I don't think it will be as smooth or natural sounding as the HD600, but for a closed-back, I think they did a great job, especially considering that there isn't a lot of competion, if any at all, when it comes to good tuned closed-back headphones in this price range.

Glad to see a close back headphone with NO sharp treble peaks, NO strange dip around 300hz and PROPER bass boost that doesn't bleed to the mid.

@@hagoromootsutski9058 no its a limitation rather than intention; close backs cause a dip on either midbass or treble aor both depending on the design. you cant help it. but both radiance and 620s are handling this pretty well.
bas-mid seperation at 250hz or so usually causes some thinnes on male vocals and body of the instruments. if you want to seperate them yet keep the balance boosting the 150hz region while keeping the treble extended would give a better result. but this is almost impossible on headphones.

Finally, fking finally a somewhat good tuned closed-back from you guys. I have been waiting for this for years. There are a few quirks in the tuning, but it looks like a really well done closed-back so far, much better than anything that the competition is currently offering, except maybe the AKG K371, but that one has other shortcomings.

I have, among other things, a pair of 660S. These are faulty (lacking both mids and highs) and have been faulty since new. I had bad luck.
I have my sennheiser momentum 2.0 over ears for almost 6 years now and they still sound incredible and function like new! 😊 These Hd 620s look like a great upgrade from my momentum 2.0 👌
They're definitely different but would make for a great companion to MTW ;)
Just ordered the 660s for mixing and mastering but can't wait to get these in as well! 😅

Brilliant, love the pad choice and leaving the screen off to see the drivers is really nice touch! 560s were and still absolutely fantastic value for money, always wanted a closed-back version to compliment it! Let's hope these sound as good if not better than the 560s!

@@residentzero Same Chassis but not the same tuning or internals, driver is different. This new 620s looks to be using the same and newer driver from the 560s.

The bass is pretty good to my ear, it's like a closed back 600, very airy I think but you can feel a bit of the impact, but more intimate. Went to the biggest audio shop in Canada to look for something else an hour ago and the store already has this headphone stashed away for a few weeks apparently lol.

Thank god for the graph, we can get an idea and what to expect. After owning the hd 599 and now hd6xx I haven't found a closed back hp that I like in terms of tonal balance, because there is always some wacky fr thing happening somewhere, if this follows a hd600 tone with the bass that it needs it'll be exceptional
We publish the graph out of community interest, but it hardly tells the story of the listening experience. We hope you get to try it!
I like the look of this headphone, have Drop 6XX that I like using with a balanced amp. I wonder how much these are going to cost. Been looking for a travel set that folds with the sound of the 6XX with a bit more bass, I ended up with a pair of B&O H95 when I couldn't find new model Sennheiser headphones in South East Asia when countries started opening up. I'll have to find these to audition when they are available.

That peak in the mid range is interesting, but otherwise this is what ive been asking for forever. I've never been able to find a comparible closed-back solution to my HD600s and this MIGHT just be it.

A closed back hd600 is too hard to pass for me.
I love the hd6xx a tiny bit more, so i think the hd620s will be my favorite closed back.
Im excited and I'm confident Sennheiser can deliver, a fantastic closed back, better than the hd820 ( which had the fantastic soundstage but sacrificed a little bit in its tonality compared to the open hd800s) hopefully.
The graph shows that the hd620s is close to the hd600 and hd6xx.

A closed 600/650 i can use at the office has been a want of mine for a long while. I'm also glad its in this chassis so i can use it with a vmoda boom mic like on my 599's.
(Sennheiser please make an official option for that so we dont need to use adaptors to fit the recessed 2.5mm)
Next up can we get a revision of the 820 that doesnt have such a wonky FR? Why, you could call it the 820S. I'll look forward to my free unit for the naming idea.
Hey Sennheiser, I have been using HD 4.40BT for a little over 5 years now. Its an insanely amazing product and I had no complains with it till now. Although it doesn't have any special noise cancellation, the physicality of it and the fit on the ear makes most of the noise disappear. My only concern with it now is, I think its battery life ran out, and now its not getting charged. So i planned on using it wired but the included wire was damaged from use. When i tried getting a cable online, couldn't find a 2.5mm to 3.5mm, and even if i did, i wasn't able to find one that fits into the locking mechanism that you guys use(the one where you insert and turn it, sliding it into the groove). The cable on your site is always out of stock.
After around 6 years of using the product, I'm planning to buy the ACCENTUM headphones, since I love your products and will stay loyal to you, my only suggestion to you guys is, try keeping 3.5mm slot instead of 2.5mm and even with the 3.5, use some more standard approach of locking the cable into place as opposed to some proprietary thing.

@@sennheiser Yeah i don't really need it right now since I'm planning to take the ACCENTUM wireless headphones. Just a quick question about them,I read in a forum that after a firmware update, the ACCENTUM got the adaptive noise cancellation feature. Can you please fact check that and let me know if it's similar to the one seen in momentum 4's where we can adjust between noise cancellation and transparency using a slider?
@@guhanandnimmagadda1608 ACCENTUM does not have adaptive noise cancellation; the MOMENTUM 4 and MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 feature that. ACCENTUM and ACCENTUM Plus both have hybrid ANC. ACCENTUM Plus features a slider for adjusting the ANC/Transparency balance. We do add features and optimizations via firmware often however adaptive ANC is not a feature we have added.
Finally a closed back member of the HD6XX series, cant wait for the reviews. Will there be any option for a balanced cable?
Yes. Later this summer we will have a factory balanced option, and is compatible with just about all cables from the single-sided 500 series (example: 560S, 598, 555, etc) enabling you to also swap out for shorter/longer cables, in-line mics, etc.

