    It's true that, RF interference can emanate from poorly shielded or low-quality 5V chargers and other electronic accessories connected to the 12V car socket. When these devices are in use, they generate electrical signals, and if not adequately shielded, these signals can radiate RF interference. This interference can then propagate through the vehicle's electrical system and potentially interfere with sensitive electronics within the car. With that being said. I've had absolutely zero problems with them. I've been using one that has 6 USB slots for several years with zero problems..

      Yeah I have and he's 100% right... 99 Camry, 303k miles now... Bought it one year old with 14k on it... Maintain it fairly well but not religiously by the book... Never had one very expensive or hard to perform repair. Most of them I do myself besides things like Timing belt service or new lower control arms because the rubber bushings were shot... Motor and transmission has never had to be apart. Still runs and drives better then some new cars I have driven. Extremely quiet inside, AC blows cold, everything works as it should, only have had to replace blower resistor once to updated resistor $15 from the dealer, 3 radiators I do it myself in 30 - 45 minutes in my driveway, both electric cooling fan motors once and a new set of brushes in the original alternator last year $8 online, 1 hour job in my driveway. Amazing reliable car and quiet inside... Most new cars have too much road noise inside then for me! Even has original exhaust system and muffler!!!

    Scott, I've been watching your CZcams channel for about almost 3 years. I like your explanations on cars and advice. This one caught my attention the most. My nephew has a VW small car. None of his cigarette 🚬 inputs work. I tried adapters like the ones you showed. Notging works. I think the previous owners burned something out by plugging these adapters in. Could something like this adapter cause major issues such as all cigarette 🚬 adaptors failing, heater to stop functioning and mess with the electrical stuff in a car 🚗. My nephew can't figure it out and he knows about cars. The fuses look good. Its an 8 year old, small VW. Very nice, except this issue. It seems like a nystery.

    Thank you so much! I just installed a drive cam into my car and it reduced the range of the remote start. Now I know why. Thank you

      that would have been cool , even more if i was the winner since my 2000 saturn dont like that much extra plug in stuff , after 20 years i can get a better voltage from her than 12,2 , in the good days i think it was 12,4 , but she s not dying yet at 321000 km.

    OMG I bought one of these recently as the standard USB port was low amperage and taking ages to charge my phone. I plugged in an adaptor and was pleased with how quickly it was charging my phone. Not long after using it though for the first time ever a warning came up on my dashboard saying "service tyre pressure monitoring system" turned the car off and on a again a couple of times and it eventually went away. Going to take it back though and get a better quality one. I always thought these adaptors worked by resistive dropping rather than the incredibly inefficient way of turning it to AC then back to DC again.
    THANK YOU Scotty, seriously thought something was going wrong with my car and would need a service etc.

    While I agree with RF interfering with car systems, its not wireless frequencies that's causing the interference. Its RF being fed back into the car's wiring.
    A simple fix we've used in the past is adding a DC line noise filter on the plugs you are using.

    • @TheMikeydood
      @TheMikeydood Před 5 lety +3

      It depends on if the alien probes are plugged into the noise filtered plugs or not :)

      Your reply makes little sense. Wireless frequencies and RF are pretty much one and the same.

      Isn't that for audio noise coming through the line from ignition and such, which suppresses those noises, as opposed to the inaudible RF frequencies?

    Hey Scotty. I live in my 2007, 2.7L petrol Toyota LWB, mid roof, Hiace Commuter (ex taxi), at the beaches in NSW AUSTRALIA. I've spent $ on solar, charge controllers & Renogy DC-DC to charge 2 off grid battery banks. I will definitely stop using the fast charge cig lighter socket for my phone from now on. Thanks for this 1! Have seen this earlier.
