For anyone looking into how to get one off their door, I used a flat head screw driver and a rubber mallet. I put the flat head tip between the door and the Safety 1st base that is in contact with the door. Gently tap the screwdriver to get it between the door and the lock. Don't pry, as you might damage the door. If you do it in a couple spots, the adhesive should give way and at least in my case, came up with no residue left on the door.
Took a lot of elbow grease, a flathead screwdriver, lots of goo gone and a razor blade but I finally got it off with only minor paint damage. Luckily I was painting my interior doors black anyway!! Thanks!!
I moved into a new house and the previous owners left one of these. No amount of "elbow grease" was getting this off. I could pry it. I tried the company suggestion of dental floss behind the adhesive, the dental floss just broke. Eventually I tried the flat head screw driver gently but ultimately the adhesive ripped a chunk of the door. This stupid thing has ruined my door.

Thank you for the video. This product was sold with absolutely NO instructions!!!
If I need this for the front door to my apartment, would I be able to get back inside by turning the handle from the outside?
Thank you very much!

Sara Dunsmore Goo-Gone works great for dissolving glue with no damage.
Any Idea on how to remove this?
