Funny how you talked about big 3's but failed to mention Duncan, Parker & Ginobili in San Antonio. 3 titles , 4 finals appearances & twelve 50 win seasons (4 60 win seasons out of those 12) with them as the Spurs legit big 3 from '04-'05 to '15-'16.
The best parts about their achievements is that they are a small market team and they were home grown Spurs.
They made a mistake trading Paul. I know his playoff performances and his injury history and his age, but mans brought a lot of IQ, leadership, and playmaking. Asking a lot from booker to carry up the ball and taking his focus off of just getting buckets. Same with KD. It shifted the focus of booker, KD, and Beal off of what they do best.
Said this as the time. They got Beal, not some top 10 player. They would have been much better off just hoping Chris Paul was healthy come playoff time. Every time Paul lost in the playoffs, it was either due to his health, or when he had to be the number 1 scoring option which wasn’t his strong suit. They had no point guard as you mentioned and KD is not a playmaker, booker did better than expected, but still not a natural playmaker. And Beal is nothing more than a volume shooter. They have three bad shot takers and bad shot makers. However, you can’t win only taking bad shots. Someone has to make it easy on others. Chris Paul would have been that guy.

It's like Matt Ishbia owns the world's most expensive car, but has nobody who knows how to drive it. There's only one ball, and you need a solid point guard who knows how to direct the team and distribute that ball. The Suns overlooked that detail when assembling this year's team.

As an impartial observer (Nuggets fan), I was surprised when the owner fired Monty, dumped Ayton and Craig, and got Beal. That team gave the Nuggets fits, and was close. The winning template for the Nuggets was to build a strong core of players and coaches, and stay with it. Blowing things up as Ishiba did was nuts, IMO.
Booker once said in an interview that he and Durant should be better, and he also said coaching should be better. I don't think the players and Vogel are seeing eye to eye. So to answer your question, "What can they do?", I think they will get a new coach.

Life long Suns fan here.... The Suns have no choice but to run it back overall.... BUT.. here are the changes I think they need. #1 let Beal lead the 2nd unit off the bench. Since he and Booker are the same player, let Beal cook off the bench. #2 ADD A PG to the starting unit (trade Grayson Allen or Nurkic or some other way they need to figure out) #3 Add a backup PG to the backup unit #4 Draft or trade somehow for a Power Forward or 2. Oh and a New Coach just for something fresh overall for the team.... And then after all this................... pray

First biggest mistake was hiring Frank Vogel. Not because he is a bad coach, because he is not. Frank Vogel is the wrong fit. You acquired 2 offensive minded stars and hire a defensive minded coach? It doesn't make sense.Maybe as an assistant coach to direct the defense, but you hire an offensive minded coach first. Di Antoni would have been perfect for this team.
Haven't finished the video yet but I did like how you mentioned the 2008 Celtics with big three but they were able to win because they had a playmaker/ point guard which is what Phoenix needed really badly. I'm not sure why you would hire a defensive minded coach for an offensive team
When you have 3 supermax players, the coach falls so far down the pecking order that the team is due to implode
To be brutally honest, there are better point guards and power forwards available in the G League and going to be waived after the draft and available in the draft when they pick, get the players you need. The core three guys are okay, not great but they will do if you have 3 and D PF.and point guard to go with them. Dante Divencenzo was available for a song two years ago, pick up a guy like that and you are going places. TJD at Golden State was a late second round pick last year and the Warriors bought the pick for cash, a guy like that would make a huge difference for Phoenix. Lots of great players have been found undrafted.
If you are not finding any hidden gems, time to fire your scouting staff and try again.
Big threes are not outdated. You just have to get the third player while they're still on the rookie contract MPJ or what the thunder are gonna be in a few years as Chet and J dub develop

They ain't got no rebounders or 'force' in the paint at either end of the court. Book, Beal, and KD can get to the rim and certainly shoot to put points on the board, but in the Western Conference playoffs you run into the Twolves Big KAT and Gobert, Nuggets Joker, AG, and MPJ, OKC SGA, Giddey, and Holmgren. Just giving up too much size/power inside.

The problem was fit. The problem was no defense. The problem was you have 3 players that needed the ball in their hands and no one wants to stand in the corner. Look at jrue. 20 point scorer. All star. Why do the celtics work? jrue is willing to just play defense and stand in the corner when the other stars are on the floor.
The problem with the suns isnt Kd. its having booker and beal on the same team. They'd need to get rid of 1 of beal or booker. The 3rd star needs to be an off-ball star, defensive star or a big. Imagine if the 3rd star was someone like JJJ or Bam. Suddenly the parts fit.

Minnesota dominated the series & they looked so dominant that we'll all be looking forward to see how far Minnesota goes! Who are they at playoff time? Can they march through the league? They was banging kinda hard in the paint! The big 3 didn't look like the big 3.
Very simple: the best teams win in the NBA, not the best talent on paper. This is not fantasy basketball, IT IS THE NBA! You must have an identity and commit to it, period. In team sports, if you do not identify, you are going to fail! Suns, get an identity, stay with it from ownership on down to the franchise employees, be patient, and have a plan and develop it. These quick fixes with super teams only works if there is an identity and everyone buys in.
It’s all about coaching because those players can play offensively and defensively BUT certainly the COACH need to do more his job not just the big 3 but with all of his players. Basketball is a team sport.

KD is the modern George Gervin. Not a leader, but a pure scorer with great length and mobility. KD rode the coat tails of Steph and company. I think Sun's need to trade him. Keep Book. Book is incredible but he needs different pieces around him. Trade Beal as well. Sun's never ever should've fired Monty. Stupid decision. Either way Book is young, hungry and needs not superstar scorers around him. He needs good role players, hustlers and defenders. People forget basketball is also a sport of un appreciated tasks. You need those guys to win championships.

Vogel is a defensive coach! He was not the right coach for this team. In 2020, he had: AD, KCP, Danny Green, Howard, McGee, Rondo, and Avery Bradley. That's more than half the roster filled with defensive players.

If Steven A is correct, trading Booker for Julius Randle and two 1st round draft picks would solve the draft picks problem. And it would make them bigger and tougher.
