This video has triple layers of nostalgia: it's footage from 2003, for a reunion of a movie that was was made in 1993, about teens from 1976.
And here we are in 2023 watching it.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂triple layers of nostalgia huh?
This movie was introduced to me my senior year, 2003, on trip to Tahoe. It's one of my top 5 favorite movies.
Don't forget the photo and video quality from 1950s!
This movie was magical. It really captures the 1970s american teenager that just wanted to have a good time.

70’s, we (myself and my peers) lived this in the mid-90’s.

@@clevelandbci9562 a little change in his pocket... And a few hundred million dollars in his net worth
The best part of this movie was how accurate it was. For us who lived back then, you knew someone who was exactly like every single character in the movie. Plus it captured the mood and atmosphere of the time so well. We had jamming music, hot muscle cars, and horrible styles. But it was so much better than today.
Exactly! Even in very small towns we can identify will all those characters. We partied at the Firetower instead of the Moontower tho......
I was born in Texas in 1975. I can remember my parent’s friends being just like these characters. The Wooderson character in my family/friends was my uncle. He was nearly the same guy hanging out with the younger guys (my dad’s friends) looking to score with the younger girls and drove a TransAm Firebird just like Burt Reynold’s with the huge bird on the hood. I remember thinking he was the coolest guy around but it turns out he was just a massive loser.
@Larry Snyder
The early 90s was the same way. I can’t wait until someone makes our “Dazed And Confused”. They’ll probably have to call it “Whatever” or “Nevermind”. Whatever they call it, it’s going to have one hell of a soundtrack.
I feel a bit sorry for GenY/Z, though. Their soundtrack is going to be sad AF and the movie is just going to be a bunch of awkward kids sitting around staring into their phones afraid of social situations.
Reminds me of hanging out at the bowling alley as a kid. Bowling, pool and arcade games with friends was a blast.
@@geoffgordon9569 where im from, there was a skating rink that was the teenage hangout where I used to go to every Friday night with my friends and it was always packed. I met so many girls there and it was such a blast. But it got bought out and turned into a book store. So our next hangout was about half a mile away. It was a bowling alley, pool hall, bar, and arcade all rolled into one. Unfortunately it's a Target now. I feel sorry for teenagers today because they've got nowhere to go.
Even this reunion is old as hell 😂
This will always be my favorite movie. It never gets old.

Dazed and Confused is great. I’ve watched it many times. It’s almost hard for me to watch it these days though as it reminds me of a tine I’ll never get back. Those fun party days are long long gone

I grew up in Austin and still live here.this movie just resonates with me because it portrays what Austin used to be like such a cool laid-back easy place. The high school used in the movie. Was actually Bedicheck Junior high in which I attended in the 70s. Just remember this era so well.
Yeah, good times man. But Austin has change so much since then.

