Why I Haven't Gone Back to the Fertility Doctor - 2023 Update | Let's Talk IBD

- As I tend to some plants, I thought I'd share with you why I have paused on trying to conceive. It has been awhile since I talked about it, but it still weighs heavily on my mind daily. It is a struggle wanting children while having a body that isn't in perfect condition to have them. I share a bit about the very short fertility appointment experience I had, and why for right now, we are content on where we are at.

Hi, I'm Maggie and I have Crohn's disease. I am thrilled to be here sharing my personal experiences with Inflammatory Bowel Disease as well as living with an ostomy. I'm proud to share a little bit from a clinical experience as well, having worked as a GI pediatric nurse and ostomy telehealth nurse. I am so glad you are here. ♥ #ostomy #ibd #chronicillness
It's hard. It's allowed to suck. Childless not by choice (me too) is a different kind of heart break.
❤ sending love your way
@@LetsTalkIBD thank-you, same to you.
Me too.
I am single and have 4 adopted daughters. 2 from China and 2 from Liberia west Africa. They could not be more mine, my babies, than if they came out of me. Plus, they are beautiful, runners, great muscles and health, etc. Far better than my genetics. One is a doctor! Anesthesiologist. All serve people with love. There is no difference from having them yourself. Recommend. You and Zac would make great adoptive parents.
I love how you adopted ❤ and you obviously love them dearly
I adopted 2 Vietnamese girls, both highly successful best thing ever, we need more adoptive parents in the world
Thank you. Families come in many forms. 💕 Being childless not by choice due to health issues is tough. Let nature take its course but it never happened for me. For a long time I was very upset, but as I age I have come to terms with it. I have found meaning and joy in creating, living, and being in awe of life itself. I am grateful to be able to focus on things many others can't. It's been an amazing journey, even without children.
You will find your way. You're a survivor and the world needs you as you are and want to be.
Oh and, your plants are awesome 🪴💥
I wish you all the best!
As someone who has IBD (Both Ulcerative Colitis And Chron's- lucky me😂), an ileostomy, and endo I can tell you a few things for how things went for me. My periods were very heavy, but a lot worse after full colectomy. Sex and exams also became a lot more painful.
My husband and I had wanted children too. Like you, we wanted a blended family- biological and adopted kids both. Then when we couldn't have children we were going to adopt. My health just never improved and we made the hard decision to be a childless couple. It has been hard, but still feel blessed to have one another and our fur babies.
God Bless you both!
I have endometriosis and IBS. I am not trying to get pregnant, but I really enjoy watching your videos and relate to so much of what you say, because I have chronic pain and illness. Even though we don't suffer through the same exact things, I feel so connected to you because of your experiences. I'm only halfway through your video but I love you! Cheers from Canada 💜😊
Hi twin same here. Endo sucks
I have Endometriosis & never managed to get pregnant so when I was 35 I had IVF.. & it was successful 1st time.. I recommend you go see another doctor about your fertility they will possibly tell you you only need a few tests.. & not all the ones on your list x
I pray for you guys. You would be outstanding parents. We need those in this world.
I had scar tissue around my tubes, and I had an eptopic pregnancy. They removed scar tissue from my other tube and had my son 4 years later. Don't give up hope. Love your videos
Thanks for the update. Good luck to you and Zak ❤
Regarding the tests you need, ask your doctor for a prescription for Valium (if you can take it), and promise him you won't drive while you're taking it. That should help you tolerate the pain. An alternative would be to ask for light sedation, if your insurance will cover it. Don't be embarrassed . . .because of all the procedures you have had, you have every reason to worry.
Maggie I hope the best for you and your health!! ❤️ Love seeing your plants!!:) I have been propagating my indoor plants. Its fun to see them grow!:)
Oh Maggie! I love this photo of you and Zach!! ❤
Your plants look amazing!
I loved watching this and felt that Spiritually the garden you're truly growing, pruning and blooming is the One inside as well ♥️
Have Zack's sperm count been checked. When I was Married back in 1971 till 1990, there was a fertility problem. it turned out to be low sperm count because of the sulfasalazine I was using to maintain my U/C remission. I stopped taking it and in a few weeks, normal sperm count and motility return and pregnancy happened. The serm count and motility was checked BEFORE as recommended by the fertility doctor before any other tests were to be performed because of the expense and discomfort that have been required.
