I honestly thought it was in game currency I was gaining somehow. They only did that thing with the sixaxis instead of dual shock because there was a pending lawsuit against Sony about rumble feature. I think you have that game install thing mixed up there, it didn't take ages to install a game on ps3, you put in the disc, you might have to update, might not then play in like 5 minutes. I love how the backwards compatibility game was fight for ny. Love that game. Also ya, so disappointed when b/w compatibility was removed from newer models. I learned that the hard way and it made me so sad at the time.
I am one of those people too Falcon! My Backward Compatible 80GB PS3 got the YLOD while I was playing NBA 2K10 in February 2010 while I was at home recovering from Open Heart Surgery. It sucked, as there was also a PS3 Shortage, and I just wanted to play MAG on my PS3. So I found 1 Best Buy store that had one of the slim models, and I had to drive an hour away to get it. Lost all of my saved data that day. And despite having 6 different Red Ringed Xbox 360;s, I still have my save file from the very first Xbox 360 game I played from Need For Speed Most Wanted on launch day 2005, up until the day I stopped playing it. That and a lot of the reasons on this list are why I used the PS3 for Exclusives only.
I remember the PS Store being just for DLC and small games. And being sceptical when a major game was released on it. And checking every Wednesday for new demos. And every Thursday for updates to Home. Gah, I loved Home.
As a side note to the installing thing, who else remembers how guns of the Patriots had to install after every chapter? For about an hour. On every single playthrough.

YLOD and buying a massive fan to attach to the back of the console (which made it hotter as the PS3 had to power the fan). Eventually taking the PS3 apart, replacing the thermal paste and still no dice. Final straw was to strip the PS3 of parts and sell on eBay to help finance the super slim which was said to not have the YLOD issue. It's still going strong in 2020!

Blame the casuals that pay for anything they put on a commercial. I'm skipping ps5 and switching to PC.
You realise they did it so that the thing listed at number 1 doesn’t happen again right?
ZeroDarkForce X they give it out for free then they have to get security funding from else where. They get funded for online use and security features then they immediately have money to put back into it to make it more secure.
@@The_Ranga_Guy it doesn't work like that. They get a cut from all the games other companies sell in their platform also from the console profits itself.
I remember playing a couple of games with 3D glasses, like Uncharted 3. It was actually a very good experience
I remember my friends literally waiting days for their console to update and they all ended up switching to xbox.
My god, I feel old now remembering the '$299' playstation 3 ads when they first aired.
I miss those days (*cough* And playing games online for free *cough*)
I remember how many times i got asked if it was a grill
I never had a mic back then lol
MrSucc I had a shitty Bluetooth mic I got from a phone store😂
The amount of money I spent in PlayStation home is unreal, I didn't even realise I was spending money, I was a kid when it came out and I didn't realise till my mum told me I had spent a ton of money on it.
I dunno what you're on but it's obviously out of date.
really? i installed gran turismo 6 a week ago, and it took like 1,5 hours, plus another hour for downloading and installing updates.
how much did you spend?
@@muki_x as much as I 12 year old can spend without realising it stacks up. My mum tells me it was "around a couple £100" but I reckon it was more than that
My favorite memory of the ps3 days was getting done with a session then finding this video.......Today......

A video that I enjoyed, that has also been released on my birthday.
Thanks.

Remember paying $600 for a 20GB PS3
Nick Gentry-DePhillips Damnnn
Remember paying $600?
I do. I used to work at a fast food place across the street from a blockbuster and went over there on my break and bought one, hooked it up to the little tv in the back and we were playing Resistance between customers lol
@@nickabbott319 I didnt buy it back then I was 8. But my older brother did buy it. The graphics were amazing back then
No, but I remember spending more on the 60GB version lol. Although honestly I don’t remember how much it cost anymore. That $600 is the only number anyone ever mentions anymore so it escapes me.
I dint get a ps3 till early 2013, so i missed all of these things
That must've been terrible
I'm with you man
I got it on 2011 so yeah i too missed on the mayority of those parts.
But i didn't miss gta4's online :D
I got it on 2016.
I got mine right after the PS4 came out
I feel like my PS3 can hold much more games than my PS4
Games were way smaller
I have 86 games on mine including big ones like street fighter and black ops two.
Mine cannot its a 12 gb!
Nevermind i just got a ps4
It could because games were much smaller
damn i didnt know you could grill on a ps3
The PS3 was one of the best parts of my childhood along with my Xbox 360
And BO2
Keahi Bailey What was your favorite map
@@OtakuKing28 mostly I just played zombies transit.
I played MW2 & WaW. Veteran mode in Berlin made me pull my hair out from the grenade spam but I pulled through for the platinum