Crazy how in 2 years they can do a 30 year reunion; which I think would be amazing. I was in high school when this movie came out so I felt like I could relate to what these kids were going through (even though it was in a completely different era). The mid 90's & mid 70's had alot more in common than the mid 90's and current times.
It’s the 70s but the movie so god damned character rich(moreso than nearly any film if you think about it) that it becomes a timeless coming of age movie
Yeah, well said… I graduated in 93’ and after the doors movie came out, the early and mid-90s was almost a rehash of the 60s and 70s. What an era it was.
Same here. Class of '93. Thank God we didn't get the hazing, but pretty much everything else was the same. Lots of tie dye t-shirts and I still had my '68 Nova. Kids blasting Zepplin in the parking lot and parties out in a field on weekends.
Class of '90 here, and I wouldn't trade the music and everything about my time growing up -- the music boom out of the Seattle/Washington area is some of the best music of all time - the tragedy of losing Soo damn many amazingly talented musicians is a tough pill to swallow, still, but we keep on keeping on..
God bless, and I can't wait for the uncut movie to finally get put out for us🎉
Absolutely...I also feel like us GEN X kids who were in high school in the 90s..have alot more parallels to the 70s more than any other decade because we were the decade birthed from a radical cultural shift change that occurred in the 80s... The same way the kids from 70s did from the 60s.
We weren't the first wave of a generational change but we were the aftermath of it so we kinda took what happened the decade before us and upped the ante a bit... And learned from the mistakes those from the previous decade made.
Just like in the 60s.. they were spawned from the ultra CLEAN AND Conservative family oriented climate of the 50s... Where drugs music and POP CULTURE started to influence the world with TELEVISION starting to be in every house hold.. and that global awareness had the youth kinda in revolt...so came the drugs..that influenced the music and movies then the 70s took that and perfected it
Then the 80s industrialized ALL OF THAT... Then the war on drugs started ..with crack being born that totally CHANGED THE WORLD. And we took all of that and perfected it... Idk just my 0.02
we're creeping up on 30 years haha
Alright alright alright
Damn I feel old now... A shame so many from the movie never acted again but I guess I can only remember them as who they were in this movie. It say get them all back and do a reunion type series at a big class reunion. They did a good job with the Wet Hot American Summer follow ups. I just wouldn't want it to hurt the movie
My wife and I borrowed Dazed and Confused from a friend on VHS right after it came out. We watched it on a Saturday afternoon. At the end of the movie it felt like the party was over too soon. So we watched it again (after running out for more beer and rewinding the tape 😆). Watched it at least three times that day. Probably another 300 times since.
Hell yeah, we watched that movie Soo many times that we knew probably all of the little nuances and most every line..
**Always loved the way the football player that talked really fast slipped through the doorway as it was closing.. just little things that made it even better 🙏❤️❤️🙏
This is such a sweet video. All these fans turning out to enjoy a favorite film and all these talents behind the whole thing there for it too. Hard to believe how innocent 2003 seems now. 😢
"Say man, you got joint?"
"Nah man, not on me."
"Be a lot cooler if you did."
In that moment, I was hooked. My favorite movie, with 2 of my favorite actors, and a phenomenal soundtrack.
I was at this party. Only 10 bucks to get in. The actors were scattered about the grounds, not just under that tent. I remember eavesdropping on Parker Posey with some fans and her being hilarious and easy going with everybody. Fun night.
Did you talk to Jason London? He seemed quite bitter and felt left out by the other actors (he said only Parker Posey talked to him)
Man watching this makes me long for the pre-COVID days of being able to go to a festival and not have to wory about breathing the same air as someone else. Here's to a hopeful 30 yr reunion of the cast in a post-COVID world.
My wife and I graduated HS in 1978. A couple of years ago, we watched this movie and it dawned on me...this was our generation's "American Graffiti".

I was their age when it came out. 16 going on 17 into my senior year. Could not help falling in love with it all.
Im 18 and my mom was like "you should come watch this movie called Dazed and Confused with me" (on 4/20 of all days lol). And i was like..uhhh okay. And ever since that day ive been infatuated with 70s culture and lifestyle. Im a senior this year, so some of this i can totally parellel, driving around with friends looking for more friends to party with, smoking joint in the woods, and more parties. The only part were missing is car culture and good music (which is sadly a huge part). I would give almost anything to go back and expirance a real friday night party as a senior in the 70s (and even the 80s, cause im obsessed with that decade too)