My mom was a healthy 24 year old and it took her 4 1/2 years to get pregnant. This was many decades ago. My dad had had children from a previous marriage. Anyway, she ended up having 5 babies in 7 years. All c-sections. She was very thin. I’m sure you have heard many stories like this.
I would say don’t give up on your dream to have a baby too soon. You will know when it’s time to try another way to be a mom. Good Luck to you. ❤️
Yeah I agree. My Aunt thought she couldn't have babies then after seven years she had a baby. I just saw a woman on another channel that has the same condition and had her colon removed too have babies so I know it's possible
I love your energy around gardening! 50 plantings last year is a LOT! Knowing nothing about any of these medical issues, i would say focus on feeling good. You and Zach look so happy together. Take a few weekend trips to the beach. It'll all come together. ❤
Wow! Starting watching you after your IBD channel was recommended on YT. Dumb me thought it’s because I was googling irritable bowel symptoms, IBD, chrohn and UC. Well after many yrs of complaining and being told nothing was wrong, I received a diagnosis! After my only child was born in 2006, I wouldn’t stop bleeding for months . I was diagnosed with adenomyosis afterMri. I was told I probably would need a hysterectomy in the future if I start heaving bleeding. I’m now 50, but I have yet to get my period back after my IUD was removed after 15 yrs in. I think it has a lot to do my internal adhesions from my GI issue. I know you want a big family. I wish you all the best Maggie n Zach. If ANYONE deserves children, you guys do! You are couple goals. So much love between you on camera. Whoever ends up with you two as parents, will have the best parents..
Thank You for sharing your story ! I'm currently watching some of Jared and Britt's infertility vlogs and their devastating diagnosis. It turned out that they struggle with male factor infertility - after 3+ years of trying but only focusing on Britt's health and possible conditions. It's good to rule it out if there's an option to do so. I'll keep you in my thoughts, have a beautiful weekend :)
Oh, Maggie! You are doing so much and, are amazing! I traversed the fertility world, hoping to have a sibling for my beautiful, miracle, daughter. But, I learned now that I do have Ehlers Danlos, as well as many other connective tissue problems along with anticardiolipin, which caused multiple miscarriages.
I hope and pray for you, that you are gifted with a child, but that you also keep the wisdom and discernment that you’ve shown in determining just what to put your body through. The pathology that is above, and beyond endometriosis, is one of the most painful known to man. One of my dear friends, who had been told it was all in her head for many years, had a hysterectomy, and it was obvious, upon pathology, that this would have been her problem. I really want to give that physician a piece of my mind. They just don’t know what they don’t now. Take it easy!
Karen ❤
I hate doctors so much when they tell us women that it's all in our heads. Such BS and it's a huge reason I hate going to see any.
I smiled when you talked about starting your tomatoes late because where I live, our last frost date is the end of May, so I’m just thinking of planting my tomato seeds!
Loving your garden news. Xxx
Wow your plants are beautiful. I love gardening but unfortunately mental health stuff has been keeping me away from my garden. Love to you both xx
I always laugh at the "3 tbsp" for periods lol, I've had heavy periods for years now (thanks PCOS!) and I lose so much blood each day I'm on it lol. I hope you and Zak get your miracle baby someday ♥
HI Maggie, Love all the beautiful plants. I can see why they make you happy. Zak is a sweetie. Just a thought...I know that you have talked about the pooling when you have your period. Well if it is pooling when things are coming out, it also will pool when things are going in. So maybe those little swimmers are not making up to your uterus due to your pooling. Maybe it's a matter of manually injecting those swimmers past that pool and into your uterus at the right time so that you know they are making it their destination. I hope that you understand what I am saying. It's just a thought. Praying for you always. Hugs and blessings.
Hi! Fellow plant lover here, and I always love a garden update! I think I saw that you live in PA and I have some fun local seed company recommendations for you. In the Philly/NJ area there are two super cool companies called True Love Seeds and Experimental Farm Network. Both have wonderful missions. More vegetable based than flowers, but they could be something interesting to look into for next season!
I love your beautiful plants!
