    You’re looking at what 90% of Baltimore city looks like now. It’s sad. Baltimore has stunning architecture and is stuck in a ravaged time capsule. Hopefully one day there will be a turn around in politicians to rebuild Baltimore. In all seriousness, I’ve worked as a paramedic in Baltimore for 15 years. I would go in those places unless you wearing pants and boots. Needles everywhere and plenty of homeless and drug addicts to come at you.

      @Schaden Freud affordable housing, decent paying jobs and saftey nets have all degraded. You're right it shouldn't be like this but we as a population need to start caring about people again and not individuals alone. Drug addiction often comes with homelessness and job loss, loss of jobs and stability also increases the likelyhood of crime. The stock market may be fine but that's not for everyday Americans and we really need a revolution of caring and support in this nation.

      I dont think Baltimore will ever recover. It has everything to so with the people that live there. Politicians are nobody, they arent on the streets murdering and causing problems.

    • @BadaBing215
      @BadaBing215 Před 4 lety +10

      I worked at shock trauma in Baltimore for 6 years, including during the riots. We were stuck in the hospital for 4 days. The amount of death we dealt with was unreal, even military physicians there training said it was worse than some war zones they had been in. As crazy as it sounds I feel like Baltimore can revive itself. It just needs to start with the politicians. Being on the streets with medic and police, you see how much their hands are tied. Now there are some seriously fucked police and medics and I don’t know endorse their actions and mindsets. We had a police commissioner come in and start to make a difference. But the crooked people felt the heat and got him out. For anyone looking explore Baltimore like this in the future I strongly suggest you don’t. If you’re going to anyone. Don’t highlight yourself by walking around in gym shorts and t shirts. The chances of you encountering something is astronomical. I will put myself out there for anyone in the future that wants to do this. I worked in EMS and fire for 12 years now and know Baltimore very well. I would be happy to escort and educate. These guys were not smart at all. You are very lucky.

    • @BeyondTheAverageFilm
      @BeyondTheAverageFilm Před 4 lety +3

      @@PaganShagger people dont just riot and attack for no reason. The economic unrest there likely led to generations of violence and desperation (from some not all) people. Imo the city can be recovered with more properly used funds for programs and maybe some new businesses if not a federal infrastructure plan for the city which would provide heaps of jobs. I know they were hit bad by multiple deals that offshored or removed employment in the area and that's looks to have really screwed up the livelihood of many living there.

    I had to walk to work at Hopkins in the dark about 9:30 PM from Eutaw and Lexington across the bridge down Orleans St. past this place because the snow had stopped bus service. Snow was up to my knees.

    This is a version of "Old Town Mall" centered on N. Gay Street north of Orleans Street, that was partly "Gentrified" after the 1968 riots into a pedestrian Mall. It remained that way until the crack wars of the late Nineties ran most businesses out and the dopers took over the area.

    Old Town Mall is one of the best and most underrated dead/abandoned malls out there. It's creepy level rivals, if not outright surpasses malls like Rolling Acres and Dixie Square and certainly very few can match its rich history. I wish there was more content about it.

    Stay in the car...good idea. Baltimore...where even the classy hotels warn guests to be off the streets by dark. I can't decide if it's youthful bravado or stupidity that would lead you to walk around Murderland...at night no less.
