Lula Roe is a Waste of Money

  • I try out the plus size offering from Lula Roe and have some disappointing results. In short the brand sells over priced, poorly made goods, that don't fit well to plus size women who may not know any better. Plus, the shopping experience is to say the least, challenging. I would not recommend shopping there and in this video explain all the reasons why.
*** The dress I am wearing and liked is the "Carly" in olive green.

One of the comments everyone who works at Lula Roe has mentioned is how the brand empowers women. Lula Roe customers and consultants have left the following comments (and more) on my video.
    · “Not too busy to eat, though.”
    · “I question your mental capacity”
    · “I'm sorry but I'm a large 22 and the leggings, TC, fit me perfectly. There is no way that she would fit them, nor anything other than a 2x or 3x. You need to learn the true size and be honest with yourself.”
    · “you jumped the gun for someone who portrays to be a expert shopper...plus you might want to focus your energies on getting healthy first and foremost.”
    · “Bad consultants are to blame for your size and lack of insight on the correct size clothing for your body? You are in denial.”
    · “If it's hard to find plus size clothing them don't be plus size”
They’ve chosen to fat shame me, call me a liar and also question my intelligence. They felt my critical assessments of a product justified them in making abusive comments towards me and my character. It's nice to know that to some of the LLR community a shirt is worthy of more respect than a customer with valid issues and concerns. In these cases, Lula Roe is empowering sales, at the cost of women.

I just wanted to highlight this because I was honestly trying to have a discussion about the product and the process for selling that product, however it was turned into a discussion about my intelligence and credibility as a human. I made the video for reasons I stated in the beginning- in the hopes that LLR would improve, because I want more plus options. I have learned over my business career is that if it's not broke usually a company wont fix it. I believe commentary like this has the power to create positive changes in a businesses. I hope women like you succeed, and that the company creates a no tolerance policy for bullying.

Of course they took cheap shots at you instead of acknowledging the product does not live up to the hype. I've honestly continued to buy because I love the Randy tees and I haven't had bad luck with leggings, but I completely agree with everything you said. The sizing is ridiculous. I'm an XXS in Irma, XS classic, Small Randy, Medium Nicole... Like, come on! And if it doesn't fit, you have to pay return shipping and eat the cost of the original shipping. I've met a few very nice consultants locally but I've also seen a lot of horror stories. And people do NOT like when I say that the fabric fades and pills. I know you didn't even get that far with yours, but I follow the washing instructions, don't put in the dryer, and many of my items pilled and faded after one wash. I buy a lot of stuff at Old Navy and it holds up better than this stuff that costs 3-4x as much! I believed the hype too. And Amen to your rant about fugly prints. Sorry people were so rude to you, some of them will do ANYTHING to dodge honest feedback and criticism.

This is the first time watching this video. I actually saw it while I was trying to decide what hangers to buy for my upcoming debut as a LuLaRoe Fashion Consultant. As a customer and consultant I actually agree with you on many of your points. As far as others including LuLaRoe consultants insulting and belittling you, I am so sorry. I also have purchased from a consultant that was as slow as a sloth at doing ANYTHING, a consultant who put a restriction on the Carly that she knew I wanted (she made it so I had to buy the Carly AND another item AND they couldn't be leggings. So I spent $100) THE CARLY CAME TO ME WITH A GIANT HOLE IN THE ARM -- that B1tch! So pissed about that still.... and yes I could have returned it but it was something I fixed by some stitching. .... Anyway, in general consultants who just gave LuLaRoe a bad name. But LuLaRoe as a company didn't grow legs and arms and kick me to the ground. There are crappy consultants in any business (Like It Works! Who I refuse to ever buy from them again). I digress..... There are lots of really odd things as far as groups, purchasing, etc just like you said. Another thing I can't stand is the lighting. You don't REALLY know if the colors are right unless you find a consultant whose actually using a pretty good lighting kit. Yeah, phone screens and pc screens will show different colors too but there are ways to get these colors closer to what they really are. Which is something I strive for whenever I become a consultant in the next month or so. Thank you for the video. It really helped me know what NOT to do. Cheers :)

I have never bought LuLaRoe for myself. My mom had bought me a few things. I told her to not buy me anymore. I made the decision to NEVER buy LLR after finding out they took someone's print/design and DIDN'T REMOVE the person's watermark from the design before making the clothing! Her name is printed on the clothing with her design!!
I only wear them before going to sleep or when I'm cleaning. I'm never worried or care about spilling bleach on the few LLR pieces I have.
Oh and the leggings I do have? The thread has broken on the inseam of all of them. I'm a size 0. It's not like I'm trying to squeeze into leggings too small for my size. They just suck that bad.