I have to say very beautiful plants as I can't keep anything alive .I've been trying as I killed a cactus plant last year ...I hope all works out for you and your husband will the family planing as well .Thank you for sharing. Take care.
Maggie, your plants and flowers really took off.
I was more fortunate using grow bags for tomatoes last year..
Only growing what you enjoy and can eat is a good plan.
In regards to the fertility, the cost and emotional hit on our minds is very difficult. What was frustrating is most testing is to rule out and doesn't narrow down the issue.
They can scope your tubes with a tiny camera and actually remove scar tissue if existing..a little twilight helps.
You have had enough on your plate with health between dehydration and sinuses.
Glad you gave yourself some grace to process and improve your health first.
Adoption is great option and ironically sometimes pregnancy lines up.
Look forward to seeing your garden layout..
Crowded with sun or loading flowers and plants around does work.
Take care and thanks
I hope you plant some native perennials in your yard. Bees and butterflies need our help 😊 Your plants are beautiful!
I am! :)
Maggie! You're blessed with a terrific green thumb. You have an infectious smile. I can see why Zak married you, your personality is so attractive and warm. I'm sending 🙏 for your health. Warm wishes to you and Zak.
You have quite the green thumb, young lady! Beautiful plants!
Your plants are looking amazing. To help keep back the weeds in your garden, you may want to consider having someone plow out your garden area. Once that is done, go through and pick up all the clumps of grass and weeds and take them out. Then you can go through and make your mounds to plant in the next year. It makes it so much easier to weed the garden because you have all the bare ground. Hubby has already planted potatoes (make sure you cut up your potatoes and let them sit for a few days before planting), carrots, 12 cabbage plants, beets, radishes (almost ready to pick), and strawberries. And he's started tomatoes and peppers. We are also going to plant zucchini, green beans, yellow squash, okra, corn, and egg plant. We still have one more frost coming next month so we can't plant those just yet.
Zack is awesome. He's so kind and loving. I envy your wonderful life.
Hi Maggie my mom had her 1st baby at 19. The next pregnancy was ectopic and her ovary and fallopian tube were removed and her doctor said she'd have no more babies with only 1 ovary. This was in the early 1940s. 10 years later a baby girl. 2 years later identical twin girls 2 more years later another baby girl. YIKES right? Just wanted to share. Anything is possible.
Hola! The plants look great!
Thank you!!
Sending so much love to you
Ok. I spoke too soon! Lol. Great job on the veggies and herbs!!
Love the way you garden that is how I garden. ❤
I had adenomyosis and it took me 2 years to get diagnosed, so I totally understand the frustration. I wish you the best.
I had to have a hysterectomy due to adeno & severe endo but I fostered, still hurts not having my own
Plants look awesome! I had one of those round led grow lights but had limited results, wasnt sure if florecent was better or not.
Take your time. These tests can be very invasive.❤
Love that hubby popped in….
Has Zak been checked? When we were initially trying to get pregnant, I ended up needing a surgery to fix a sperm mobility issue.
The same question I had.
Sweet hubby as supportive as he is
Sending love, you have been through so much! I also haven't gotten pregnant due to my edenomyosis it's so hard, im sorry you are going through this.
Thanks for this video. Also...how amazing are you with plants!!?? I ones had a cactus and it died 😢 Can you imagine?
You have beautiful plants. 👍🙂
Hi, Maggie. Don't know about adenomyosis, but heavy period by itself is not a problem with getting pregnant. I have very heavy period, first day I change pads or tampons (super ones) every two or three hours, also first day I have cramps in my lower back, exactly as you showed. And my cycle is veeery long, 36 days, sometimes 40 qnd not stable. I have two kids, both times got pregnant very easy, literally after one ovulation. Being young I was sure that I will have problems getting pregnant, dlthey told me I have low progesterone, but it never happened
Beautiful plants
I have edenomyosis too and infertility, I also have crazy heavy periods, I feel for you and I'm so sorry you are going through this
I hope you will be able to show your garden space outside? That would be great!