Am I the only one who enjoyed PlayStation home? 😅
Moose Niga it was fye to me🤷🏽♂️
i loved it
No, we all enjoyed it.
It was lit asf lol
I enjoyed it for the small time it was available.
I loved having the option of buying and playing Madden 10 on PS2 and PS3, and seeing how much more complete the PS2 era MAdden games were!
I miss Kevin Butler.
Does anyone else remember him?
"Staying up late for a trophy that isn't real....but IS"
arbknight12 definitely remember that guy, in fact he was the main reason I bought a PS3 Slim.
Feyad Sahid
Definitely remember him. I loved his Canadian ad.
Number 9 was ONLY YOU. No one else EVER did that.
Gotta stretch the video out
Bruh, idk one person WHO did that
Same never did what he claimed a bunch of people did
Right??
No Way never heard of PlayStation home until now
I actually remember hearing about the hack. Pretty much cemented my worries for putting personal info online.
I remember the PS Store being just for DLC and small games. And being sceptical when a major game was released on it. And checking every Wednesday for new demos. And every Thursday for updates to Home. Gah, I loved Home.

The PS3 just booted up... how the Hell are they playing already... WTF!?
Haha I love how excited they look.
@@vfrank2220 yeah... and their pressing all the triggers like it's a Shooting game or something. 😂
I so loved PSHOME
It was some real cool mini games in
And events where pretty nice , it was a nice
place to be when your bored
Killzone is so underrated it may not be the “Halo killer” but I love it
It wouod be if only they even tried to make a good game
OG’s remember the original boot up screen, and whenever you play a PlayStation 3 game, a jingle will play. God damn I miss it so much
I miss meeting people, now since PS4 has party chat, I never meet people
As a side note to the installing thing, who else remembers how guns of the Patriots had to install after every chapter? For about an hour. On every single playthrough.
solidcake482 the loading screen was badass tho. Snake smoking :)
Lol i still own the copy that made you did that. Wow we had patience back then
That cigarette never ever ran out😂
Kept you waiting huh
A patch was released to allow you to install the whole game fron the disc at once about 45gb size
I’m in the middle of installing the Metal Gear Solid HD collection on the PS3 😂
Timely eh
Darrell Bullard Hope you have fun, probably my favourite game series 👍
the only hd collection worth buying.
the only con of the mgs hd collection
is that they didnt gave us mgs 1 with it.
but on the other side mgs 1 is worth the 5 bucks
I just bought mgs 3 ! 🙌
Should’ve bought the legacy pack,comes with mgs4 and mgs1
This makes me feel old and it made me updated my ps3
@9:10 Interesting controller there... How does it work, WITHOUT START, SELECT, HOME OR CHARGING PORT?
The Intro never gets old.
i remember WARHAWK, and let me tell you, it was amazing...
I miss MAG
@@mackenziegray8946 😢
@@oceanvaldez5983 it's been ages, i don't remember what MAG was, but it rings a bell, like, a small billion bells, i just can't see from what. mind helping me out xD ?
@@daydreamteam1366 it was the first 256 mmo shooter on console that was an exclusive to ps3 and I believe was made by SOE.
I put alot of hrs into that game and met alot of awesome ppl playing it too, I wish I could go back
Holy shit
YLOD and buying a massive fan to attach to the back of the console (which made it hotter as the PS3 had to power the fan). Eventually taking the PS3 apart, replacing the thermal paste and still no dice. Final straw was to strip the PS3 of parts and sell on eBay to help finance the super slim which was said to not have the YLOD issue. It's still going strong in 2020!
I still have my Motorstorm 80gb bundle, but it died 3 or 4 years ago from the YLOD. Repaired it twice and it died thrice. It's still in it's box and I'm still sad about it. I played the hell out of it.

True
can we set up and play/save games without an internet connection on this console. I have no internet.
@gameranx How did you make that floating PS symbol background? I need it in my life!!!!!
The PlayStation 3 had a rocky start, but it’s still the best console I’ve ever had.
InstalloGaming
Of course it had a rocky start, it’s the fact that you chose to accept it and gave it a chance and that’s what people nowadays lack.
They lack giving chances

“Installing a game took FOR-EV-ER!” Yeah... I live in a small village, and buy my games digitally. Trust me, three minutes is a BLESSING to me. It takes me, at the most, DAY to install a game.
Why do you live in a village
@@borisdelatorre4255 cuz he was born there smartass
Are there no game stores nearby or did you just prefer digital?
My god... I remember when I was playing the ps3 and the only way I could play is with disks because the store didn’t work at all
I remember the PSN Network outage. That’s when I really got into Netflix. I had an account for a while, but I still preferred to watch DVDs, but then I really started looking at what Netflix had to offer and I started watching that a lot more.
Then the outage happened and no more Netflix. I was pissed.
That feeling of coming home on a Friday after school to play little big planet two with your friends.
I remember when there was an update that bricked PS3s and to save mine, I didn't update for months
I s9mewhat remember putting off a update too
Are the old models still backwards compatible? Because I still have mine from around 2007.