The way it works is that you are FORCED to sell whatever is given to you, BLINDLy. The consultants have to pay 5k up front for like 100 pieces. And I've heard only 15-20 percent are any good. And you get stuck with hideous prints, kids/toddlers clothes, etc. You should read the consultant reviews on Glassdoor.

If you pay a restocking fee you are essentially paying for something you already paid for. So you are getting the new items for "free" but really you are out the 15% restocking fee and you can't recuperate that. If you could chose your own patterns and colors that might be ok but if they are sending you unsalable merchandise and then charging you a restocking fee that isn't really fair on your part.

Once I started finding the PLETHORA of negative info, I was OBSESSED with finding anything and everything about the company because I could not understand how they were even a company. Not only that but a lot of the consultants won't admit that it's a pyrmid scheme. I tried to show the consultant I was working for an unending amount of evidence contrary to what she thought and she still wouldn't believe. I knew then that the koolaid was real. It's so sad. I would say that I feel bad for the consultants but they should have done their homework. It was facinating to see how ignorant most of the consultants were. How forgiving the clothes are and that I know how it will fit (for the most part) is very helpful. Not having to haul my two kids to the mall is a huge plus. It's clearly not for everyone, but there are lots of us that really like it. I know that may sound crazy, but I'm in a sewing group on FB (website is www.patternsforpirates.com) and they have patterns for pretty much every style that LLR sells. UGH. Just. Stop. I always leave these groups but they come back and back as more people start them. Unfortunately, I can't get away from Plexus completely because it's a family member on FB :(. I am 5'6", 200 lbs., dress size 18-20, bigger on the top than the bottom - overall, weirdly shaped and uncomfortable about it. Until this past year, I had never found a store that had clothes that fit me and looked decent. Everything was always too little or too big, and so I lived in basketball shorts and Tshirts at home, and learned to be OK with always being frumpy at work (until I could get home and throw on my shorts and Tshirt). Then I found LulaRoe. A friend who knew my struggles recommended it to me and I fell in love (as a customer - I want to note that I am definitely not a consultant). I bought a pair of leggings and eventually a dress. Within a year I have hosted two parties and yes, spent too much money, and now own upwards of 30 pieces in 10 or so styles. I have finally learned to love clothing and to be OK with how I look. It's comfortable, and for the first time I feel like I can look nice and not have to hide.
I'm sorry this has not been your experience. It is also disheartening that so many other ladies are having the same negative experience as you. My good experience certainly doesn't discredit your negative one, but I did want to share mine here as well.
You do make several points I agree with:
-Some of the patterns aren't fantastic. Even some that I have purchased aren't my favorite, but surprisingly they look better on.
-Some of the sizing is, indeed inconsistent. I have three medium Irma shirts and only one is long enough in the front to cover my crotch properly if I'm wearing leggings as pants. I also have two pairs of leggings (out of 7 or 8 total) that seem to be cut larger than the others, but they all look and feel great.
I know that I should expect more from a company, but the fact is, my experience has consistently been more positive than negative, which is not true about any other clothing brand or store for me.
    A few final thoughts-
First, have never purchased an item with damage, but I have heard of people who have. The consultants who sold you those items should be ashamed. They take those out of the package to photograph them, and if they saw they were flawed, they shouldn't have sold them to you in the first place.
Second, the prices you mentioned are not consistent with any of the groups I belong to or have bought from. Again, that may have been a consultant error, or you're including shipping. The Carly you're wearing should have only been $55 and the leggings are $25.
Lastly, the shopping method is definitely unorthodox, but the other issues you mentioned (quality, invoicing, albums staying up when shopping is closed) can easily be avoided by not buying from random consultants, especially not ones starting out. I only buy from people I know, and a few of the original consultants like Danielle and Tiffany. They have been doing this for awhile and have a huge buyer bases because they have good business practices. Anyone else is risky in my mind.
Anyway, I hope you read this super long comment/novel. I'm not out to change your mind, I just wanted to share a different, non-consultant view.
If you do read it, perhaps drop a suggestion for another store or brand that you do like that I should try. Don't say Torrid though, already did that, doesn't work for me.
    Thanks!
