I recently watched the whole series again, and fell in love with Don Draper. I loved the nuanced and deep portrayal by Jon Hamm. He was neither a good guy nor a bad guy, but a multi-dimensional man, flawed and gifted. This actor's intelligence shines through the role.

I fully intended to watch Mad Men when it first came out, but life happened and I missed the entire series.
I just watched all of it two weeks ago and I am floored by John Hamm. He is 1000% brilliant in the show. Your eyes never leave him.
Timothy Dalton is my favorite actor in the Universe, and John Hamm just might be his equal.
Don is a coward, self centred to the point of narcissism, misogynistic, morally corrupt. Anything that he does that is decent is done purely for effect. If you fall in love with a guy like that, you will come out of it badly.
Once in a while someone comes along and owns a character with such skill that we can't even imagine anyone else playing it; like Jon Hamm and Don Draper.

Just finished the show. It`s so interesting to see clips from the pilot and see how young they all were back then. It feels like you`ve grown up with them towards the end.

He's a damn good actor, but this usually gets overshadowed by a focus on the good looks.

It's the nature of the beast... we like to look at them but as long as one also recognizes the talent, I see nothing wrong with it. Many great female actors get overlooked as nothing more than pretty faces... far more than men do.
I call it the Ryan Gosling syndrome. Over shadowed by the looks.

He reminds me a little of James Arness who played Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke
What a fantastic casting decision to put him in as the lead, never seen him before but the subject matter appealed to me and it is one of best series I have ever seen, he was excellent and the whole cast were, it is depressing that it ended.

Jon was perfect for the Don Draper/Dick Whitman role. Very intelligent. Working class background. And he lost his mom at age 10, then lost his dad at age 20. Broken childhood.
My mom started smoking when she was 16. She's been rushed to the emergency room three times in the last six months because her lungs are destroyed. Don't smoke, y'all.

I connect to Don on so many levels, I guess I'm a coward as well...
I'm on yet another rewatch, and I'm no longer sure Don's a coward at all. Dude saw his father and his commanding officer killed right in front of him. He had a horrifically abusive childhood. It takes guts to start all over from nothing. I mean I still don't agree with a lot of his life choices, and maybe he could have benefitted from therapy, if only he'd have been open to it (and yeah, not a lot if people were back then.) Coward just feels like an inadequate word or concept for a troubled survivor. 🤷
Also, I know absolutely nothing about you, but I hope you're doing ok.

I found it much easier to scroll the screen down to not watch what she trying to get going. Listening makes this much more productive.

The impression I have is that, Jon has incorporated so much over all these years, the character Don Draper, that fixation has come true in his life. And I see how he struggles not to experience this reality. A character that consecrated him to the actor, but that already saturated all his emotion, exhausting it to the point of him wanting to be free of him. I wish he lived now, other people of success who with lightness, make them happy as an actor.

That little skirt and tan job were done specially for Hamm. Every non-joke he made there was a chorus of giggling women in the audience. Good on him.

Jon Hamm says something like "we just shot season 5", so the interview has to be dated around 2011.
Then the title and description of this video are misleading. It's titled "Ten Years of Mad Men," which would be 2017.

I think during the show he was struggling with alcoholism himself or something like that, think he is leaner and healthier now or something
I don't think she is being flirtatious. She just seems to like him and be happy.
He also seems comfortable. He is talking how I see most people talk when thinking and he often makes eye contact.

He appears uncomfortable with the immediate appeal and flirtatious reaction by women. He had a tough upbringing, similarity to Draper has got to be difficult.

I love watching Don Drapers platonic relationships Peggy/Anna/Joan etc. even Sally they are the most interesting. Even though he is absolutely gorgeous, I would prefer to be his friend.
