    Passenger cv axle can be difficult to remove. The cv axle came apart where the cv axle joint is closer to the transfer case. I locked a chain with two vice grips at the cv axle transfer case connection closest to the transfer case then pulled with a big 5lbs hammer. Every pull hammering out the connection to the transfer case with the center rod bearings (what cv boots protect) missing or removed. The driver is also complicated because instead of pulling out the cv connection closest to the transfer case you insisted have to remove 6 10mm bolts to detach the cv axle from the transfer case. You can’t fit a regular wrench, ratchet, or swivel adapter on the 10mm bolts. You will have to get creative. I used a Socket And Ratchet Wrench Adapter on the driver front cv axle 10mm bolts. I turned the adapter with a wrench.

      the type of bolt is a spline bolt. You need a 12 pt spline socket or wrench

      Of course you can fit a socket wrench on it. REMOVE THE BOOT.

    The axle is running though the shock mount and the cv end will not fit though the mount.
    How did you over come that ?

    I have a 2006 Infiniti M35X. When I look at the end of the CV shaft that goes to the transmission there are six 10 mm bolts on the end of the CV shaft. Also when I looked up ordering a new CV shaft from Rock Auto the end of the CV shaft that goes to the transmission transfer case there is no grooved spindle-like on the end that goes into the bearing at the front. That end that goes toward the transfer case is flat and bolts on. So I am a bit confused by your instructions to just pry out the CV joint from the transfer case. All the other cars I have you can do as you are saying. Are you sure that you can just pry out the CV axle from the transfer case? Is the vehicle you are working on an AWD or rear-wheel drive?

    Hey thanks. What were your symptoms and where did you find the axle? Really hard to find for the front drivers side. That's the one you're doing, right?

      Lithobreaker F. First symptom is the rubber boot behind the wheel was torn. The second symptom was this horrible sound due to the loose of grease. Once that boot is torn, the grease comes out.
      I found the axle on Infinitipartsonline.com

      Thanks but looking more at my car now I think you were doing the passenger side. Mine is torn on drivers side and looks different where it enters housing.

      Lithobreaker F. Yes it is the passenger side on the all wheel drive model. But it's the same on both sides

      F.Y.I. to anybody reading this for help. The DRIVERS side is bolt on. (6) 10mm bolts in 3 pairs connects the CV axle to the shaft going into the differential. I used a 1/4" ratchet and short 10mm socket to loosen them to the point where I could remove them by hand or used a box end wrench. The inner CV does not fit through the fork in the drivers side strut mount. You have to remove large bolt holding them together, have the steering wheel turned fully to the right and then push down on the rotor/control arm and push the axle shaft through that space in the fork. Don't overstretch and snap the flexible brake line. Then it will be out. These instructions are for after you have already removed the outer splines from the bearing hub on outer cv axle. I ordered 2 aftermarket, both of which had problems. So I ended up just ordering a new boot and put it on the original since the inner CV boot was torn at the end, but was without symptoms and still had a large amount of grease surrounding it. Cleaned it up, removed it off the shaft, put new boot on, put tripod back on and new grease. All went well and works great. Glad I got to stick with OEM CV axle.

    Hey can you help me I’m having a hard time with my 2008 G 35X put in the CV axle back in is very hard to get it all the way in the transfer case

    • @fullysuited
      @fullysuited  Před 4 lety

      Did you take everything apart like I did?
      If yes, well...you are going to have to try different angles and approaches. The axle doesnt just slide in.

      Try spraying some PB Blaster around the CV. Could be a rust issue.