We lived in NH and my spouse worked in Mass and it was the only way we could afford IVF/ICSI because Mass has a mandate that insurance pays for treatment. We had infertility issues and were blessed with 3 girls via IVF. One of my twins now has an ileostomy and her GI issues were caused by being a twin preemie. Hopefully your able to grow your family wether it be though treatments or adoption ❤
Wooow your plants 😮❤
I live in Bend Oregon! I need help with plants ! 😊
I have adopted a cat 🐈 Maggie and he's my furry baby I feel joyful 💕 you are amaizing Maggie feel blessings will always come for you darling Maggie they will you have a heart of gold and so does Zac he's awsome 🥰🙌😘 I'm always rooting for you Maggie ❤️
Totally agree. Amazingly pleasant personality. Good spirit.
Not to scare you but that hsg test was terribly painful for me, however I didn't have any blockages. I totally get that you don't really wanna do all the tests and stuff. It's so stressful. My husband and I so far have done 1 iui and then we took a 2 month break, I was so relieved to take a break lol! Starting again this month. I hope you are able to have kids someday! Infertility sucks! Going on 4 years ttc for us, totally get it!
I had the hsg test done recently, I’d say it’s moderately painful, more like the worst period cramps of your life (and I had a possible tube blockage that they flushed out)
A lot of beautiful kids need to be adopted. We adopted our son 20 years ago and I wouldn’t change a thing. We did do the fertilization thang 3 times and it wouldn’t work. My wife went through hell and she’s very healthy. Your bodies been through enough and you can still have the family you want. ❤️
Coleus is my favorite plant !
I bleed for 7 days like a bad head wound so I feel you girl
I would suggest Samantha Busch fighting infertility taking you on her journey. She also has the bundle of joy fund to help couples with fertility issues. She’s been through testing ivf had her son. Multiple failed i f attempts finally a surrogate
I have had a ureteal stent in and out several times. Due to part of my colon being dead. Got surgery and removed that part of my colon. One time i had the stent removed in the office instead of under anesthesia and never again!!
Hi love my names jeanette. I’m struggling with conceiving my first child for about 6 years now. Your not alone. I have scar tissue adhesion disease that causes all my internal organs to
Be in a bunch of scar tissues an my Fallopian tubes are partially blocked, praying for you ❤️❤️❤️
Try acupuncture for fertility. I also did cupping and ear seedling. I got pregnant right after after struggling for years
I totally understand you.Adenomyosis no information infertility expensive test...
Maggie take your time with pregnancy. I was 21 when I got married and 30 when I had my 1st son. I lost two children to miscarriage then I found our I had endometriosis needed surgery and then it still took 6 month to conceive, so I was much older but now my boy's r 27 &26 and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Nine months ago so you probably won’t see this. I had fertility problems of undefined origin, and, here is the part I wanted to whisper gently to you: For 8 years I tried to have a baby after getting married. Went to the docs and did all the things that insurance covered. We were buying a new home and didn’t want to go outside our budget. Anyway, the idea consumes you until there is a dark little cloud in your home.
I woke one morning thinking I had the flu but was in a family way. I had long given up and was very surprised. I was fortunate. But the idea of a baby was no longer at the tell end of each month checking my basal, etc.
Girl you have health issues that deserve a medal of honour negotiating. Stress is a wet blanket too. I just want to say don’t confuse baby stress with the happiness of such a good marriage. It is hard, don’t we know that! But like I hear this brave girl, you, say over & over, it is what it is. I think that is why I became interested in you guys - your obvious deep affection for each other, and your bravery. As I watch your episodes I wish my granddaughter would as well for the sheer sense of will you guys have. She is only 16 battling some health hurdles.
Take care, let life or docs where you can, and just be happy otherwise.
I had dye test on my tubes done it wasn't painful at all and my tubes weren't blocked however I've never conceived yet, im seeing a specialist next month
Maybe you could have a surrogate or do some kind of in vitro stuff? (Not sure what that latter is but anyhow..) Your body might know what it can or can't handle.. I'm sorry, it's hard.. You have so much love and wisdom to give. And beauty! C'est la vie, be of good cheer if you can. (Reminds me of that punky British song, "Reasons to Be Cheerful") Anyhow maybe it will happen, you have time..
If you and your husband like vegetables. Grow what you like! Its so satisfying and much healthier and they taste better!!
