Thanks . I cant wait to take it out and try it. I have the Hornady V max and the CCI A17 so will see what happens. Funny thing is that that CCI ammo was made specifically for the Savage A17 but the Hornady VMax is getting far better results. On the cover of this months American Rifleman is the A17 and the article confirmed your findings that the Hornady shot tighter groups. Thanks again for all your videos!
I went to Walmart and the salesman said they had dropped the price to $299. I asked if I could put it on layaway for 30 days and he agreed. When I went back Walmart’s system had put this on liquidation and now it was on sale for $99.. I asked if he had any more, which of course he didn’t. Brought it home and has been in the box since and that was about 2 years ago, I had actually forgot that I had it. Great video now I need to find were you took it for it’s first shooting
Thanks for the reply... great vids, by the way...very informative. Bought a BTVLSS a while back and it's a tack driver. Now that they have a SA do you think they will make a left hand version.. maybe when you are at the range next time you could try shooting it left handed and tell me what you think I look forward to more vids on the A17 Cheers
55vdub They say that 10% of us are left handed. When it comes to firearms you are some what forgotten. Look at the massive popularity of the AR 15. How many company's offer them yet I only know of 2 that do lefty's. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a A17 southpaw. LH shooting vid? Good idea Thanks
went to the local gunstore with full intentions to buy one of these. But when i picked it up and felt it, It looked and felt so generic and cheap, I couldnt bring myself to buy it.
What brand and type of scope rings fit this A17. I cannot find anything in Savage manual. There are the two bases that have 15s printed on them on the rifle. I want to mount my Nikon ProStaff rimfire 3-9x40. Enjoyed the videos
Savage actually did come up with the delayed blowback system. The straight blowback system is the one that has been around for decades.
Delayed blowback autos go back 100 years.
Just checked one out today. Very interesting bolt design. Like it. Was $369.00 Will probably have one someday. Own the 93R and it is very accurate.
Just picked one up thanks for the video!
+1987foxl90 This is the 1st of about a 1/2 doz. or so. It can be a really sweet shooting rifle if you can find the ammo it likes.

Excellent video. I'll wait for a heavy stainless version to come out. Preferably with a thumbhole stock.
Will never happen. Just got the target thumb hole.
Thanks

Chuck M Any Weaver style rings
How well do you think the delay block mechanism will hold up to long term use
55vdub I don't see a problem with it, but time will tell. Thanks
SHOT 200-250 ROUNDS LOVE IT HARD ON AMMO. BUT I HAVE A HEAVY TRIGGER FINGER
I would like for you to make a video on breakdown and proper cleaning of the savage a-17
if your looking to shoot tight groups at the hundred, less than one inch, you got to spend some money, that rifle, never going to do it.
How reliable is it
100% with clean ammo.