@@Enzo_560 While you can use the in-line mic-cable options, there's no plan for an attachment boom mic as of this writing. But we'll share that feedback.
I'm so hyped! I've got 560S which I'm very happy with but sometimes I just need more sound isolation as I live in a fairly noisy neighborhood. So this seems to be the perfect headphones for me. I just hope the price is not too far from the 560S.

Still waiting for the HD900, i hope one day it becomes a reality because i would love to have an upgrade from my HD800S without climbing up the mountain to the HE1. Is this idea still being played around with? It was one of the top comments on the AMA you guys did awhile back

Looks nice İ have hd560s and I've tried HD600 and fell in love with its female vocale performance and tonality. İm wondering how's hd620s vocal performance and naturality compare to HD600 itself? %80-90 probably would be enough for me to get it :)
That's where the HD 620S is unique; it maintains the silky smooth vocals, while enhancing the imaging of instruments in the stereo spectrum. All of that is wrapped in a more contemporary tuning for brilliant transients and detailed, textured bass.

I'm stumped, I want this because I'm a huge fan of Sennheiser since they got me started with my audiophile journey with the HD518 but I just purchased the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro X Limited Edition last month and as far as I can tell they are very similar headphones. DT770 is slightly more V shaped while the 620s is more Harmen tuned.
Any suggestions?

Sort of, but it's actually more like an HD 600 with a wider soundstage, more defined bass, and exceptionally brilliant clarity in the treble...especially instruments 🎧

@@mehmetgurdal I have 600, 650,660,660s2 and Trust me 660s2 doesnt sound like Graph Shows, They are nor Muffled at all, And Honestly they have Better speed, imaging,seperation, soundstage, detail, than the HD600.
I can tell u now, HD 600 Vocal Kings, HD650 smooth bad recordings Kings, and HD 660s imaging speed separation Kings, S2 are just that with a bit more Sub bass and Smoother Treble . All HD 6 line have the same sound signature and its Stupid for anyone saying HD 600 are the Best and 650 are Crap, or any other... Or u like or Not this Sound Signature.

I'd be ok if it had more presence on 10k+ band. Because that way they'd still sound resolving despite not having the vocal presence.
I usually look for sheer resolution and note weight on headphones so 660s is not really that good of a choice for me.

🤨Have you ever heard of the HD 800, HD 800S, HD 560S, HD 660S2, HD 650, HD 6xx, IE 900, IE 600, IE 200, IE 300, MOMENTUM and AMBEO series? (all launched after HD 600) Literally millions of units sold.
Would these be suitable for studio use?
Designed for audiophile use, but what we've discovered is that the customers will use them where they love them the most. Closed headphones are great for isolation.

To obtain the sound it has, the 600 series chassis would not work. That chassis was built specifically for open headphones and does not seal in air well, nor does it have the geometry for the transducer pitch that gives the HD 620S its super-wide sound stage

Is the HD620S driver better than the 600?
They've got some similarities, but the HD 620S builds upon them with a more contemporary tuning than the HD 600. The presentation is also quite different, nevermind the closed/open principle.
Is the earpads on these real leather?
Synthetic leather. Makes it much much easier to have all HD 620S produced sound the same, among other benefits.

I am the Only one Thinking HD600 and 660s already have enough Bass ?
It's personal preference. HD 600 is diffuse field equalized, and as neutrality goes, has been the benchmark. The 620S is certainly a contemporary tuning that still has balance, but gives you more bass definition and presence, along with some brilliant details up top.

I was expecting closed HD 490 Pro, this appears to be another closed HD 560S, like HD 569 that we had since 2016. The frequency response do look better than HD 569, but what else is changed to warrant 2-3x price increase?
these are probably made in ireland or something which others in the 600 line are.
@perfectexsneeder these are a 600 series driver, but yes in a 500 chassis. The chassis is essential for getting the spacious soundstage due to driver geometry. The HD 569 and HD 560S are not open/closed versions of each other.

Is it becose 490 Pro chassis is not suitable to be converted to closed back? Is it becose the 500 have more angled drivers that give wider soundstage in closed back headphone?
@@PerfectExsneeder The 500 series chassis is a proven and beloved platform for comfort but most importantly the transducer geometry. It is also a better platform for sealed headphones for managing air leakage; the other 600 series models are built by hand with the intention of being open, which makes tiny air gaps negligible.

There’s never been an HD 620, so why the S? Also are these made in China or Ireland? You must rerelease the HD 700 as it is!
the 20 is * generally used for audiophile series closed cans. HD 620S transducers are made in Ireland. There's exceptions to every rule with naming, especially alpha-numeric. That said, we just hope you get to try them. The sound is so special that you'd forgive us if they were named HDABC XYZ-&&%##!

The HD 620S has softer earpadding and a metal band, which is a bit more malleable.
@TheKlang7 do you have them? Is it possible to bend the steel band to reduce the clamp, like people do with HD600/650 housing?

I think they are a step down from the HD 820
Some will like them more, some less. But we feel its our most compelling closed wired headphone in ages.
leather ear pads looks uncomfortable
They're necessary for a great seal and the wave interaction in the front volume. That said, they're cushier and roomier than before and handle oils/moisture quite well.