Although well intentioned, questions like "Are you sure you are not pregnant" always made me feel terrible. Please stop before you ask. I have struggled with adhesions all my life, and it is not as simple as saying don't stress out, or stay positive, etc.
me too, mostly due to severe endo & hysterectomy years ago lead to my bowel being destroyed, about to have 35 th surgery
@@nikkimclay5474 it is crazy. I don't think people realize how these adhesions and scar tissue came grow everywhere. I got my ostomy bag reversed but that caused an obstruction with scar tissue that almost killed me, even though I felt fine that morning. The doc said it could happen again. So know that there are a bunch of us out there, and good luck, my friend!
@@nadinecooper8709 unless you experienced them no one comprehends, even drs are split on beliefs whether they cause pain or not ? having your rectum adhered right up high into the pelvis, as I did once was horrific pain. Apparantly only some of us get them ? inflammation, infection, surgery, disease all cause them. Im afraid of what an ostomy surgery will cause
@@nadinecooper8709 my next surgery is ostomy
@@nikkimclay5474 all I can say is that Maggie's channel was one of the first resources I found and it really made me realize how to deal with the situation with a sence of humor-- I named mine Stanley of course. When i have problems now i know it is Stanley trying to manifest himself again, but so far i have managed to internalize him, ha ha. It will be okay.
Give yourself a year off from medical fertility testing. With weight gain, infusions and balancing new meds the body needs time to adapt. As others have suggested, (simultaneously with building the body) find a good agency who can begin the mountains of paperwork that the adoption process can involve. The plants are doing so well. It will be exciting to see them in their outside home. I am envious as my touch, my aura or maybe just bad caretaking seems to result in massive botanical demise.
I have GI issues caused by GI birth defects. But I’m your height and weight I’ve been 86-89Ibs for 10yrs so my doctors say it’s healthy for me because I’ve maintained with the help of a jejunum feeding tube
I always find it bizarre going to “normal” ob-gyn appointments how little information or answers there are about what’s going on if you’re having problems - I most likely have pcos but never is there any background or “testing” re what’s actually going on. Basically every doctor has been nonplussed and just recommended birth control. The one time I ever had questions about the long-term impacts of it, my ob referred me to a fertility specialist. It’s bizarre that it feels like there is very little specific information about a condition that 10% of women have. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have something that’s actually rare.
Maggie, having a child from your body is not everything. Your body has been through so, so, much over the years. Perhaps enjoy practising making babies while exploring other options. Surrogacy or adoption. In the meantime, you could foster. You and Zak would be awesome parents. You have so much love to give. There is a child out there that needs your love and the beautiful guidance to become a well rounded adult. Child birth/c section would put your body through hell. After giving birth you then have a little person to take care of, while your body is trying to fix itself ... which may just be too much. Take care and good luck ❤
When your husband stopped by to say hello later, in the video, you can tell that the two of you are soulmates.
I am sorry to hear about your problems with fertility.😢😢
If you decide to go through fertility please get a preconception consult from really good Maternal/Fetal medicine doctor. The can lay out the risk of what you have. I am an RN in L&D and now work in Maternal/Fetal medicine. Now with endometriosis it can spread everywhere makes me curious about the Crohn’s Disease vs endometriosis. That can cause increased bleeding and cramping you have had blockage and all that is going on with scar tissue it may not be as bad for you. The HSG I had I am a big baby it went well ask for anxiety medication prior to the procedure and zofran. I would and take Ibuprofen not my medical advice because i can’t if it goes against your protocols then you do what you feel comfortable. We work hand in hand with our fertility doctors and we are to the point. It isn’t easy we won’t say don’t do it but give you what can happen. Some with Crohn’s do well and like other immunological disease can get better or not. I think also an Ultrasound of your uterus see about fibroids as well. Sometimes they do an exploratory lap to get rid of endometriosis which really helps. I also imagine you would be followed by a MFM and dietician to make sure you are getting what you need. Trust me we all kinds of patients even some we said you do not need to be pregnant. Transplants, cancer and on chemo, past strokes, heart disease both congenital and regular adult cardiology-big difference. Now people are actually living to have a baby and had severe and corrective surgery for congenital heart defects. We had a pediatric Cardiologist go to adult cardiology to those patients. I mean completely different