- A look at two Elvis bootlegs, an early one from the 1970s and a recent 3-LP set released to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Elvis' American Sound studio recordings.

Great video. I love these old bootleg LP's, I bought many bootlegs in the 80's and 90's at many record fairs here in Holland. Still buy the new and old bootlegs, I have around 200 bootlegs on vinyl. It is now very difficult to find bootlegs on record fairs these days. I have the "king of Las Vegas" also but mine is the second pressing, USA1975, the one you have is the first pressing, USA 1975. Got this info from the bootleg Elvis book. There are 5 different pressings of this album. I also bought this new Memphis 3 LP set, very nice artwork and great sound. I got number 73/200. All black vinyl.
I'll never forget my first encounter with bootlegs. I'd just spent my last money in another shop, so I had to get the shopkeeper to hold them for me for a week. I still remember what they were: '68 Comeback 1 and 2 and an audience recording called Elvis Is Alive and Well and Singing in Las Vegas (terrible sound quality). Enjoy the Memphis set!
Congratulations David, the 3 LP Set looks great. New "Limited Editon" Vinyl Bootlegs are released almost every week and some Editions (with different colored Vinyl) have only 50-300 pieces. I stop buying these "Rarities" a long time ago because there's absolutely nothing new on it to listen. I still love my classic Vinyl Bootleg Collection from the 70's and 80's. I know the Sound-Quality and Cover-Design isn't the best but we got new material on most every single Release back in the Glory Bootleg Vinyl Days...but i still collect Bootleg CD's since the first Releases in the mid 1980's 😉

I wasn't aware of the high number of new bootleg LPs. I'm usually out of the loop when it comes to new releases, though. I know what you mean about the old boots. I have some old Japanese fan magazines with flyers inside, advertising bootleg products such as records and VHS tapes. They sold for a lot of money back then, but it must have been exciting buying them as they came out.
When I went to Memphis in 84 I took a case to just fill with bootlegs. Exciting time! Nice Memphis trio, never saw this one before.

The 68 comeback mastered in Stereo is a must for music fans by the bootleggers. I'll try to get that. Fair was on yesterday. Elvis fans bought the Elvis lps again. I only bought Gerry and the Pacemakers lp. RSD bought James Bond, 😊Man With the Golden gun pic disc😊
I've heard mixed reports about the 68 Comeback album. Some love it, others say it's reprocessed stereo. Have you heard it?
@@ElvisPresleyInJapan It's very enjoyable as I have AR speakers. So I'm spoilt by the audio. That's with the cd version. I do have the vinyl but haven't tested them out
I have this one on the way, appreciate the review. I have quite a number of the early vinyl bootlegs and they were certainly something special to have at the time. The sound quality on many of them is dismal but there were some great ones (for the time). Two that come to mind are "The '68 Comeback" which gave a first look at some of the unreleased material from that show. Another one was "The King Goes Wild" which had the performances from the Ed Sullivan show. To think that at the time the only part of the Ed Sullivan appearances I had seen were the short scenes shown in Elvis On Tour.
Apparently, there are two versions of The King Goes Wild, the first one having" Made in Great Britain" on the back. Great cover. The '68 Comeback and Vol. 2 were two of the first three boots I ever bought, along with Elvis Is Alive and Well and Singing in Las Vegas, the last one being a poor audience recording. Hi there my friend. Ok well lol you hit a spot that I do like a lot. I was the one... I know Elvis's song lol. But I did start buying Beatles and Elvis boot back in the 80s and wow have they come a long way. I do have a bunch of them but the one that dose have the band around it I do like a lot. I have not see that one :)!!! I did hang up my obies on my wall win I was younger... Wow big mistake I know now lol!!! This was a great video, and I sure did enjoy it all the best to you :)!!!!!

Hi Dave ,great piece that ,I had quite a few bootlegs back in the day ,some of them not all were really well done ,the covers and sound were good ,some were poor ,a had a copy also of the jailhouse rock book ,these albums you featured looked awesome really great quality ,do you know how I would get a copy ,or am thinking with a pressing run of only 200 av probably lost out ,if you do have any details of ad appreciate you letting me know ,like you a didn’t get in to bootlegs CDs a found the prices off putting ,a don’t see many if any bootlegs now at record fairs I attend ,I Would still buy them if any turned up though ,a had a copy of behind closed doors the box set ,that was a really good release ,a also think the early TV shows are nice to have ,with the FTD label most of hard to locate tracks have been officially released but my self I still would buy copies if the chance arose in the future ,great video Dave ,take care ,tony 🎸🎸🎶🎶👍
