Literary journal Five Dials are marking International Women’s Day 2018 with The Female Gaze, a special issue voiced exclusively by women, femmes and gender non-conforming people. We approached some of the (countless) femme and gender non-conforming people who inspire us - artists and writers whose work is consistently daring, resonant and essential - with a very simple brief. Two pages, to consider the female gaze, however you choose.
Join contributors Deborah Levy, Sophie Mackintosh, Bridget Minamore, and more to launch this radical and essential work on International Women’s Day at The Like A Woman Bookshop, a pop up shop from Penguin stocked only with writing by women.
We hope it will be a gateway drug for you to discover to the wider bodies of work being made by these brilliant bodies and minds, and those of their sisters. Because the female gaze has always been with us and it is always evolving. Take a look at the world through these eyes. See what we see.
