  • Whether it's the threads of fate, or your threads of thinking that have lead you here, welcome! I hope this rambly chat about cause and effect, interconnectedness and divining with the cards is (at the very least) fun food for thought 😄 Much love and well wishes to you all 💗

Oh how your eyes sparkle 😍 my thoughts on faith and free will is kinda like the childrens seesaw 😅 and like tha balance is sometimes in those moments when both are at the same level.

I love that analogy, such an interesting way to think about it! 😆💚

I think Plato said that people are always free to make a choice, but are not free from baring the consequences of that choice. I think that such is the relationship between free will and fate - there is not one thread, or if we accept that there is, and we are starting it when we are born, then with each choice we make, we create strands in the thread. So there is not absolute free will, but we can definitely end up on different place in our lives based on our choices. That's why I think awareness is so important and that's why I tend to lean more on spiritual and psychological readings, because they can help me get to that better alternate reality, but if there is indeed written fate, I haven't lost a lot if I didn't know my fortune, it just happened to me like it was supposed to be. Ironically, it is also the psychological readings that could help me improve my coping mechanisms and accept the things I cannot change.

I see it as a dichotomy that produces paradox. Paradox is the Divine zone...
    It's a bit like this:
I set out from Eugene to go to Portland. I've got a million ways to get there and I get to choose.
    And/or/both

So many great thoughts! As a believer of both, I feel like as the wheel of fate turns, there are aspects of an individual's freewill that could change a 'pre-destined' future. Destiny is big... have a mind to make your mark on it.
Funny, I have similar opinions on endings. There is still moments where I won't want to finish a show because it feels so firm. The fluidity of a continuing thing feels more free in a way.

I do believe in both and that they exist and work interactively with each other. I think fate is sometimes misunderstood as something that is unalterable, but I don't agree. Fate can still be fluid. Out of our control yes, but still changeable and influenced by the choices we make. I believe that certain eventualities are destined to happen, but how they come to be and what form they present themselves in at the time are not pre-determined and depend upon the choices we make en route.

Thanks for this. Great conversation. I also find myself somewhere in the middle but have difficulty saying why. The way you broke it down in extremes between nihilism and strict theism really clicks for me. Extremes can definitely be restrictive and boring.
