Nice one guys.Over the years i'v caught more Pike on a simple copper spoon than any other lure i,v used here in the UK.Try a sink and draw retrieve, they take it as it flutters down.

It always amazes me how many people will spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on lures to catch a trophy fish. As fisherman we all do it at some point in our lives. But somehow it always comes back to the simple lures that stand the test of time and will almost inevitably work when nothing else will.

Yeah you don't need gigantic 40 dollar medusas to catch big pike/muskie, my go to is these 1 oz spoons. They cast super far due to their shape and weight and it simply catches fish, that or spinners. I think the 40 dollar supersized lure thing is just a meme/scam. The lures work, but you'll find the same luck with significantly cheaper and less complex tackle.
Yesterday I caught my largest pike, 33 inches, at the river. I was using cut bait for cat fish though lol. Plan to go back with some size 5 mepps and spoons

And without a doubt, the 5 of Diamonds, a red and white Dardevle and a red eye wiggler are the spoons that produce year after year after year for both numbers and size for pike. Dudes, among my best Pike Lures are my floating mouse🐁 and my 4 inch flame orange floating popper fish. Something I’ve come to learn about fishing: pike are evil heck-spawn fish that will bite anything. My absolute favourite lures (I usually fish small river areas here in Saskatchewan) are these tiny 2 inch hard plastic crank/jerk baits I got in a 3 for 1 pack. Super small but super bright and just a delight to play with.

Robbie now you have to learn to use that spoon as a surface lure. I'm not kidding. Cast the lure out and start the retrieve as soon as the spoon splashes down. Reel fast and the spoon should flip over on its back, hallow side up, and dance on the surface. Keep your rod tip high.
Try it as it takes some practice but it's great for shallow slop fishing, replace the treble with a single large hook with a soft plastic trailer. The big Husky Dardvevle spoons works great for this.

Chris Calo Yes they do. 1 oz size is the best. Pick either copper, brass or silver back of the spoon for different water clarity and weather conditions that you may be fishing. Colour doesn’t matter a whole lot. It’s the thumping wobble that gets them mad and electrifies the lateral line. They are ambush predators. Not so much a hunter like Muskie. Big pike are LAZY!!

All I ever use is a red spoon with black dots, i call it the lady bug. I catch pike almost every cast and I’ve caught tons of walleye with it too. Biggest pike was 13 pounds. Don’t have to try too hard. You can take any spoon really and throw it in the water and catch fish. I’ve caught 20 fish in a day using a single spoon then try using a pickerel rig or a crank and it’s not nearly as effective. You know what they say though “99% of lures are made to catch fisherman”
