    I’ve tried both and whilst the blue is a great watch, it was the black and gold that did it for me. Can’t believe I own one but still gotta watch videos about it. Thanks for uploading this video.

    @wengjai Před 2 lety +20

    I’ve owned both and the blue in person is nicer for me. Depending on the environment you will get a different shade of blue. It looks exceptionally beautiful in the sun. The black on the other hand had a bit too much gilt. If you like a very old vintage looking watch than black is the way to go.

    You really can’t go wrong either way. I bought the black one but intend on buying the blue one as well. The black one just really caught my eye. And it is even more stunning in the sunlight. The blue one just has a different vibe to it to me, maybe a bit more casual?
    This is a choice that is win-win either way.

    Blue!
    The black wins on video's and photo's, but the blue in real life has a level of depth to it which just doesn't really comes across on video. Sometimes I think mine looks almost black, really versatile. Gorgeous thing!

      @@kgroth I am not sure whether the video mentions this, but the shape of the crystal is different. The blue has a more pronounced dome shape and black is flatter. You can see more distortions on the blue crystal.

    I prefer the black version. The blue one just doesn't grab me in the same way and seems to be lacking something; it might be the warming charm the black version has with the gilt - I absolutely love it. If I were to go for a blue watch I'd go for the Omega Seamaster 300.

    Great video btw. I own the blue version which is just stunning in the flesh. I can't praise the watch enough, the quality is outstanding. Have you watched the Timeless Watch Channel on the BB58 blue? he talks about how the silver snowflake hands reflect the light beautifully and I can see his point. It's something you get from the blue version which is a great attribute. Love the black version too though, can't go wrong with either watch.

  • @andywilliams4887

    Update from an earlier post: I'm very lucky to have recently bought brand new BB58 Black/Gilt and the Navy Blue versions. In fact I bought the blue first in early Nov 21 and I'm so delighted with it, but I still hankered for the black for its warmer, more vintage personality and I picked it up one last week in late Dec 21. Both are stunning and while identical in specs etc, they do have very different characters. They now share wrist time with one another and my classic 2002 Rolex 16610 Submariner Date - which is still the king IMHO before anyone asks. But you cannot argue with the Tudor BB58's sheer quality, accuracy and overall class at barely 40% of a current steel Sub's retail price - if you could actually get one that is!

  • @fliegerb777
    @fliegerb777 Před 3 lety +17

    Both are the same watch. Having the black BB58 since two years ago, I don't have any interest to get the blue version everytime my Rolex Boutique offers me one even though I've tried it on the wrist. The black version is more versatile IMHO but you can't go wrong with either one. Great episode, cheers.

      Oris typically competes at a lower price segment than Tudor, with companies like Longines, Tag Heuer, Rado, Nomos, Sinn etc.
      Whereas Tudor typically aims for competing in a slightly more "premium" price segment with brands like Breitling, Omega, Cartier, Zenith, etc.
      In terms of finishing quality, a lot of brands in the Oris range punch much higher than their weight though.

  • @andywilliams4887
    @andywilliams4887 Před 2 lety +2

    I very recently bought the Black Bay 58 Navy Blue to compliment a range of predominantly black-dialled watches in my collection that include the classic Rolex Submariner Date 16610 that I've cherished for 19 yrs. The Tudor is a super, very well-made luxury timepiece and I appreciate its rather understated blue dial and aluminium bezel compared to the 'bling-blue' ceramic of my Omega Seamaster 300. Like-for-like think of the Blue 58 as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. The blue really pops in daylight or in well-lit rooms and a pleasure to wear. Although not quite up there with the Rolex in the absolute quality stakes - but why should it be when barely 40% of the retail price - go to an AD and try one on. In-house COSC certified movement, 70 hrs power reserve.... you won't be disappointed.

    Strong appreciation for the Rolex Submariner 6536 but let’s be honest : even if I found one, I am not ready to spend North of €50k on a watch, any watch, and I would never dare to wear it outside the house, making the whole thing a non-starter. Thus I’ll go for the second best option, i.e. the black and gilt dial Black Bay Fifty Eight. Which, incidentally, I bought last week.

    I am lucky enough to have both the black and blue versions. The blue one I got from an AD at launch without any delay or pre-order. The black one came from the same AD some months later with a wait of just four weeks. I love them both and often swap between them during the day. They are, as pointed out in the comments, very different watches too. Both identical but very different to wear and to look at. My go-to favourite is the black version. Mine came with the webbing strap which is horrid but I already had a Strap-Code metal bracelet for it. There are downsides to the Strap-code version. It is heavier, not finished so well and has a rather old style push release for the buckle. But it also comes with more adjustment in the clasp and feels really good. It also has no rivets which many people hate about the Tudor metal bracelet. They don't bother me but it is worth noting this point when thinking of a replacement bracelet.
    I now struggle to think of anything else I would buy to add to my collection which also includes a Longines Spirit and a couple of Parnis Rolex tribute watches.

      I started seeing the original bb58 in Central London shop windows in late 2019. I bought mine on the day in Feb 2020. The blue is even more common

      @@hammalamiri12 Bit different for me, the blue just sold out but the black on both bracelet and nato is still there. There's still a blue on nato though but the bracelet is gone.
      I'm glad people who want the watch can finally buy them though rather than paying scalpers.

    Let's be honest, there's literally no difference in the colour of the steel of these watches. Why would Tudor do that? How much sense does it make to have the same freaking watch that doesn't share the SAME bracelet? Production-wise this makes literally no sense, and the reason why the steel looks different is simply because of light and different colours of the dials. To be fair, it doesn't even look different to me personally. Adrian spewed out some nonsense and now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. Meanwhile Adrian is selling bracelets on his website for 40 pounds, the same ones you can purchase on cheapestnatostraps for like 5 pounds. I don't trust that guy one bit.