worlds. It would help to know if the growth of the uterus could irritate your scars and stretching may hurt. Possibly you would deliver with your GI surgeons on hand because doing a C-section which you would need I’m guessing due to not wanting you to rip which is horrible on normal people if it extends to the rectum. MFM is very good about taking care of delivery issues and helping your OB doctor who you may still see come up with a plan. I had unexplained infertility and adopted in Ukraine, probably not an option at the time. He is the love of my life we got him at 18 months but he never got onto the growth chart until he was like 16 yo and it still was less than 5%. We just have amazing relationships with our referring offices and really review surgery notes what you had in the past look up and research about other patients. We do have residents and a fellowship, not that you would go there but it shows we are very research friendly and I know several that love a challenge. It also helps you with forming a relationship prior to getting pregnant and are familiar with us. I did go on to have a 3 bio kids all C-section i had prayed if needed one i would rather have it in the beginning and not labor all day then need one. The recovery period is so much better. My strong willed child turned breech at 38 weeks. So there you go. She is 22 yo and still headstrong and strong willed. I can almost promise there are studies out there just remember the .org/ .gov .edu, PubMed are most reliable. You are fantastic and I wish you the very best. I just did clomid and IUI, I have a genetic condition so hesitant with hormone therapy and cost. It worked and I miscarried but shortly after adopting my beloved son I got pregnant. It is a old wives tale that it happens all the time. Realistically it does not. I also would advise genetic carrier testing for you and your husband prior to getting pregnant and also a visit to see a genetic counselor that deals with OB and fertility only. They help a lot of patients and discuss any risk of Crohn’s genetically to the baby or any other questions. They whole world of genetics has exploded. I have neurofibromatosis 1 autosomal dominant so does half my family. If you look it up people freak out, same with you I am sure but it is livable and fine and I am healthy. Anyway best of luck I love your videos and you would rock being an ostomy nurse and helping teens. So hard for them with anything. You could even do virtual visits so you would not have to be away and limit your schedule working with patient advocacy really helps with nursing, personal history you have and helping answer questions they are embarrassed to as the doctor. Totally recommending next time we have a patient getting this done. We see a lot of colon cancer and while vastly different a colostomy is still hard.
Cold here in Boston where are you Maggie?
I'm about an hour north of Philadelphia!
❤❤❤❤❤
Drs suggest u dont take ib proffin?
I would like to research this continue but don't know how to spell it. Can you please provide the spelling? The flowers are beautiful.
The flower I am showing in the beginning? Celosia!
@@LetsTalkIBD No. I'm talking about the disease you mention. I would like to research it and find out more about it. I have never heard of it before. Thanks.
Adenomyosis?
💕💕💕💕
How do you empty your closed end pouches????
I empty out of the ring! It sounds weird, but I find it so much easier to clean out the ring with a little water than trying to clean out the flimsy plastic on the emptying kinds!
I wonder whether there are fertility clinics in Mexico that specialize in American patients. They exist for many other types of medicine and the doctors are often trained in the US. Maybe you could at least get the tests done there and although US insurance wouldn't cover it, the reduced cost might be worth it. Canada might also be an option although I hear the wait for medical procedures there is very long.
Have you seen Precious Stars Vlogs on youtube? She has severe adenomyosis and just recently had a baby. She documented the whole process in videos and it really didn't take her long at all to get pregnant (She did IUI with donor sperm because she is single).
P.s. those estimates of blood loss during periods are misleading because period "blood" is only about 30-50% actual blood and also includes a lot of other material.
☀️
Has Zak been tested?
Please let me know of any information you learn on this disease! I’m very interested and I have it myself. ❤️❤️
Be content. It's a wonderful feeling if you embrace it.
How about Zak ?
Men can have low fertility too ...have you considered that . Also would all that scar tissue be able to stretch to accommodate a pregnancy
Yes - both of us would be tested. According to my pelvic floor therapist, she was amazed by hold mobile my scar tissue on my abdomen was.
😘
It is called a hysterosalpingogram I had that test done. It is not fun it is very painful. I never had a Charlie horse in my thigh and it was the most painful test that I’ve ever done. I’ve been trying to get pregnant for the last 17 years and still have no luck, but I am OK with that now
Just a thought: If you haven't yet tried Chinese medicine, it might be helpful. Someone who trained in China would be best (just ask).
