A few methods not mentioned in this video:
Sweet Scent - Using a Pokémon with Sweet Scent, you can force Horde Encounters to happen, which given that there are 5 Pokémon instead of 1 means you have a higher chance of encountering a Shiny Pokémon. It tends to be a bit difficult to actually catch Pokémon in Horde Encounters though, so battle wisely!
Friend Safari - It seems to be easier to find Shiny Pokémon in the Friend Safari, though there isn't anything supporting this but hearsay. Still, I definitely have seen a lot of Shiny Pokémon that have been caught in the Friend Safari, and I myself have caught a Shiny Electrode there.
Tipping? - Just a rumor, but people seem to think if you tip a lot of people in the game you have a higher chance of encountering Shinies.
Soft Resetting - If there is a Pokémon in the game that you can encounter on demand, like legendary or other event Pokémon on the over world, you can save before the encounter and reset until you run into a Shiny version of that Pokémon. This does not increase your chances, but it will force the game to generate a new Pokémon, meaning you have as many tries as you want to reset for a Shiny. Some legendaries, like Zekrom and Reshiram in BW, cannot be shiny though.
These methods were omitted for a couple of reasons, but mostly just because I ran out of time and needed to get the video up! So enjoy and have fun shiny hunting! - Hry

interesting (and sadly true) story of my first ACCIDENTAL shiny encounter when i was 10. i was playing pokemon platinum and was in a cave. i found a graveller that was "a different color" i told myself. so i just KILLED IT AND MOVED ON. oh god did i get roasted the next day at school.

I was at my friend Victoria's house, and we were playing pokemon in her bedroom. I was trying to get a sail fossil (which i still don't have) and I was finding a lot of Dwebble, so I made a joke and said "I bet the next dwebble I find will be shiny!" Sarcastically, but I ended up finding a shiny.
His name is now Star, and I will never forget his story.

I have a similar story. I encountered a Pokemon and went, "imagine if its a ditto. That would be hilarious." Sure enough, it was a ditto.
I randomly found a shiny Lillipup and Machoke.
Been playing pokemon since blue came out for gameboy and guess what. The only shiny, Ive ever gotten. Was Garadose in lake rage and thats because everyone got it.

Following the announcement of the new legends game I figured it was time to give gen 5 and 6 games a shot. Came across your video and found this to be rather interesting. Looking forward to trying these shiny hinting methods in the upcoming weeks.
The level of frustration and rage the Pokeradar brings is almost undescribable... when the chain you've worked so hard and invested so much time breaks for no apparent reason, it feels like the inside of your head has become empty, and your bosom set ablaze.
But when you finally achieve that 40th chain, sees a shining bush and successfully capture your desired shiny... the joy and euphoria it brings is so great that one does not simply forget.
As for me that was a shiny female Ralts in route 209 at nightime; splendid IV, perfect EV adjustment... she evolved to Gardevoire and she served as my most trusted adjutant for years. ...And when I first saw her mega evolve during the battle against Diantha, stood and howled high in that chapel... that was one of my happiest moments in my life.

I remember my first shiny was a Poliwhirl, it was my first time playing Pokémon but I fortunately already understood the concept of a shiny and I got so excited. I had been searching for a Dratini or Dragonair and instead this shiny guy pops up and I freak out and manage to catch it, I was so happy. I ended up resetting that game so I lost him but I remember putting all my good Pokémon through the Wonder Trade first so that other people could get some enjoyment out of them. Hope he’s still out there somewhere, along with the rest of my first team
I had a similar story while fishing 4 politoad 4 my dex, I find a regular one it faints to perish song and the 2nd one I find is shiny I caught it be4 perish song sealed the deal luckily -that's nice of you to wonder trade your pokemon away
Can you get a shiny stater at the beginning of the game? And you know how there's sprites of each starter when you're choosing, will the sprite look different, to indicate that it's shiny? I really want a shiny Litten lol
yes you can but to se if iy's shiny you need to go to the stayus and see if it is shiny or just get into battle and se if it's shiny

It is possible, just rare, and requires a hell of a lot of soft resetting, best to just breed the started with a foreign ditto... :D
GalaxyUnicorn You have to wait until you throw it into battle with Hau to see if it is shiny. Also you can Masuda method for a shiny... I got a shiny litten that way
I remember as if it were just yesterday~ I was ten and i had beat Clair in Soul Silver, and heading south instead of flying back to New Bark, and i decided to go through Dark Cave, it was near the Entrance by route 31, i had a wild encounter, i called it being a geodude, but, i didnt expect it to be a shiny! I freaked out and spilled my drink at the restaurant i was at... Was it worth the Freakout? YUS! ALL THE YUS!
I found a shiny Skiddo on my first day of playing by random on route 5. Although I think finding a shiny Kalos Pokémon that early in the game kind of screwed with my brain, because now whenever I see a regular Skiddo, I think it looks really weird and that it's shiny form looks normal. Oh well. At least I've finally caught my first shiny.

