Great to catch another video from you, James, about Tarot journaling. It’s always interesting to hear your musings about the various processes that you have gone through. I am presently mulling over at least three different styles of journalling; one being similar to your video from 2020 (showing a card-of-the-day, keywords, quote and insights from the quote), a second being a Tarot Spread journal where I record different spreads, questions, interpretations and insights (I have ordered a journal from Amazon for this one), and a third being a study journal where I record quotes, insights and learning about the tarot from various books I am reading. This one will need to be a file (rather than a bound book), so I can add sections and pages as it evolves. I can’t see myself keeping a daily journal, but I may surprise myself. All three that I have described above are flexible and don’t need a time-frame. They will be works-in-progress. 😃

How amazing to have you back!!!
I loved how you talked about censoring your words in your journals before. That's so funny that we do that!!! Kinda insane. I burned all my old teenage journals at one point when I was little over 20. I was too embarrased to read them. And now 20 years later I'm pissed to my 20y old self.
I have actually been thinking alot lately that how much us adults have to cencor our words every single day. You know me and my blunt way of speaking when I can be truly me...vut that's not possible at work or even online nowadays. It's actually very rare that we get to say all the things that we have in our head as they are. So when I was watching this I realized that I could do that in a journal. To write out all the things that get unsaid during the day when I have to be politically and socially correct. Interesting thought...and might turn out to be quite nasty but purgative journal 🤔

What I would pay to hear the words of a teenage Hanni! 😆 And your blunt manner of speaking adds to your charm, I love it! So many things to overthink or not say out loud, at least we have our journals ☺️ Many thanks for your insights friend 💚💚💚

Ahhhh James so lovely to see your face again! I loved this. I often think about my journaling practice and how I make sense of it and I love hear how others do this too - it helps in so many ways - for instance, the mistakes point - sometimes when I journal feelings or dreams I am so fast at writing I trip over myself and end up not writing words fully because I'm already on the next word and it looks like such a mess 😂 I think it might be because I've become so used to typing really fast or voice dictation. LOL but what you said about honouring that process and the therapeutic aspect of allowing it to all come out as it does and remain that way is so beautiful and freeing! Thanks so much 🙏 ♥️ Xxxx

Many thanks, friend 😆 Oooh, I'd never thought of the act of writing being a way to slow down. I am not super techy so typing takes about the same amount of time for me lol! Maybe a digital journal for the thoughts you need to get out quickly and a physical one for a more meditative style? Much love and well wishes your way 💚💚💚

i've had to destroy several journals in my past due to certain people finding them. it was awful. i now keep my journal fairly...impersonal and on a flashdrive. i'm sure you're right about it all, but it has colored how i deal with people.

Great video, it’s always interesting to see how others journal! A book on journaling that I found inspirational is The New Diary by Tristine Rainer. It’s quite old but what I Iove about it is that she introduces many different approaches and techniques to journalling.

It is good to see you back! ❤😊 My goodness, I don't think I could do a blank / unlined journal but that one is lovely. I got one of Matzner's books too + definitely have appreciated it for journalling. I like the idea of writing in fictional styles -- I'd not thought of that as a journalling idea; I did ask for (and receive) a book about writing short stories for a holiday gift... we'll see how that goes.

    • @jamesfeeney623

@@jamesfeeney623 I am sure I'll share! The book I chose is "Never Say You Can't Survive: How to Get Through Hard Times By Making Up Stories" by Charlie Jane Anders -- so, from a sci-fi author and also perhaps relevant to journalling as self-care practice!