1977 the summer before my freshman year in high school, there was a girl name Julie who was going to be a senior that year. she was my first real make out, ...no home runs, just fun. I graduated "high" school in Texas 4 years before the movie is supposed to take place. And I can honestly say the movie is spot on about the music, times and generation. We were living the life, and we knew it. Wild times. Don't know what to think about today's generation, but I wish you luck.
This is the only movie that takes places in a high school that I love. It’s real and raw and genuinely relatable regardless of the era. It’s about being with friends, no heavy drama, and living in the moment while having fun around company. I enjoyed watching this movie for the first time while having a cold beer. AWESOME! Me & my friends dressed in those "seniors" outfits for a group Halloween costume in the 90's. We kept yelling "Alright you freshman bitches!" all night. It was so fun. Even though we are 90's teens, this movie parallel's my high school years too--car culture, driving around looking for homies to hang out with, getting someone to buy our booze, parties in the woods, & that feeling that it would never end. We completely idolized the 70's, would go out disco dancing every Wed night, dressed in that style, & loved all the music.
Same here🙋 even tho I was living my teens in the 90s we lived breathed and idolized this movie. It was crazy but only 20 years later and my high school years were so parallel to this. This movie was our lives. Salute to you Senior
Did any of you say "Wipe that face off your head, b****!"
That was so awesome. A large portion of the cast including McConaughey and Adams who are such major stars. Probably my 3rd favorite movie after American Graffiti and Breaking Away!
I met Matthew McConaughey at a Cleveland Indians baseball game when he was making White Boy Rick and he was wearing an Alright Alright hat. He talked to me a few minutes and I gave one of his sons a game ball that he was pictured with on his social media pages and publications. I was sitting in the first row behind the Indians dugout and he was sitting up behind homeplate where there was a net and couldn't get a ball. I even offered for him and the kids to come down and sit with me. Moment I will never forget.
I love this movie. I experienced high school about 20 years after this setting. And I have to say there were still many many bits of that culture and lifestyle still around. In the late nineties, for me it was more like in the movie than it is today. Way more.
Agreed completely. The 90s to me always felt like a retro 70s. Im miss those days

Pickford’s orbit orange Judge is a dream machine.
I was born in 1957 and graduated high school in 1975. I think Dazed is 1976 graduation so that’s damn close. They really nailed the era especially for an ostensibly southern high school. It helps a few were native southerners. I’d been living in South America and had heard about this movie coming out and ran and rented it soon as I came back in 1995. I was not disappointed. It’s a classic. Oddly enough even though it’s only one year difference, 1972-75 high school was a bit more hippie than the mid to late 70s which was more stadium rock. Lord though the baggie pants, puca shell necklaces, and clog heel shoes...man...and always smoking weed. Fire Towers and keg parties another commonality. Man the girls were so pretty then and skinnier. Jocks preppies and freaks. It’s hard to explain today. One weird factoid. All my kids still listen to my music from a bit to a lot depending on which of the five. The longevity of 1960s till 1990s electric guitar based rock and rock and roll is amazing isn’t it. We were last year to register for the draft. It was admittedly an easy time for us. Too easy it can sure be argued. One caveat. Pot in moderation. Don’t be a couch tater. Grab life and live it and try to see all you can. Don’t just read about it. And of all those folks who seem so important in high school you’ll be lucky if you’re still talking to a half dozen of them at 50. Be fair and stand up for yourself and screw being popular. Be original and think for yourself
It was actually the last day of school in 1976. The ones calling themselves seniors are actually juniors finishing 11th grade.