Oh wow no never thought about it but I will look into it. Thanks for the info.
@@lisamejia7700 You are most welcome. Search for accupuncturists to get started. A good one will also have an in-house "pharmacy" of herbs and medicines.
Was there a salpingohysterogram on your list? I've never had one, but I had to learn about them in college ;) I know so many people mean well when asking about children, but those folks probably have no idea what is happening in that person's (or couple's) life. We are still questioned, and I'm turning 44 later this year. That ship has sailed. Not in the harbor. Not in the sea. It's in dry dock. I would give everything to have a child, but it turned out, we only had one shot, and that was lost with a miscarriage. No matter what decision you and Zak come to, it will be the right one for you. May I add one more thing? Tomorrow (Saturday) is April 1st. Please do not pull 'April Fool's Jokes' using a fake pregnancy. It's downright hurtful to many, and it's just not funny. /thank you.
Surrogate sounds like the healthiest path for you. Sending you prayers.
It is very expensive though! It's often out of reach for average people.
It seems like so many women's health issues are not very well researched.
Definitely not a doctor, but familiar with the TTC world. Has your husband's sperm fertility/motility been tested? I'm sure it's a large probability since you have many health issues, but it just seems odd too that you seem to be producing enough eggs, etc. There are home fertility tests for males you can order!
One of our regrets is not adopting sooner. It's a bummer I know, and something terribly painful for a lady but yea it just wasn't happening. You must get this comment a million times a second, irregardless best of luck moving forward
A normal period is anywhere from four -seven days. If it last longer then three weeks then that’s a heavy period. Mine would last anywhere from a month to two months , now that’s heavy
The heaviness is in the amount the flow is, not the length of time. Like when some of us bleed through an ultra tampon and a pad within 2 hours, that's excessively heavy. Menorrhagia is when it lasts longer than "normal".
@@JustMe-zt2zj okay I would use super tampons and the thickest pad I could find and within 29 minutes I was soaked through
I am not a doctor either but I went through fertility. My numbers were great but the painful test you referred to revealed my tubes were blocked. In-vitro came next but the embryos didn't attach to the uterus. My priority was becoming a mother, not spending years in a fertility office, so we adopted. She's going to be 26 next month. I would like to suggest that you don't have any pelvic xrays the two weeks before you ovulate. It may just may cause damage to the embryo and/or fetus/baby. If you are determined to have biological children, I suggest you have in-vitro and skip all those expensive, uncomfortable tests. Just my opinion.
I know you watch Hannah witton, she has said before I believe that she wanted to get pregnant before having her rectum removed because her doctors told her it becomes exponentially harder to get pregnant after rectum removal. I can’t remember what videos she says it but I wish I could. It’s definitely something that should be discussed with all patients!
I actually did discuss this with my surgeon prior but he said he never had patients with any issues with this. Oh well!
Whatever way you end up parents you‘ll be wonderful parents anyway. Doesn’t take away from your emotions right now obviously, but you will be great parents.
If you change tampons a whole lot, like five or six times daily (or pads) then that's pretty heavy. I used to change hourly the first three days and periods lasted 7 days, never less. That is awfully heavy. I eventually got anemic. Does that give you some ideas?
I think Hannah was saying she couldn't have j-pouch surgery until after she was done with pregnancy but I could be misremembering.
The body is amazing though and science is incredible. I struggled to fall pregnant as I had a lot of major surgeries (not as many as Maggie but still quite a few and the thinking is that even though my tubes are open, something is impacting my ovaries ability to release eggs) and I am "older" in the realm of fertility (34). We did IVF and though I was nervous about it before we went down that path, I am so thankful for how much I learned during the process. It seems to have worked for us 🍀🤞🐣 and the added benefit is that there are many things that can be screened for in the embryos ahead of time off that is of concern.
Especially if Maggie has a high resting follicle count, I imagine they'd have great luck!
It is a lot of testing and appointments but once I was in it I found it all quite manageable (even working full time at a very busy corporate job).
Also I recently watched a great video on IVF and adenomyosis from a fertility doctor: czcams.com/video/T8F_Fd7bShQ/video.html
That being said there are many equally beautiful ways to make a family and not all of them involve carrying children yourself.
