    June Bolan seemed like a wonderful, warm lady. Lots of stories to tell... It's kind of a shame she never wrote a memoir.

    I'd loved to go back too, i miss that era of music. I too miss going into music stores (i pretty much lived in them lol as i'd spend hours in them looking at all the records ), it sucks having to download albums i'd rather go in person and buy that bands albums.

    80's, i'll always be stuck in the 80's music :)

    I'll always be greatful to Marc For introducing music into my life, i wish i was older in the 70's and lived overseas just so that i could see his shows and meet him too, if he was alive today and i met him i'd be in complete awe, i'd say thank you Marc for the music and for bringing together all us t-rexs fans, all us t -rex fans are one big family. :) I just love when music does that we may not be all family through blood but we sure all are through music. :)

    Thanks Marc for the music, without you we wouldn't have the likes of def lepard and many other bands out there like them.
    I wish music was still the same as it was back then these day's can't stand today's music, enough of the lady ga-ga and rap stuff. Bring back Marc Bolan and t -rex and hendrix and all those other talented bands from yesteryear.

    i was too little to see a marc bolan show :( And i don't think he ever came to New Zealand, i just remember seeing him on tv and thinking woooow i want to be like him when i grow up, i even at play centre asked to have glitter on my face just like Marc wore lol, He's a massive influence on me.

  • @satansteddy
    @satansteddy Před 11 lety

    ,..... .it just seems to promote danger and mock it, it's NOT a joke to be put in danger. Music today needs a kick up the butt and all these rappers need too instead educate kids today, NOT promote it, i'm so greatful, i was born in the 70's

  • @satansteddy
    @satansteddy Před 11 lety

    I agree, i'm always thinking what the hell has that got to do with what the song is about?, Weird. i too am old lol, i remember seeing music videos growing up and music shows where everything was family friendly, hardly saw any with sleaze in it, it was rare seeing this and when it was, it was still, done in better taste to what it is nowadays.

  • @satansteddy
    @satansteddy Před 11 lety

    They wonder why they can't defend themselves when faced with danger no wonder, they couldn't be bothered learning when they had the chance too. Or, they just mocked it and thought nah i'm going to be fine in life, no, it's a big wide dangerous world out there. Music today doesn't help

    @russsmiff1 That's a really good point that you make. Just why T-Rex never cracked the US is a mystery. Bolan certainly had the stage presence and charisma. However, I lean towards the notion that the Glam Rock thing never really took off in the US in the same way as it did in the UK. Bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple were blazing a trail, playing their brand of progressive rock which the US youngsters took to in their millions leaving little room for bands such as T-Rex

    i'm too am thankful for the internet 'cos i get too see more marc Bolan and t-rex stuff that i missed seeing growing up, 'cos New Zealand is so far behind everything, i only got to see a little bit of marc bolan and t-rex growing up, same goes for many other bands from that era. I agree it peeves me off when some little know-it-all goes ooh blah,blah did that so and so are ripping blah blah off nooo idiot other way around grrrr i HATE that too, i tell them to go read up on their music ....

    i feel a lot more people would just go nuts over Bolan and T-REX if they could only hear more of his stuff, classic rock radio is in a terrible state! even the request hour is clogged with overplayed and tired old ditties.maybe i'm hard to please but you could at least mix it up with a few b-sides and rarities in between! wish i had my own pirate station, then MARC would get his full due.

  • @russsmiff1
    @russsmiff1  Před 15 lety

    Sorry I misunderstood. I thought you meant is the documentary British ! T.Rex were all British until Gloria Jones joined the setup. The band couldn't break America. They had a disastrous tour in the States which didn't help either. Get It On charted quite high (as 'Bang A Gong') but that was all. Marc is better known over in the US these days though.

  • @satansteddy
    @satansteddy Před 11 lety +1

    Nowadays it's all about who scored with who and who murdered who, it's like what the hell?, This ISN'T good for kids what kind of message is this sending out to kids these days?, At least when the likes of you and i and all us here we were lucky and grew up on marc bolan and t -rex and all those other legends, their music actually meant something to us all, and music back then helped us to express ourselves in our own way's. it inspired us to be creative too in our own ways too.

  • @AshtonArcher
    @AshtonArcher Před 13 lety

    @matthewmwolff I'm talking about the documentary, not the music. This was made in 1987 by John Bramley who ran the fanclub at the time. Both of the Bramley's documentaries aren't that insightful - this is the better of the two - still not that good though.

    i agree, it's sad 'cos everything is computers, cellphones, ipods, i pads, xbox etc...etc... Where's the imagination gone too?, And morals, everything's thrown out the window. I remember mtv when it was cool, now it's just a load off rubbish. Kids today are spoilt too, and disrespectful. They walk around in zombie states. Come on, wake up go outside and play, go put on your parents records and listen to their music the REAL music.....

  • @satansteddy
    @satansteddy Před 11 lety

    and leave those TRUE musicains out there hard work the hell alone. I'm always like NOOOOOOOOO, leave the classics the hell alone everytime i hear some little brat ruin a classic song i grew up listening too, i just want too punch them in the mouth just to shut them up. I just now stuck to listening too songs from yesteryear and the very few bands from today who DO still have soul and talent. I'm fed up with all those bands out there who mix metal with rap that's NOT music that just crap.

    leave metal the hell alone. it peeves me off how everything i grew up on is getting destroyed from these talentless jerks it's like noooo leave music the way it used to be, throw all those little one hit wonders on an island far, far, far away and all their fans too, and leave all us TRUE music fans and TRUE bands the hell alone to carry on enjoying the music we all grew up listening too. Which is that off TRUE talent and soul.

  • @satansteddy
    @satansteddy Před 11 lety

    to continue from my last reply i didn't get to add this last bit sorry...... Music vidoes were family friendly back in the early day's, nowadays kids are over exposed to sex, drugs, and murder. Due to those uneducated rappers and those loose females out there such as britney spears and those idiots. Kids deserve to have a childhood but they are pretty much born adults nowadays which is sad, at least all of us here got to have childhoods, 'cos we had proper role models to look up too.

    I agree, and nope, i can't stand today's so called music, it's meaningless. I can't stand the likes of lady ga-ga, and all those disgusting rappers, it's no thanks to them, for taking away the joy and passion in music, and those stupid shows likes off american idol etc, they are just one day wonders. Thank hell for bands such as: the rolling stones, iron maiden, black sabbath, david bowie etc....etc.... They at least keep the soul and passion going in music.
