Chelios was cut from 2 Junior Teams, and a University team before the NHL & the Hockey Hall of Fame!

Chris Chelios, a 26 year NHL LEGEND who is a 3 time Stanley Cup Champion and 3 time Norris Trophy Winner joins us this week! Chelios was a second round draft choice in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadians and was runner up for the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s top rookie, and won the first of his three Stanley Cups with the Habs the following season. After a block buster trade to his hometown Chicago Blackhawks, he became the face of the franchise over nine years, became team Captain and is still the franchise record holder for career penalty minutes. He went on to win 2 more Stanley Cups with the Detroit Red Wings and was one of Team USA’s most reliable players and leaders in multiple Olympic and other international Tournaments - A three-time Norris Trophy winner as the NHL’s Best defensemen, Chelios holds the record for most career playoff games played with 266, and is tied with Gordie Howe for most NHL seasons played with 26. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013, the International Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018, and recently had his Jersey retired on February 25th by the Blackhawks.