Some of the mega evolutions look even more badass when they're shiny. My favorites being Shiny Mega Gengar (it's pure white) and Shiny Mega Gardevoir (it keeps the blue hair but gets a black dress).

Just buy them on eBay! No seriously, people are actually buying and selling in-game Shiny Pokemon on eBay. And they're going for 20+ dollars. Anyone else think that's just disgusting?

I'm a bit late but just tried the fishing method and caught a Shiny dragalge! Thanks a bunch, pokeradar was getting me nowhere and breeding kinda hits your morale after 5 boxes of regular hatches. Lol. Good to see a bit of progress paying off.
and if you take a toilet break you will break your chain, if you sneeze you will break your chain and if you have a baby you will break your water
you forgot if you don't break your chain you break your chain.
Don't forget that if you do nothing you will break your chain.
Reporting back after having to fish a few Dragonairs. I fished around 50 straight without breaking the chain (I used a Sticky Hold Accelgor that was holding a Smoke Ball) I found the Dragonairs I needed but no shinies.
Later, I was capturing a few Girafarigs to trade for other Friend Safari pokemon and I randomly found a shiny Sigilyph, which is actually the first time I ever found a shiny (and I have been playing since Gen 1).
As I expected, the only method that works for me is just randomly getting one.

I must be lucky. I'm fairly new to the whole Pokemon phenomena. My sister got me a 3DS (I think that's what it's called) and Pokemon X for my birthday. I'm grateful for anything I get and I decided it be rude not to play it, so I started and it is really fun. I'm really enjoying it.
But I've been hearing left and right how rare it is to get these shiny Pokemon. I've only gone hunting for them once, using the chain-fishing method. On my tenth reel-in, I got a shiny Gyarados. I hatched a shiny Charmander, Finneon, Vulpix, and Togepi by accident; I'd never even heard of the Masuda Method. I got all four hatching the first egg.
In the wild, I stumbled on a shiny Furret, Magneton, Houndour, Gengar, Eevee, Lapras, and Dunsparce. I traded the shiny Lapras and Dunsparce for a shiny Palkia and Ho-oh. I also evolved a few of them, including the Eevee, which I evolved into a shiny Sylveon. And just before coming to this video, I caught a shiny Ralts, which I can't wait to evolve!
So I guess I'm doing really well. :D
In my entire life I've only got a shiny Budew by random in Platinum. Now im trying all these methods. Masuda-ed 8 boxes then stopped. Chain fished and couldn't get very many. Pokeradar to chain 36, and broke the chain. I feel im drowning in a lake of rage, except if I was I would have found shiny gyrados.

The first Shiny i found in the game, was also the very first Pokémon i ran into in the tall gras! A shiny Pidgey. But there was one Problem: At this Point, i didn't have any Pokéballs! T.T

I've only found a shiny through just randomly running into one in the wild. I didn't even know about shinies then, but I knew something was up when I ran into a green Tediursa, so I'm glad I caught it XD.
This happened to me with my first Pokemon game Pokemon pearl, i was just training for elite 4 and a pink Rhydon came up and i had 3 Pokeballs left, great ball, Pokeball and a heal ball.... It came down to my last ball and i now have a Rhydon in a pink heal ball xD it looked ok at the time, but now when i throw out a heal ball most people are shocked to see a bad ass gold Rhypherior come out of it xD
Lol, that's awesome XD. But now that I know that chain fishing for shinies is pretty simple, I think I'll go for a dratini. Who knew slightly varied colorations of pokemon would be so addictive XD.

The first and only shiny pokemon I ever caught was a shiny Murkrow. I remember getting all excited about it, and I even evolved it with a dusk stone because Haunchkrow's shiny looks cooler. But I freaking forgot to SAVE!!! So I lost my shiny Murkrow.

