    Hi Neil and Ant we always love a house with beautiful ceilings and the ones here were so beautiful really setting off some gorgeous rooms. It really is grand here isn't it ❤. Imagine that some of the collection has been sold they must have been very extensive. Its good that this has escaped victorian remodeling. We saw the exhibition advertised when we were nearby last week and did wonder what it would be like. After watching this we will try to get over here sometime if we can as the house was so breathtaking and the gardens looked fantastic too. You must have took a lot of footage to use up your battery 😆 You looked very chilled outside the holiday home. Looks like you are having a fantastic time . Best wishes enjoy your day Dave and Dawn ❤

      Hi Dave and Dawn! Thankyou for watching! I forgot to charge up properly 🙃 only realised when it turned off lol... sun was so bright couldn't actually see the screen! Houghton blew us away, never seen ceilings like them... although painted many look like mosaics! It was mega busy took half an hour queuing down the drive... but well worth it! Some stunning pieces in the house and super friendly staff... hope you're enjoying your week... all good wishes sent your way, Neil and Ant 😊

    Wonderfull! Houghton Hall is really beautiful both inside & out! The interior & Rooms are just lovely with such ornately carved & beautifully painted ceilings, marvelous Art Work & magnificent ornately carved Fireplaces! The white colored Stone used inside the Hall is also really lovely & brings an appealing brightness to the interior wherever it's used. The Gardens are also very beautiful, with so many pretty flowers, trees & lush foliage. I also loved the wee round fountain surrounded with Plants in the one scene you filmed. That was so sweet! Above all, though, I really loved the White Deer you showed in the Grounds at the beginning there. They are just beautiful! I have never seen white deer before but they are the most beautiful deer I have ever seen. Somehow, they seem to suit the House perfectly & their being there on the grounds creates a perfect Picture. Thank you lads for sharing another delightful experience at the elegant & lovely Houghton Hall. Blessings to you both!🦌

      @@Annie4Always Hi Annie! We were blessed with many beautiful houses to visit when we went to Norfolk but Houghton was possibly our favourite on this trip... there were many wow moments the biggest was in the white hall! The sheer size and beauty is just breathtaking... it was a very very hot day but inside the house with its marble floors and cool stone walls it felt very pleasant. We thoroughly enjoyed the gardens too... possibly one of the largest walled gardens we've ever seen. As you say the white deer are amazing... almost magical in their setting. We hope you have a wonderful weekend and we send our fondest best wishes to you 😀

    I think this has to be the most exotic & richly ornamented of any of the large houses I have ever viewed - every square inch is incredible. The ceilings particularly ornate. I can't say "wow I like it", because I much prefer a quieter mode of design, really why i generally love the Georgian era, but this Georgian house is off the wall ! What is does say to me is you could have done so much with that wealth, why this depository of opulence? Something very wrong to me in that - however you just have to admire all the gorgeousness of this place - so much gold detailing on everything it boggles the mind! You could not put a price on this place - just not possible. I do hope they have good fire protection in place!

      @veronicaroach3667 Hi Veronica! Thankyou for watching and taking the time to comment... totally with you on all you say. We were having a similar conversation with one of the house stewards and they made an interesting comment that these estates were so remote that they usually provided employment for a huge number of people from a large radius from the property often with tied cottages etc, and that in such remote areas other than farming there would be little other employment opportunities. That said 200,000 in 1720 would be equivalent to several hundred million in todays money! We did enjoy seeing such a unique place... Best wishes to you from us both 😀

    • @chrisisjustme7546
      @chrisisjustme7546  Před měsícem +1

      @Mrrossj01 Hi! It is our understanding that Walpole, whilst prime minister for well over 20 years, was one of King Georges closest friends, infact he virtually took on the duties of king as well as Prime Minister, as George who barely spoke English having been born in Germany, did not want to do any kingly duties. This not only gave him access to the very wealthiest people in England and it also gave him access to some of the royal "purse"... his spending was lavish in the extreme... he spent almost £600 on clothes in one day alone... an inconceivable amount in those days! Without doubt some of the money he had access to for running the country may well have stayed in his own hands... 🤴