It's just really, really well done, well cast and Mathew was a great last minute find. I was only in grade school, but yeah...Just goes to show we also need a 90's film. Nostalgia is contagious. I feel like writing a screenplay now lol
John Hughes was a hero of mine....
I was class of 1977 and from Texas to boot, so when this movie came out in 93 it was a must see for me., I can't tell you how many times since then I have watched it, I purchased the Criterion special edition DVD boxed set when it was released, I also bought a wall poster for my office. Still love this movie as much today as I did in 1993
Haha it looks as fun as when they were filming the movie. Great cast who didn't seem too big to come back and interact and have a good time. MM seems like your every day person.
Awwww no cell phones. Those were the days
They’re called smartphones these days, boomer. We also got way better weed and faster cars. A Tesla would spank all those classics. Hell, people are building cheap ass Honda civics that make more power
@@kindadecent9754 the cars are ugly as fuck nowadays. I would take a beater 69 Charger over a pristine straight piped Honda any day. The only modern car that looks good is the Challenger. You know why it looks so good? Because it’s based on the 70 Challenger.
@@kindadecent9754 We had BETTER MUSIC, slick. And, the chicks weren't as uptight. Have fun playing with your Tesla and smartphone. Sounds like real visceral experiences. Lmfao. 😎👍
I saw this movie for the first time on MTV when I was a freshmen in high school and that was 2008 and it became my favorite movie ever and set the tone for the rest of high school for me. By the time I was a senior I was able to make out who was each character from this movie in my friend group. Different music but same good ass vibes!
20 times...Omg this was my go to movie from the time it came out til several years later...I remember my mom watching it for the first time and loving how accurate they got alot of things spot on about how people lived back then...Always makes me smile thinking of it... Love LOVE THIS FILM!! ALWAYS WILL!!
I hope when I get to these guys age, I have as much fun. I’m 13 and I love this movie but when I see this movie, I feel partly sad because I don’t think when I’m these teens age, I’ll have as much fun. I hope my years of high school have as much fun. And I hope this music makes a comeback. Dazed and Confused, one of my favorites.
Believe it or not I just saw this movie for the first time 11/8/2020!
Hope you enjoyed as much as I have
Kick ass movie huh
I got you beat: 12.13.20. And I’m 48
@@leahcimthgirw3163 Bro I actually lived a lot of this movie. Me and my peers as teenagers in 95/96! No joke no lie. Small town Texas
@@UncleIJT I graduated 98/99 and all through my teens this movie was life and it was real. Salute brother Freshman from Texas!✌️
This film is so perfectly expressed with the details. A perfect reenactment.
Love this movie. It’s like a documentary LOL. I was 15 in 1977 in San Francisco and it was F¥€£ING AWESOME!!!
I was 8 in 76... it was so different than it is today. I was the generation after. Generation X. However ..the cars.. clothes & music are accurate. I would love to go back for a visit..
actually no, you're a Gen X'er. I was 4 in '76 and I'm definitely part of the Gen X generation.
@@1kalicid forgive my punctuation.. that’s what I was trying get across.
Everyone should be able to relate to this movie. If you don't you weren't living.

I love this movie so much.
I can sit any day through it just because of its laid back and cool spirited nature.
Even though I graduated senior year back in 04, I am happy to say that my experience was very similar. No regrets and plenty of characters that defined my good experience. You only live the experience once.
Make sure you have great memories of it and keep on L-I-V-I-N!!
Takes me back to my high school years in good ol texas
"Alright, Alright, Alright." - Wooderson
Damn what a good time it was backed then compared to the world we live in now.
I always tell this story. I was in my middle school bedichek, here in Austin Texas, while they were filming. We had no idea what was going on until the movie came out!
i was in baghdad, Iraq when y’all had this reunion. I love this movie very much! I’ve always heard there was a movie called Dazed and Confused but i had never seen it…it wasn’t until probably sometime between 2010-2014 when i first watched it…such a great movie that never gets old!! I can’t believe it took me this long to watch it!
Most accurate high school party feeling when Mitch is drunk walking through the crowd at the party in woods. EXACTLY how I remember those nights. Wish could go back
There was a pool hall in Arvada Colorado that reminded me so much of the Emporium. I used to love getting a 12-pack on a Friday night and throwing this movie in, Fun Times
What was it called? I live close to Arvada.
@@bryanmoseley9887 this was back in 1996, something like Jerry's? It's been awhile I'm not sure
I love this movie and it is so true of how high school was in Texas in the late 70's! I graduated in 80! Cruising looking cool, rock blasting, drinking Strawberry Boonesfarm!
This movie is still stellar:) I watch a couple times a year to this day. Epic
76 was a great year
Man I love this movie but better than that I loved living and high school back then too it was just like that all races hanging and partying and smoking together. Jocks freaks hippies kickers and preps all partyed together back then. Zeppelin, foghat, nazerith, and Floyd. Man the times. Lewisville high school rocks for ever. Lewisville Texas 1977
Really kool you got to see so many of the cast members I got to meet Joey Lauren Adams and she was super sweet also very humbled to her fans and success it’s very rare to find actors and actresses like that but it’s nice when you find it
The 70's were so great from cars, music and and dirt and street bikes and the outdoor keggers. Truly a magical time for us who lived it.
