small pox was NOT USED by the europeans, it was brought to the new world unintentionally, and the europeans even in soem accounts took care of surviving natives they found when they moved into the empty regions. europeans at the time had no real understanding how smallpox worked.

Yeah but chimera and hybrid aren't the same thing however given that their creations differ extensively from one to another
Perhaps the scariest thing about the Hybrids is how ultimately disposable they are. They can fight, maim, and kill humans in great numbers until their cooling units eventually fail and then they die off so the "pure" Chimera don't have to worry about their upkeep when an invasion is done.
Loved the Resistance series. Especially R2, my favorite of the trilogy. To this day I still miss the multiplayer (Co-Op).
Resistance 2 had a great ending but the gameplay and charchters where lacking

@@sgshulte7283 Really? The gameplay was extremely satisfying to me. Namely the guns. Each and every one had a mechanic that was fun and unique and some still have yet to be rivaled many years later in other shooters. Case in point, and arguably my favorite, The Bullseye. From it's pleasing design, to it unique tag mechanic, to even the small details of the needles pointing to an active Bullseye tag, that was an awesome gun and one of my favorites in all of gaming. Especially the secret second ability it had: The Bullseye Trap. Story was fine to me except how the writers sealed Hale's fate for him. The other Sentinels were still plenty combat effective (Capelli being an excellent example since he survived several instances where he could have died), there was no reason for Hale to do what he did, he fought like he was the only Sentinel left and hardly anyone tried to stop him. It felt painfully forced. That aside, I was OK with the story but as I said, what hooked me was the unique guns.

Those claws or nails on there feet were probably used for killing in fighting in the early years when the chimerian Virus was mostly isolated to the area around the Tunguska meteorite inpact zone. Those early Chimerian strains were probably very animalistic and primative, just because of the fact that they didn't have the advance tech they had in the 1950's.
Also to add they probably planned to drop the meteorite in Serbia because it, 1: it was cold enough for early chimerian strains to survive in with out there cooling apparatus and 2: while also having the best Human to cold environment ratio.

a very underrated game; the second one had so much stunning moments, i loved the great story and i sometimes come back to fall of men because the atmosphere is just fantastic, the underground levels had me at the edge of my seat.

You got to remember that the term Chimera is used to describe some kind of hybrid like the Chimera of greek myth (head, torso and upper legs of a lion, lower body and wings of a eagle and a tail that consists of a snake), maybe the Chimera are no longer a single species but a Condition, e.g. through the use of the virus they gather new soldiers but essentially are no longer made up of their own species but a coalition of species that have succumbed to “Chimera-isation”.
one really important detail i think is being overlooked here: nathan hale had been infected by an inactive, pure strain chimeran virus by means of a test before he got infected by dr. fyodor. a key difference with the only other test subject in this project (if i recall right) was that nathan hale didn't know about this untill way after this, while the would be daedalus did. the latter evolving from an active chimera strain, while nathan "build an immunity" by having an inactive virus taking over his system creating a new sort of hybrid (mainly human, not mainly chimera). "the corruption" eventually takking nathan anyway because the genes can't help but add indivduals t the hive at almost all costs.

Theory concerning the clawed toes on the Hybrid: Possible adaptation for greater stability through terrain? Based on their movements, the species seems to run on their toes, so the claws may be there to act as hooks into the ground to keep them from toppling over after a quick burst of movement
Yea most likely,like if a chimera wants to climb a something idk he needs thise claws like in every animal we have in earth to help him through the climbing.
seneral radec That, and I imagine that the species is rather top heavy considering the new mass formed by the head, elongated limbs, and additional weight of the cooling pack.
With all this additional weight with very few modifications made to the foot other then the claws, I’d take a swing at this adaptation is built to help keep the creature stable during fast movements, as well as add a new defense mechanism, seeing as how almost all forms of Chimera are armed, quite literally, to the teeth

Am I the only one who wants a video about the cloven lore and biology in resistance: retribution? Or something like the boilers? Hell, maybe even a more in depth analysis on the conversion centers?
8:30 I don't think individuality comes from the frontal lobe, all it does is process decision making - which Chimera still do a lot of, otherwise they wouldn't be a strategic/militarily competent army - and most importantly: it controls voluntary movements like pulling the trigger. Individuality comes from the limbic system - the part of the brain that actually handles motivation, memory, emotions and learning.
A video on the Grim would be a great follow up! Thank you for the amazing videos! 😁

Thanks for the upload really glad your covering the Resistance series. A bit more detail on the metabolism for any one interested I think in the first game it states the hybrids metabolic rate is roughly twelve times that of a human if I remember correctly again great vid keep up the good work.

Roanoke, would there be a different brain structure for the grims since they're just feral hybrids? You said that the hybrids have a smaller frontier lobe. And I believe (correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't played Resistance series for quite a while now) that is because they're mentally connected to a hive mind. But the grims don't have that connection anymore. And they seem to create hives and reproduce on their own separately from the Chimera military. For example, the Hives in Resistance 3 at that facility after the boat ride with the doctor. Then that one section of town Joe and the doctor find themselves in after Joe falls out of the Vertibird. You find pods that contain these creatures and hatch.
Also, I just thought of this. Since they're free from the Chimera military hive mind. Could the Grims have their own hive mind? Or are they just going off instinct? I enjoyed your video by the way. Haven't been disappointed once by your content.

I know its an odd request but you think you could do a comparison of humans and helghast from killzone, they're technically mutants but it'd be cool to see the reasons for the genetic changes. Great video by the way I wondered about why hale survived for so long I always assumed the transformation was triggered at the factories
The helghast had to evolve to survive helghan's harsh environment. They basically have stronger lungs and muscles.
