Although I typically like restorations to keep things as they were intended to be used, I will say it a a great idea and you saved a piece of history. Well done.

Why no primer before black paint ? Very simple, i made this restoration during second lockdown period ( november in France ) and i couldn't buy any..😦 Not very important, it's box bottom.😜. Thank you for comment, see you soon 👍

Beautifully finished and repurposed antique. To restore it back to original would have been a waste, as it would not be used. As a watch caddy, it will live on.

Good job! I see now why you didn't treat that oak with anything, wouldn't want to stain the watch straps. Proof indeed that France is the home of fine wine, bread and restorers. All you need to do now is put a beret on it :)

It took me an afternoon to make paper look aged 😅. Girodon et Cie Villeurbanne Lyon, exactly, not far from were i live.

I watched this whole thing to see it work and instead of a restoration it was an upcycle. I wish I knew before I put that time in.

I maybe got my hopes up on my own for something more dramatic/surprising in the "new utility" but it's definitely the most unique and stylish watch case I've ever seen. Love how shiny it turned out.

Nice repurposing of the object, would prefer you used brass rivets but since it is now a wristwatch dormitory it's a mute point
Finished product looks like C-3PO got caught in a car crusher.
a pop rivet really a soft brass rivet would have been pennys and would looked a lot nicer