I have had only 2 shinys in my days Masuda-ing and Chaining, yet both were not due to them. One was an Audino that I found looking for a Venipede on route 7 in X. The other (also in X) was an Agislash that I got through Wonder Trade. Oh, and back to the Audino story, I did actually find a Vinipede!
I found a shiny Ivysaur in the Friend Safari. I didn't have a Quick Ball, so I hit it with False Swipe. Then it used Take Down.
everybody goes ahead an chains or breeds like crazy, while I pick up about 6 different shiny pokemon just by randomly walking around

I was just walking around once in that same patch and I caught a shiny pancham it's colors were bad just light orange almost the same so I put it in the. pc and it's still there

Method 4.) Wonder Trade. With enough luck, you could actually land a shiny random Pokémon. I received a shiny Arceus once but traded it because it was obviously hacked.

I got a Shiny lvl 100 Fortess from it so...
There is also this "Sweet Scent" method for getting a shiny. Get a combee with the ability (or attack or whatever it is called) go into large grass or flower felds and use it, and there will be hoards. Most likely to be shinies there than with the pokeradar.
By using that method, i have gotten 3 shinies within 15 encounters of hoards. As far as i know, that method works.
You realize that all your doing is seeing 5 at once, so your odds are 5/ like 1k or so, 1 k because your forcing an appearance and taking advantage of other factors. This also greatly limits your ability to find different pokemon, given that there are only a few hoards
That i do know, but it's great if it's a specific pokemon that are in hoards only.

Also theirs another way to get shiny pokemon.
Use honey in the grass or just use a pokemon with the move sweet sent. Then it'll attract five pokemon and there would be a 51% chance getting a wild shiny. Please like if this helped you!
Though I didnt use honey or sweet scent, I did get a shiny weepinbell. But thanks for the advice m'ate. I'll remember that next time i go Shiny hunting. :D

Red Luigi Dude, 51%, where the fuck did you get that from? That means, every SECOND Pokémon is a shiny. It may be a cool way th get some, but the chance is 5:4096 (serebii)
I've heard that you have higher chances of finding shinies in the friend safari. Also, Hoard Battles are a great method of finding shinies. I personally found 2 shinies within 30 min of each other using this method.
I’ve been trying to find a shiny Mime Jr in the blue cave via using sweet scent to get hordes with one having a chance of having a shiny for two days straight now, needed this XD

I found out something when using the poke radar in route 10. I was chaining Eevee for a shiny, at the same time I needed Eevee for the 8 Eevee evolutions, I accidentally captured an Eevee while chaining. Apparently, it didn't break my chain! So I found out while using the poke radar, catching Pokemon will NOT break your chain. Btw, yes I got a shiny Eevee :D Go do it yourself and reply if you think this is a load of bull. I'm telling you, it's not.

You should also include the fact that friend safaris have a higher chance of encountering shinies. I have gotten shiny sliggoo, pupitar, and mawhile that way

A few years ago I managed to get my first shiny using the chain fishing method after watching this video. It was clauncher :3
Also at 3:52 you mention the Pokeradar music changing, nobody knowing why; according to Serebii, "Another new change is that, after battle, there is a slim chance that the music will change to a more up-beat music. When this occurs, there is a higher chance of encountering a Shiny Pokémon."

On x and y the only one I've gotten via a method is a shiny roselia using the Masuda method. I've randomly seen and unfortunately killed a shiny woobat in the game though.
Yeah shiny sharpedo works! I got myself one back in my pokemon black version as a carvanha then evolved it and transfered it to my oras when it received its mega. So happy 😊

Oh my god! I've just gotten a Bold Shiny Eevee with Wish and 3IVs via Masuda method after a whopping 62 eggs!!! ...and, I also got a Shiny Relicanth via chain fishing, though I really wanted a Shiny Clawitzer...
I found a shiny graveler in the cave close to the elite 4 in d/p. Guess which attack it did....

When i first started playing X, before i learned about the chain fishing thing, I was fishing to level grind before a gym and suddenly found a shiny Luvdisc.

My first shiny was in Pokemmo and in the safari zone. Was a female nidoran which I traded for some shitty pokemon without thinking..I now have a unbreon with shittier speed than a lvl 50 (umbreon is lvl 100)

I got myself a shiny Vulpix with Drought on my third Masuda egg. Shiny Ninetales looks amazing.
I do wonder about something, though. I remember that one of Ninetales's Pokedex entries states that their fur turns silver as they age. Does that mean that every Ninetales eventually becomes shiny according to the fluff?

At the moment, your best bet is the Masuda method. Forign Vulpixes are surprisingly common on Wonder Trade. It will usually take quite a while, since even with the Masuda method it's still a 1 in 1024 chance or so.
My first shiny Pokemon was Giratina (which I surprisingly get from Wonder Trade,but I use him/her to get Samurott in GTS),after that in my way to Inverse Battle guy,I found shiny Lairon.
