- The Colorado Rockies are stuck in a bad spot. In a division they've never won in their 30 year history and it's not getting any easier. The Dodgers have Shohei and others with an endless payroll, the Diamondbacks just won the NL and have a young team only getting better, and the Padres have major star power themselves.
So it's time to try something completely new to try and overcome these odds: A Draft Only Rebuild.
A staple of the channel, the Draft Only Rebuild challenges us to build the team up using only the Rookie and Rule 5 drafts after we tear down the ENTIRE 40 man roster after the first season.
One major twist added for this year: Trades. I am allowing 3 trades in this series, but only for prospects, and only for one prospect per trade. So we will need to time them right and make sure they hit to ensure we don't waste them.

I would say to add a Fastball as a pitch for him and just have that be a 93-94 MPH pitch. In Pitching just adjust its velocity rating for the one pitch I think giving him a 5th pitch is more realistic. With the MLB training staff helping him out he mastered a normal fastball.
I think adding a fifth pitch at some point would be nice, but I don't think it'd be best utilized on another fastball. I'd rather just say from 17 to 18 he learned to throw harder, which isn't outside the norm.
@@fiendfranchise I do get what you mean . I still would think he would know how to throw one. Everyone can throw a four seam fastball. I get it not being best utilized on a fastball.

Honestly if Omar Figueroa wins silver sluggers or goes to the ASG, he should get like +2 to POT each time. Cause it would be unrealistic for a guy who is actively making all-stars and winning awards to suddenly leave the league.
Yeah if he's showing out in a major way we will have to make sure he doesn't regress.

I know it probably doesnt matter too much, but I think you should make him a bit taller too, The Show always makes the drafted pitchers so small and its just unrealistic
Yeah there are way too many small pitchers in the draft for sure. I'll think about making him taller, shouldn't be too big of an impact.

I actually changed it to 2 for the thumbnail (he had something ugly like 48 or something haha) but I really like 2 as an option.

Just discovered ya from the scouting video you made. Love the content. I would say velocity of the 2 way pitcher would be good at 94 mph for his fastball. Another thing, if you may consider it, is have Blanco the pitcher you drafted as well be turned to a reliever. His rating will go down but that’ll just give him more room to grow overall.
We could certainly turn Blanco into a reliever at some point. For the short term, I like his MLB readiness to be added to the starting rotation, but turning him into a reliever later could be really good.
I simulated and generated draft classes for 3+ hours before I found a generational 2-way player. His secondary positions were 2nd/3rd/SS. He’s a big South Korean guy named Tom that looks very similar to Shohei. Didn’t even realize that was a thing until this video.

He's not a strikeout pitcher, so I think it's okay that he doesn't throw hard. If he had a huge arm strength like a corner outfielder, then I'd say you should bring the velo up, but he's definitely a 1B.
I’d be fine with it too, but I’ve had requests to increase velocity since before I even drafted him, so I put it to a vote.
Excellent class! I cant wait to see these hitters play at Coors. I'd bump Dorsey's velo to the mid-90s. Herrera's going to be a stud RF too. Btw, that SP (Boyle) in my STL franchise ended up 1-1 in his rankings. That draft is Thursday morning.
Yeah this draft class should be very good very soon, 3 players in the 70s is about as good as it gets. Unlikely I’ll make the draft but I’ll try, hope he falls to you that would be great.
Velo is based off whatever pitch has the highest velocity rating of the pitch so a 99 KN and a 0 FB will still read 99 Velo on the player card
Yep this I know. His 2 seam might be the one with the fastest velocity tbh but I’m not sure.

Dorsey’s also just 18. So it seems fair to slowly increase his velocity and height as he goes through the minors
Yeah we could do it that way too I’d just prefer to edit it once and be done. But the fact he’s so young is why I’m willing to edit him, because of how often you get bigger and stronger at that age in real life.

I don't mind them either, but I wanted to put it in a vote to see what the people wanted. Unfortunately it's a lot harder to change the mph on a changeup than it is a fastball.

Good content. I like 11 for Dorsey. As for changing pitch speed/attributes, would you change if Dorsey was drafted by another team? Personally I’d like to see the storyline for a stud hitter that may not develop the same on pitching side. See how you fit him in as a back end starter or maybe convert to RP/CP.
I’m not sure if I’d change it if he was drafted by another team, that never really crossed my mind as we had the #1 pick. Honestly I don’t think velocity really would change my mind as to how good a pitcher he is, I think he’s going to be a starter either way, but there have been requests to increase velocity since we found him, so I put it to a vote.

I drafted a guy that was 100% scouted and had scouted potential of 94-99 but after signing him, it was revealed his actual potential is a 70. How does that work?
There are 3 possibilities.
1. You scouted him with a bad scout and the scout did a bad job evaluating (I’m assuming this one isn’t the case)
2. He was injured. Drafting injured players has a chance to impact their overall and potential.
3. The Show likes to occasionally have “bust” players that will just be worse than they’re scouted no matter how good your scout is. They are rare but they are in the game.
Have him be a unique pitcher like knuckle baller etc
I think you should put his velocity up he should throw gas and you should put up his arm power and accuracy

Curious if anyone has ever seenva yesr 1 two way player or generational 2 way? I really wanna find one but im assuming they dpnt put them in year 2025 draft on purpose no?
As far as I know the first year draft is just as random as the other years. But I’ve done over 100 classes in the game and Dorsey is the first 2 way generational and I’ve only seen a few other 2 ways so it’s a rare build.
Have you ever seen a player who only had maybe C potential when drafted that turned out to be stars? I'm sure you've had busts.

In franchise mode it’s 99. In diamond dynasty I think it’s higher but I don’t play it so I can’t say for sure.
