You can move the start and end points of the camera to wherever you want them to go. If you have characters in front and don’t want them to move it might be better to export the shot with the camera move and background only and then add the still character on top later. I hope this helps?
i cant figure out what if i want more than 2 points, not just a start and a finish but go to point b and then to point c
Tap on the line between the two points to create a third camera guide and then position them normally :)
Kate we are too poor for TvPaint((
It's all good! I'm just working through some video requests from ages ago - there'll be more free animation software tutorials and general animation tutorials soon :D
The camera tool is only available for professional versions and I have the student version. 😭
though not as quick as the camera tool itself - you should have access to the multiplane camera tool in the fx stack in the standard version :)
