Interesting topic! I find that aesthetics has a symbolic purpose. When I studied in a buddhist temple, we learned that the items that were part of the ritual had to be handled in a certain way because "the flow" was an important part of the aesthetics and the role of a certain aethetics was to convey the message correctly. The wrong color in our robes would ruin the message that the audience would receive, or ringing the bell with the wrong hand.... my only problem is when people are into the aesthetics without bothering with the content (form over content kinda thing) so... yeah!

I really liked the good old iceberg example in this context. How ever each one of us decides to "show of" our own tips might not tell anything about what lies under the surface. The older I get the more I have started to see the shades of gray and not to only rely on my first instict alone. I have always been "quick and intuitive in the process and still finding often that first judgement was correct...but not always.

Oooh, that is a great point to discuss! Appearance can definitely be deceptive or misleading at time 🤭 You could make a video on the darker side of aesthetics 😆 Many thanks for the perspective friend 💚💚

Really interesting topic. I agree that aesthetic is important. What a tarot or oracle deck looks like matters to which you want to and enjoy using. The layout of a spread is also visual. In terms of appearance I would like to be more intentional with how I dress and accessorise but I don't always have time. Kelly Ann Maddox is very inspiring in the regard.
The aesthetic expectations on women's bodies is just ... ugh such a draining experience. I could go on but I'll not.
Loved hearing your thoughts on this.

Such a good point where tarot is concerned, you are so right! And I know what you mean in time being a challenging factor in being to create a look 🤪 Many thanks for watching and your valuable contributions to the conversation! 💚💚

I'm trying to formulate a video on this being inspired so by you and a few others on this topic of aesthetic, creep factor in decks, magick...
Thank you for being such a voice in this, our witchy/tarot world. 💯

A interesting topic and yes so many branches of it you can cover. As a very visual and tactile learner I can see how it is used for so many reasons.

This was fabulous - you raised some seriously good points. I particularly liked the part where you indicated how dismissal or assumptions around the nature of aesthetics causes us to do ourselves a disservice. ^_^

So interesting James - I absolutely love aesthetics but I need substance first more importantly but it also bothers me that aesthetics are poo-pooed as being fluffy or somehow indicative of a practice that lacks depth or nuance. Thanks for speaking to this ♥️
